The Bachelorette

Before The Party

The journey for love starts now

Clara’s POV

Love was a beautiful thing. But it was also a scary thing. And I was about to put my heart out on the line. I was ready to find the man of my dreams. My Prince Charming. I knew I was young, only 24, but I was ready to start a life with someone. I wanted to wake up every morning next to a man who told me he loved me first thing. I wanted to go to sleep every night next to a man who told me he loved me before I closed my eyes. Was that too much to ask for?

I had tried to find that special someone but he never came. Now I was about to live in a mansion with 14 guys and hopefully, one of them would be the love of my life. Let’s be honest, when I told my family about being The Bachelorette, they weren’t that impressed but when I told them I just wanted to try it. You never know, one of the 14 men could be my future husband.

My breathing quickened and my heart raced on the drive to the mansion. I was incredibly nervous but at the same time, very excited. I looked out of the tinted window, stars twinkling against the black velvet night sky. To think that this could be the night when my fairy-tale love story begins, it made a smile spread across my face. I was a simple down-to-earth Australian girl with only one wish.

To find love.

The black limo came to a halt and I took a few deep breaths, fixing my hair quickly as the car door opened. I looked up to see the driver standing to the side, holding the door open for me. I gathered the skirt of my dress and placed my right shining silver heel on the ground, my left one quickly following. I stood up and shut the door behind me.

I put on a nervous smile and walked up the path slowly. I didn’t want to trip because that wouldn’t look good on national television. My goal was to forget about the cameras and focus on the guys I would be meeting tonight. Get to know them and see if there was a connection. I turned the corner and the mansion came into view.

It was huge. Like extremely huge. I knew I wouldn’t be living in it the whole time because I had my private bachelorette pad that was located close by but I would be spending quite a bit of time in the mansion with the men. It was where the cocktail parties and rose ceremonies would be held. Hugs would be shared inside, kisses would be created inside and sparks would fly. At least I hoped so.

(A/N: Just imagine it's night time!)

I saw the host, Mark Evans, standing in front of the flower-covered fountain. I walked up to him as he opened his arms, welcoming me to the mansion.

“Clara, welcome to your mansion. You look beautiful.”

“Thank you.” I smiled as he gave me a hug. I would lying if I said I wasn’t nervous as hell. My hands were shaking and my heart trembled.

“So, you’re the Bachelorette.” Mark said when he let me go and it made me realise I was actually the Bachelorette. It was all real and this wasn’t a dream.

“And you’re here to find love. Do you think it could happen?”

“I do, I really do. I want this experience to open my eyes and in a matter of minutes…”

“Seconds.” Mark corrected me with a smile.

“In a matter of seconds, I could be meeting the man I spend the rest of my life with. Someone that I have never met and probably wouldn’t have met if I didn’t do this. So, I’m ready.” I grinned.

“You excited? Nervous?” Mark asked.

“Both.” I answered and we both laughed.

“OK, deep breaths. You are the Bachelorette and I hear the first car pulling up right now. So, good luck, Clara. Let the journey begin.” He gave me another hug and kissed my cheek before walking around the fountain and up the steps into the mansion.

I faced forward and prepared myself. Soon, I was going to be surrounded by 14, hopefully amazing, men. I knew all of them would want to make a good impression and I too wanted to make a good impression because after all, they were here to find love with a mystery woman who was me. I wanted to make the men feel comfortable, even though my heart was about to explode out of my chest. I heard footsteps and looked up to see the first bachelor walking around the corner. I gave him a warm smile as he approached me, my hands clasped together in front of me as I thought one thing.

Now it begins.
