Nothing At All

Chapter Eighteen

Harry’s POV
It’s been twenty-four hours since we brought Rose in from her fight and the doctors said she had a really bad concussion from the fight. They said she has ninety-five percent chance of not waking up from this because of how severe the damage was and they said if she did wake up that she might not remember a whole lot. I haven’t left her room and I was sitting next to her bed with her hand in mine.

“You have to wake up Rose,” I whispered, “I just got you back. You can’t leave me just yet.”
I was just so tired of this lifestyle now. I lost my dad to it and I was no slowly losing one of the many people I cared about the most. I was looking over Rose’s features when the door opened and I saw Simon walk into the room.

“How is she?” he asked and I looked up to glare at him.

“Obviously not good,” I replied harshly, “They have another eight hours before they consider her comatose and say she may never wake up. Why do you care? You wanted to kill her.”

“You know my reasons why Harry,” Simon said and I just lost it.

“Because of what one person said,” I snapped, “I understand that she wasn’t the greatest person in the US but that doesn’t mean she’s changed. I love her Simon and because of this shit I’ve already lost her! Well it’s not going to happen this time!”

I watched Simon clench his hands and let go of them. I knew I had crossed a line but at the moment I really didn’t care. I was finally going insane. I had just gotten back Rose to have her taken away again. I just slumped my shoulders and took a deep breath.

“I have a proposition for you,” Simon said and I looked at him to continue, “I’ll let you boys leave this lifestyle. No strings attached.”

“What’s in it for you?” I asked knowing Simon didn’t do anything nice without him gaining from it.

“Nothing,” Simon sighed and looked over at Rose and then back at me, “Rosemarie reminds me of my daughter. She died because of this lifestyle and I can’t see another innocent girl die again. She may know how to hold her own but I don’t think I could watch her or any of your friends’ girlfriends dying either.”

“No strings you won’t call us back?” I asked.

“I will not call you back,” he said and stuck out his hand.

I knew this was a risky deal but I looked over at Rose and shook his hand.

“Deal,” I said and Simon smiled.

“Don’t let her go Harry,” he said, “She truly loves you.”

“I know Simon,” I said as I smiled at her, “She’s my life now.”

Simon then nodded his head and disappeared from the room. I took my spot back in the chair and just took in her features for the millionth time. Her dark brown hair fanned around her head and made her look almost angel like. She looked so peaceful just lying there. Her face held no painful emotion but you could see the bruises and the cuts that adorned her face and on the knuckles of her hands.

“You have to wake up princess,” I whispered, “I need you.”

I lightly kissed her forehead and I saw her eye lids flutter open. I watched her as she slowly opened her eyes and I grinned widely. I quickly called a nurse and her doctor quickly rushed over and checked her out. I was sitting out in the waiting room anxiously with everyone else I had managed to call while waiting when the doctor came out.

“Rosemarie Siege,” he said and I quickly stood up.

“How is she?” I asked anxious and nervous.

“Well her memory seems to be intact and she seems to be fine,” he said, “I still want to keep here for a couple of days to just make sure she’s alright but I want her to take it easy.”

“Alright,” I said grinning, “Can I see her?”

“Of course,” he said and then left.

I then looked at the boys and their girlfriends and we headed into her room. When we walked in, Rosemarie was sitting up in her bed and smiled as much as her injuries would let her when she saw us.

“There’s my trooper,” John Michael grinned at her.

“How long was I out?” she asked.

“A day,” I said, “You have a pretty bad concussions.”

“I know,” she said looking towards me, “The doctor said I could have some memory loss start to show up soon.”

“How bad?” Delilah asked.

“Um. . .they really didn’t say,” she said, “but I might ask questions over and over again.”

“Well we’ll work on that when the time comes,” I said pulling up a chair next to her bed again, “So you decided to hide from us for a month?”

“I figured it was safer for you guys to think I was gone and out of sight than to talk to me and get in trouble for it,” she said twisting the sheets in her hands, “I’d rather you guys be sad and then move on then to get hurt because of me.”

We all just rolled our eyes and shook our heads.

“Well you made us all cry you loser,” Delilah said, “I can’t believe you could make these boys cry.”

“You made Harry depressed the most,” Danielle said.

“I did,” she said and I could hear the guilt in her voice.

“How about we talk about the fight,” I said, “So from what I heard from the nurses here, you did a lot of damage to Chad.”

“Oh yeah,” she said giving me a thankful smile, “How bad was it?”

“He has amnesia,” Niall said, “He can’t remember the last year.”

“Really,” she said shocked.

“Yeah,” Liam said, “Who would’ve known you were such a kickass fighter.”

“I told you all I boxed for ten years,” she said rolling her one eye that was swelled shut.

“Well I believe you,” Zayn said and she laughed a bit but winced.

“I have cracked ribs,” she said and we all smiled a little at her.

“He did a number on you,” John Michael said.

“Not as much as you did on him but you didn’t walk away scratch free,” Eleanor said.

We then spent the next hour catching up when there was a knock at the door. We all looked up and saw eight people standing in the doorway and I saw Rose’s smile light up.

“We heard you woke up,” Jake said and nodded his head at Harry.

“Come in,” she said and then laughed and winced when they brought in a unicorn pillow pet thing.

“We figured you might want this from the apartment,” a girl with fake red hair said.

“Thanks Zoe,” she grinned, “Guys these are my friends I made from the gym I work at now. Meet Jake, Zander, Jimmy, Brian and their girlfriends, Zoe, Wendy, and Hallie.”

“Hi,” we all said.

“And you guys meet my family. The boy sitting with the black haired girl is my brother John Michael and his girlfriend Katy, the couple next to them are Louis and Eleanor, next to Eleanor is Niall and Delilah, next to Dee is Danielle and Liam, and next to Liam is Zayn and Perrie.”

“Nice to meet you all,” they said.

“And then this boy,” she said looking over and smiling as widely as possible, “is my street rat Harry.”

“All I have to say to you is fuck up her heart and we’ll all kill you,” Zoe said in all seriousness and we all laughed.

“Trust us we’ll be joining you,” Louis grinned.

We then just sat around Rose’s hospital room and talked. It was great. Rose was smiling whiling holding onto my hand in conversation with the girls and I was watching everyone getting along. It seemed like things were finally going right and I finally got it all rather than nothing at all.
