Lavender & Roses

II

Again, the girl with the lavender hair was in the same place as Niall, Louis, Liam and I. She was looking as beautiful as the last few times I had seen her. After the night at the pub, I saw her again, but she wasn't with Niall. Niall wasn't even around. I had been shopping not too far from my house and she was in a shop just across the street. She looked relaxed and almost happy when I saw her. I wanted to speak to her but I was too afraid to. I didn't want her to think I was super strange or unhinged. Plus, she was dating Niall. I couldn't get him to admit it to me or the other boys but he instantly got mad whenever I asked about her.

"Lavender" came running over to Niall. She was freaked out. Her eyes were wide, her lips swollen and her cheeks drained of the rosy color I had been seeing. She ran straight into Niall's arms. He held her close and tight.
"Are you alright?" Niall asked her quietly, brushing her hair away from her face. She shook her head and mumbled something to him. "Well, we just got here, babe." Niall sighed. He looked back at Liam, Louis and myself. "Come sit with us." I knew my eyes lit up because Niall glared at me. The girl nodded shyly. Niall released her and she seemed okay. Until he tried to walk away. She grabbed Niall's wrist quickly. Niall gazed at her concerned but he sighed and put his arm around her. "Let's get a table boys." Niall said to Louis, Liam and I. The three of us nodded and let Niall and the girl lead us to a booth in the back of the pub. It wasn't crowded around the table and it was a bit darker. I sat down on the end quickly. Liam scooted in from the opposite side toward the middle and Louis took a seat next to him. "Sit down. I'm going to go get your bag and coat." Niall instructed her. The girl looked between Louis and I for a moment. I saw Niall smirk a bit. The girl moved toward my side of the table, keeping her eyes on Louis. I could tell by the way she was looking at him, she wasn't fond of him. I moved in so she could sit beside me. She sat right on the edge of the booth. "I will be right back. I promise." Niall spoke with assurance. He bolted away after the girl nodded.
We had been sitting in silence for only a moment and I already couldn't handle it. I leaned over to the girl and held my hand out to her.
"I'm Harry." I spoke calmly and politely. She gazed at me with wonder in her eyes.
"I know who you are." She stated quietly.
I chuckled, "But I've not met you properly before. I'm being polite." She slapped her hand over her face turning a light shade of pink. I pushed my hand a little closer to her. "Harry."
She giggled and placed her hand in mine, "Sadie."
"Sadie." I repeated quietly. Sadie bit her lip and nodded. "Lovely name." I complimented her.
"Thanks but Niall and everyone else just call me DeeDee." She informed me.
"Which do you prefer?" I asked leaning closer to her again.
She shrugged, "Either is fine. I'm not picky about it."
"This is Liam and Louis." I pointed to each as I said their names. They unisoned a hello. Louis leaned on the table, making Sadie lean back a bit.
"How do you know our Niall?" Louis asked of her.
Sadie spoke almost inaudibly, "We grew up together." Louis leaned forward again as a group of people came near our table. Sadie looked at me worried, "Um, Harry?" I hummed at her. "Would you mind switching seats with me?"
"Oh sure." I smiled. She was obviously uncomfortable on the end. She stood, keeping a hand on the back of the booth. Once I was out of the booth she slid in. I returned my bum to the seat and got comfortable. As soon as I did, Sadie moved a little closer to me. I wanted to smile stupidly because she was gravitating toward me. I saw her perk up a little when Niall returned to the booth. He looked over at Sadie and I curiously.
"Here, babe." Niall handed Sadie her bag and her jacket. When Niall sat down, he forced Louis and Liam to move over. When that happened, Liam got closer to Sadie. She instantly scooted closer to me. "DeeDee, you okay?" Niall asked with concerned eyes. She nodded and wrapped her arms around her waist. "You're sure?" Niall pressed on.
"NiNi, I'll be fine." She replied softly. I was curious as to why he was so worried about her. I also began to notice that she didn't feel like the same person I'd met at his house a couple of weeks before. She was quieter, more shy. Definitely not as tenacious. Niall stared at the beautiful girl for a moment longer then started conversation with Liam, Louis and I.
"So, when should we start planning a boys' holiday?" Niall asked us. We all glanced at each other, shrugging.
"This is why someone else needs to plan it. We're awful." I laughed quietly.
