Nothing At All

Chapter Five

“You’re absolutely mad!” Delilah exclaimed when the bell rang.

“How am I mad?” I asked.

“You just agreed to go on a date with the Harry Styles,” Delilah exclaimed, “People are going to talk!”

“And maybe I’m sick of tired of thinking about what people think about me,” I said to her, “I haven’t been myself in ages.”

“Nonsense Rose,” Delilah said, “You’ve been yourself plenty of times.”

“Dee I was proud to show off my tattoos,” I said, “I took out my nose ring. I haven’t been myself since I was sixteen and you of all people know that. You were here when I first moved her. You saw me with the tattoos and piercings.”

Delilah sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose.

“I could start in on you and Niall Dee,” I said looking at her, “Niall looks exactly like Harry does and you don’t see me telling you that you’re crazy. All I told you was to be careful right?”

“Yeah but. . .” Delilah started and I smiled.

“Trust me if I can’t handle it you’ll be the first to know okay,” I said and she sighed but smiled.

“Fine,” she said, “Just be careful and if he hurts you I’ll kill him.”

I then smiled and linked my arms with Delilah.

“And there’s the girl I know,” I grinned and she just giggled.

Soon it was time for journalism and I was anxious to see what Harry wrote to me this time. Delilah was smirking as we sat down and I noticed that Harry and his friends were now surrounding me, her, and Jenna since she was already sitting behind me.

“Anxious to talk me again Styles,” I replied and Harry just scoffed and rolled his eyes while John Michael laughed.

“Question why do you call your brother Johnny?” Harry asked out loud.

“Because John Michael is too long and I like Johnny better,” I said, “Any other stupid questions?”

“There are no such things as stupid questions Rose,” Harry said.

“Just stupid people,” I said, “So are you inquiring that you’re a stupid person Harry?”

I smiled sweetly at the curly haired boy who was sitting next to me glaring while everyone laughed.

“Exactly alike,” I heard one of the boys muttered and I just rolled my eyes.

“I think I liked you better when we slung insults at each other,” Harry muttered quietly and I just rolled my eyes.

The bell rang and Mrs. Wilts came into the class and she looked over at where I was sitting and she smiled knowingly when she saw where Harry was sitting. I looked at her confused and she winked at me which threw me off guard.

“Alright class you know what you need to do,” she said and I pulled out my letter.

I opened the letter and pulled the letter out.

Letter 3
September 30, 2012
Dear Olivia,
So you gave me a list of questions to answer and you shouldn’t be shocked that you don’t have the answers to them in this letter. I would like to answer them in person and return the favor. I know talking about your personal life is hard. I don’t do it much either. I tend to just shove it aside and tell myself I’ll get to it later. I do have to say though you absolutely suck at telling jokes don’t try to make any on your own at all just use corny jokes they’ll get you further along.

I laughed quietly at that line of the letter and snuck a glance to see Harry staring at me smiling widely. I then went back to reading my letter.

Now I want to tell you what I think about your tattoos and their stories since I never got to say much to you. I love your stories. I hate girls who get tattoos just to get them. Each tattoo I have on my body has some type of story. Believe me most of them are pretty stupid but the few I first got were pretty meaningful. I understand your feeling when you get looked down upon because of your tattoos but I don’t think you need to hide them. I understand you and your mum don’t get along but those tattoos are what make you Rosemarie Olivia Siege. (Ha, you thought I forgot about your middle name being Olivia). You shouldn’t feel ashamed to have to conform to the norm. If we all did that, then life would be completely boring and predictable and I think I would kill myself. I was completely wrong about you Rose. We’re only on the third letter of this assignment and I found out things I would never have found true. So I have one serious question for you to answer. I have to go to this party thing on Friday night for my normal job at a bakery and I need a normal date. Not an easy shag. Someone who can hold conversation with my co-workers and the owners of the place, so would you please Rosemarie Siege do me the favor of being my date Friday night?

Let me know ASAP!
S

I then looked up from the letter to feel Harry staring at me with and questioning look.

“Yes,” I replied quietly pulling out a piece of paper to just doodle.

I looked out of the corner of my eyes to see Harry grinning widely. I then noticed that Harry had dimples when he smiled a genuine smile. I just smiled to myself and shook my head and continued drawing. I had gotten about halfway done of drawing a very detailed flower when the bell rang.

“So are you eating lunch with us?” Jenna asked as we walked to mine and Delilah’s locker.

“Today no,” I said.

“Harry’s taking her out to lunch,” Delilah said and Jenna gasped.

“Are you mad?” she hissed and I just rolled my eyes.

“It’s lunch Jen,” I said, “I’m not going to a wedding ceremony.”

“But he’s a punk Rose,” Jenna said.

“And my brother is considered a punk Jen,” I said annoyed, “Are you going to start judging him too? Oh wait you already do that when I’m not around.”

“I’ve never done that,” Jenna said shocked, “Who told you that Harry?”

