Chapter 50

”I thought that maybe you’d like to rent a movie, buy some candy and just… chill” he said while his breath turned into smoke into the cold-minus-degrees-air.
"I’ve felt really tired after this week packed with dance, so I’d actually love to" I said, making him smile widely.

We were both kicked into the glittering white snow on our way to his home. The beautiful sky was shifting between orange, pink, purple and blue, all in dark shades, and I’m feeling happy. Everything is just the way it’s supposed to be with the dance, my friends and my very own Harry.
The last time I felt this happy about my life was the second before I read Megan’s text message she’d sent to Harry, and that was when all that pointless drama began. I’m trying my best to forget about it though.
We decided to hurry our way to his home and leave our training bags as we then headed towards the shops.

Once we arrived to the store, it had managed to become darker outside and the streetlights were turned on.
“I guess we will have to speed up a bit, if we don’t want the monsters to kidnap us on our way back home later” he said with a wink as he jokingly pushed my arm, making me laugh.

The warmth quickly embraced our bare faces once we’d put our feet in the store. I asked if he could pick a movie while I’d buy the snacks, which he agreed on.
I went to the candy rack and took a small red spotty paper bag from the big pile, grabbed a red candy shovel and began to pick immediately. My tactic was to take as many varieties as possible without it getting too much in the bag.

When I felt ready and was about to fold the grooved edge of the bag, I heard Christopher ask me if I was done from behind. I nodded her head in response.
"I'll just get the soda and then I'm completely done"
I went to the display case to pick out a one and a half liter coke as I then turned around to meet his gaze.

"What movie did you choose?"
"I don’t really know, any movie that looked to be cool," he said while he held up the case, which to judge seemed to be a horror movie. A man was standing in a room in profile with shadow over his half body, and the room was worn in varying shades of red, black and gray. In the corner of the room was a little girl’s silhouette. Creepy enough.
He stretched out his hand to me, which made me look at him questioningly.
"Well… the candy and the soft drink?"
"Oh," I murmured with a smile while I stretched out the candy bag and the soda bottle as he took them, while we headed towards the cashier.
“That will be around 15 pounds please”

I put my hand into my jacket’s pocket to fish out my five-pound note, and when I’d finally found it, after tons of struggle, I heard the cashier thanking him. That’s when I saw him holding out exactly 15 pounds to the lady as he turned to face me.
"My treat," he said flashing a smirk.
“No, I can’t let do that. Let me at least pay the half of it!” I tried desperately, but he just shook his head in response.
The woman laid the things that we’d paid for in a white plastic bag before she reached it out to Christopher, who happily accepted it.

We turned around and walked towards the exit without saying a word to each other, and that was when I realized that it was completely pitch black outside, and the only thing that lit up the cozy streets except for the streetlights, were the lights of the traffic.
“So…” He started off.
“Looking forward to watch the movie?”
I giggled.
“I don’t really know. It had gone ages since I last saw a horror movie, and be prepared, I do easily get scared”
He laughed.
“Well then, I guess the last thing I will have to take care of is myself" he smiled widely, making me blush.

We kept the conversation active as we crossed the road as soon while it got lighter in the heavy traffic. We walked past shop after shop and café after café, the air that felt even chillier than before so we tried to walk as fast as we possibly could.
There were cars driving in pretty high speed everywhere, although it was almost nine o’clock. The truth is that if you’ve got the right contacts; the student life will be is amazing. But I don’t have the right contacts, and to be honest: I don’t care about the student life anymore. I’m here to study and to one day become something big and great. Party? I’ll save it to the day I’ll manage to reach my goal.

“Look!” he almost shouted as he was pointing towards one of the cafés on the other side of the street. “Isn’t that Megan?”
I tried to get a closer look as a big bus decided to slowly drive past the café, blocking my view.
Eventually, it had moved far enough for me to see a small part of the girl, but I could tell right away that it was her. She was sitting next to the big window, and I could reveal her identity just by seeing her beautifully black, long and wavy hair.It seemed like she was sitting and laughing hysterically in the warm café, probably some to joke that the person she was with pulled. I couldn’t see who she was sitting with in the cafeteria as the bus still was on the road, but I didn’t care so much, so I turned my gaze and was about to get going.
“Should we say hi to her or something?” he asked politely.

I stopped and glared irritatingly at Christopher, making him laugh. I got slightly angry at just the thought of Me saying hi to her? Hell to the no. I have at least got some dignity.
“I was just joking around with you” he jokingly pushed my arm, and we began walking again.
He glanced at the cafeteria one last time time.
“Hey, isn’t that the guy you were talking to earlier?”

Oh my god. He was being really annoying right now.

I turned towards it once more, and all I could see from here was a blurry silhouette sitting in front of Megan. I tried my best to focus, and I managed to clear out that it was a guy. I took a pair of steps towards the café to get a better view, I don’t know why I’m acting so interested though. I mean, it’s probably her date or something, but It’d be fun to see who she’s going to torture for at least the upcoming couple of months. The guy was pretty muscular, but nothing like Harry. He was wearing an ugly red blazer, a garment Harry would’ve never worn. But there was something about his hair. It was in a shade of darker brown, and I could bet that I… that I could see… curls.
I started walking towards the café even more as I could hear Christopher shout, almost scream, from behind.
“Watch out Sara, the car!”
I turned away my gaze from the guy as I realized that I was standing in the middle of the road, and a black car was getting closer with a high speed. I quickly ran to the other side of the road, where the café was. Shit, close to death experience or what?

“Sarah, what the fuck?!” I heard him shout from the other side of street.
Now that I was just standing a few feet away from the window, I discreetly watched him as my stomach dropped and I felt a big lump growing in my throat.
That smile, those dimples, those beautifully green eyes… They were all directed towards Megan.

What was he doing in a cafeteria with her? What was he doing at all? I thought he was supposed to be doing his homework? Wasn’t that the reason for not hanging with me? Doesn’t he want me anymore? Doesn’t he love me?
Okay Sarah, calm down. Maybe he felt like being done with his homework, and decided to just simply grab a coffee with a friend? Maybe he didn’t call me because he knew I was going to spend my evening with my friend. But then again, he did say to me that he’d be busy with his homework during this whole weekend, and he thought, and does still think that I’m alone in my house. He has no idea about me watching a movie with Christopher.

I need some kind of a proof that my last theories are wrong. What if I call him? Yes, if I call him he will be telling me that he’s with Megan. That he thought I was sleeping and he didn’t want to wake me up, because if he’d wake me up he’d feel a mayor amount of guilt or something cheesy like that. Although there would be no logic about it.
But I was in a need for it. I was desperate for an excuse. I didn’t and I couldn’t believe he was… cheating on me. At least I didn’t want to believe it.

I pulled off my fluffy glows as I finally reached my phone out of my pocket. I quickly scrabbled down my contacts until I saw his name.

‘Harry Styles’

I pressed ‘call’ and slowly held the phone towards my ear as I heard signals peeping at the same time while I was watching him carefully through the window. He was still laughing unperturbedily and each signal coming from my phone's small speaker felt like an eternity.

But then he reacted.

I could see that he made an attempt to stand up, but only to pick out his phone from his back pocket of his jeans. He sat down on his chair again as he read the screen, probably reading my name. His smile fainted away and I could tell that he was clearing his throat.
He lifted his gaze up towards Megan as he clicked on a button on his phone and pushed it back into his pocket, while he shook his head.