"Um, I...I can help." Sadie muttered. I turned my head to her. She blushed, "I mean, if you really want help." I glanced at Niall and the other boys with a smile. Niall was smiling a bit as well.
"Sure! If you think that you can plan for four men." Liam stated.
"Are you joking? This is my job." Sadie giggled quietly. She picked up her bag from the seat beside her and pulled out her iPad. She typed a few things then a screen of her and Niall popped up. I frowned a little seeing the picture of him with his arm around her and them both smiling brightly.
"So you do this for a living? You're a travel agent?" I asked Sadie casually.
She shrugged, "Kind of. I don't actually meet with the clients. But I do all of the calling and paperwork and stuff. I like it. I can have it done in a few hours really." I leaned back and watched her navigate through a series of web pages.
"How has work been?" Niall inquired of Sadie.
She nodded, "Good actually." Niall lifted his eyebrow at her. She sighed, "Well, I've had a couple of bad days but I just stayed home and worked from there." Niall gave her another look. "Okay so I stayed in bed but I did finish a few things. It just took all day really." Sadie murmured like she was embarrassed. Niall frowned but didn't say anything. "Okay. So, where do you want to go?" Sadie asked with a smile.
"Hawaii." We unisoned.
"The big island or one of the others?" Sadie giggled when we boys exchanged unsure glances. "We'll decide that in a second I guess. What do you guys want to do?"
"I'd like to surf." Liam stated.
"Just beaches and relaxing." Niall added.
Sadie smirked, "You mean bitches." Niall scowled at her. I pursed my lips to hold in a laugh. "What? You act like I don't know you're a disgusting boy. I've known you since we were three. I know that you are going to try to get pussy like it's water." Sadie giggled.
"Watch your mouth." Niall grimaced.
Sadie rolled her eyes, "You can say that stuff but I can't?" Niall folded his arms over his chest and pouted. "Fine. Fine. I'm sorry." Sadie huffed. "Can we focus on this?" She inquired pointing to the iPad. "Now, if you want surf and stuff. I suggest the big island because it's a bit more tourist-y. And hey, international pop-stars...you'll have girls everywhere." Sadie teased once again.
"That's not what we're actually looking for on this trip Dee." Niall grunted at her.
Her brow furrowed, "You know, I always wondered what went on on that bus late at night." Niall groaned and let his head drop to the table. I let out a loud laugh and hit the table gently. Louis and Liam looked at me like I was crazy.
"What? I thought it was funny." I said shyly.
"She can tease us about the gay thing but someone else can't?" Louis asked of me.
"Well, she obviously isn't serious about it." I motioned to the beautiful girl at my side. She stared at me curiously. "What?" I asked her calmly.
"People really ask you in a serious manner if you're gay?" She inquired.
I nodded, "Yeah, you've not seen any of the stuff about it?"
She shook her head, "I try to stay away from Niall's work stuff." She turned her eyes back to the iPad. "And I don't read trash." She grumbled.
"DeeDee, let it go, babe." Niall huffed. "I wasn't dating her. I will never be dating her. Don't worry about it. The papers blew it out of proportion." Niall spoke with an assuring tone again. Sadie didn't really acknowledge Naill. She just mocked his facial expressions and the tone of his voice as she muttered to herself.
"Yeah, he's dating you right? Nothing to worry about." I said trying to coax the truth from them. Sadie snapped her eyes up to mine, wearing a disgusted expression.
"Date Niall? Have sex with Niall?" She inquired like she was trying to hold back laughter. I just lifted an eyebrow at her. She pointed at me and laughed loudly. "He thinks...GROSS! I wouldn't ever do that. Seriously? Ni?" She shook her head with amusement.
"Hey, you know some girls would kill for it." Niall defended himself.
Sadie smirked, "Yeah let them fight. You're Irish, they're not going to be fighting over much. It'll be mortal combat over a salad cucumber." Louis, Liam and I were all holding back laughter. "And then if they did get a shot, I'd just tell them all of the stories about you running around me house in your undies yelling about being Tarzan. So either way, you're not getting any." I glanced at Niall to see his face was bright red. "Ni, I'm joking." Sadie giggled quietly. Niall shook his head and pouted again. "I want you to get a girlfriend. Maybe you won't worry about me as much." She sighed going back to her iPad.
"Someone needs to worry about you." Niall huffed.
"Niall, not tonight, okay?" Sadie's face showed embarrassment again. I wondered why. Niall sighed quietly and nodded, agreeing to drop the topic.