“No Andrea from third period,” I said, “And I believe her.”

“Well everyone’s right about you,” Jenna said upset at me, “You are a stuck up person! You just want to step on others to get you further in life.”

I then just laughed bitterly and took off my cardigan.

“No I’m not a stuck up person Jen. Actually I’m a punk just like all of them,” I said showing my tattoos for the first time.

Everyone then stopped walking and stared at me. I then grabbed my things and headed towards Harry’s locker. When I got closer to his, I saw him talking to his friends and I walked up to them.

“So you decided to become a punk now?” Louis asked, “I bet their fake.”

“One hundred percent real kid,” I replied, “Ask Johnny over there.”

“True man,” he said, “I went with her every time she got one done.”

“Well I’ll be damned,” he said, “You don’t have a stick up your ass.”

“You said that Saturday asshole,” I replied and they all laughed.

“And this is the sister I’ve missed,” John Michael said hugging me.

“Yeah, yeah,” I said rolling my eyes as everyone passed us staring at us, “Harry over there owes me a free lunch!”

“Alright,” Harry said pushing himself off the lockers, “I’ll see you all tonight then?”

“Yeah,” they replied and he grabbed my hand and we headed toward the parking lot.

When we got to the front doors, I rolled my eyes because the hall marshall Daniel was standing there with his orange vest.

“Do you two have passes?” Daniel sneered at us.

“I’m a bit shocked that you’re so rude Daniel,” I replied pulling out my pass and one fake one I made for John Michael which he refused to take.

“Rose,” Daniel said shocked.

“That’s my name,” I smiled handing him both mine and the fake pass.

“He’s never had a pass,” Daniel said glaring at Harry.

“He’s left it over at my house for the past month Daniel,” I said, “John Michael and all of them left for lunch and he left it on the coffee table. I just remembered that I’ve meant to give it to Harry until just now.”

“How do I know you’re not lying?” he asked me and I smiled warmly at Daniel.

“Now would I ever lie to you Danny?” I asked, “I’ve helped you pass French.”

“Alright go,” he said, “but if I find out Rose. . .”

“I’ll take you out to dinner Danny,” I said and kissed his cheek, “Thank you!”

I then pulled Harry out of the front doors towards the parking lot.

“Well that went a lot smoother than I thought,” Harry grinned at me, “When did you learn to lie so smooth like that.”

“In my other lifetime kid,” I said as I pulled out my aviators out of my purse, “Where are we going because I’m starved.”

“My favorite diner,” Harry said pulling me towards his car, “We’ll come back for yours.”

“No need,” I said, “Johnny took me to school today. I have a flat and I have to find a way to pay for that.”

“I can help you with that,” Harry said absentmindedly as he pulled out of the parking lot.

“No thanks,” I said, “I can handle it.”

“Alright,” he said.

I do have to say Harry had a nice car. I was always a Range Rover fan since we moved to England but I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford one until I was done with college. I was staring out the window when I noticed what side of London we were on.

“They have a diner in the richer part of town?” I asked and Harry chuckled.

“Yeah,” he said pulling up to an old mom and pop diner, “This place has been here for years.”

He parked the car and I was about to open the door when Harry opened it for me and helped me out of the car.

“Well aren’t you just a gentleman,” I said and he laughed.

“Can we ease up on the sarcasm?” he asked, “I think my skin’s a bit red from that one.”

“Sorry,” I said sheepishly, “I don’t know I’m using it sometimes.”

“I can tell,” he said and I just rolled my eyes.

We got in the diner and the owners just smiled when they saw Harry and they smiled even wider when they saw me. We got our booth and Harry and I started talking. It was weird. Harry was the first person in a really long time that I was truly honest with. Besides Delilah, Perrie, Danielle, and Eleanor, no one knew the real me or my story so far. They all thought I was the poster child for good grades and a good student. I was far from it really and throughout lunch I found that out about Harry too. He was kind of in the same position. He was just a good kid turned bad while I was the bad kid turned somewhat good. Lunch was really nice and I was happy that Harry was truly interested in getting to know me and I think he was shocked that I was so interested in him. We learned all about our favorite things. We both had a love for The Notebook, but I was sworn to secrecy about his favorite movies because they were so chick flicky as he put them. I also found out he loved tacos and could eat them no matter what time of day it was. His favorite color was blue and orange. He had a love of cats and wanted one when he got his own place. He also loved music and wanted to do something with that in the future. By the time lunch was over I felt we had known each other for years. He drove me home after lunch and I thanked him.

“Thanks for lunch Harry,” I said.

“Call me Haz,” he said, “All my friends call me Haz.”

“Alright Haz,” I said, “Thanks for lunch I really enjoyed it.”

“Anytime,” he grinned and I saw something flash in his eyes; was it admiration?

“See you at school,” I said.

“See you tomorrow,” he said and I kissed his cheek.

I then got out of the car and walked up the stairs to my house. I unlocked the front door and turned around to wave at a retreating Harry.