I leaned over Sadie's shoulder and watched what she was doing on her iPad. She was still working on our boys' vacation. She glanced up at me and smiled nervously. She didn't say anything but she looked uncomfortable.
"Am I bothering you?" I asked her softly. Sadie shook her head and kept her eyes on her screen. "It feels like you're bothered." I chuckled.
"Um, I'm...I'm not." She blushed again and said, "You're just really close to me."
"Hey, I've not moved. You keep coming toward me." I teased her so Niall couldn't hear even though he was deep within a conversation with Liam and Louis. Her blush grew into a deeper shade of red. I smiled at her. She was adorable when she was blushing. She looked so innocent as compared to the way she looked when I first saw her.
Sadie's eyes finally met mine, "Harry?" They were nervous again.
"Yes?" I smiled cheekily at her, wanting her to feel at ease. And I didn't want Niall to yell at me for making things awkward.
"I wanted to apologized for yelling at you at the party. That wasn't...I was having a bad day." Sadie said with a genuinely sorry tone.
I shrugged, "You were annoyed and upset. I'm not mad about it."
"It was rude and I shouldn't have snapped at you. I know you meant well." Sadie's eyes saddened.
"It's okay, Sadie." I smiled. "Everyone has bad days. And not everyone has to deal with girls like that all the time." Sadie just nodded and gazed into my eyes for a moment. I bit my lip when I saw a slight desire in her eyes when they dropped to my lips for a moment. "What did that girl say to you anyway?" I asked wanting to get to the bottom of her outburst.
"She said something nasty about Niall." Sadie replied.
"Nasty as in mean?" I tried to clarify.
She huffed, "Nasty as in sexual. Nobody talks about him in those graphic terms."
I gave her a stunned expression, "But you just..."
"That's different. I'm saying it to his face. I'm not serious. And I've known the boy since we were three. The dynamic is just different. I'm not a stupid whore trying to get in his pants for his money." Sadie seemed genuinely angry now.
I laid my hand on her shoulder, "Hey, it's alright. I'm sure that girl will think twice the next time." Sadie surveyed my hand, like she was deciding how she felt about me touching her. I quickly removed my hand. Her face dropped, like she was sad or disappointed. She didn't say anything though. She just went back to planning the vacation for me and the boys.

"No. I'll drive you home." Sadie argued with Niall.
"DeeDee, it's late and you really need to get home. We'll take a taxi." Niall spoke with concern.
Sadie shook her head vehemently, "No. No way. I will take you guys home. I'm not letting you get into a cab. I won't let you." I lifted my eyebrow. What was wrong with a taxi? "Ni, please, just get in the car." Sadie pleaded. Niall looked at Liam, Louis and I, like he was asking out opinions. I shrugged. I didn't care how I got home just as long as I got there.
Niall groaned, "Fine, but you're staying with me tonight then." Sadie rolled her eyes but agreed. I reached for the door handle only to have Niall stop me. "Wait." I lifted my eyebrow again. Then I heard the door unlock then re-lock. Sadie did it three times. Niall motioned for me to get into the car after the third time. I thought it was strange. I shook it off and climbed into the car. Everyone had quirks.

Sadie pulled up to my house. I looked up at my bedroom window then back at Sadie. I didn't want to get out of her car. I wanted to stay with her. I wanted to talk to her. I wanted to get to the bottom of whatever was going on with her. She felt different than that first night and all the reasons why she did were bothering me.
"Harry, you awake back there?" Niall asked slapping my knee. He turned in his seat to look at me directly. "We're at your place." I chuckled and acted like I was oblivious. In reality, I was too busy staring at Sadie's perfect mouth in the rear-view mirror. Her lips looked so kissable with the way they were painted in a lovely plum shade.
"Thanks Sadie." I smiled warmly at her. She glanced back at me with those intense, icy eyes and nodded. She didn't say a word though. I pat Niall on the shoulder before climbing out of the car. As much as I wanted to stay with Sadie, I was also wanting to get in my bed.
"Hey, Harry?" Niall called out to me. I pivoted toward him. "I'm gonna come over tomorrow. I wanna chat to you about something."
"Alright. Not too early though. I like sleeping in." I laughed lightly. I could tell he was a little annoyed by the way his eyes were examining me and how he was hanging out of Sadie's window.
"Ni, you promised me that we'd go down to the river walk tomorrow." Sadie whined at Niall.
"We will, DeeDee." Niall laughed at how childish she sounded. I laughed as well. She sounded so innocent again. I ducked down to gaze at her again. Niall put his head in my line of vision. He glared at me, "Goodnight, Harry."
"Night Niall." I snickered a bit. "Goodnight Sadie. It was lovely to meet you and not have you yell at me." I teased.
She blushed and tucked her hair behind her ear shyly, "Goodnight Harry." I waved to her one last time.
"See you in the morning, Niall." I grumbled seeing his glare once again.
