Most of my mornings consisted of this: running around the house frantically, trying to get dressed at the last possible minute as I trip and stumble my way around the room.

"Nathan, baby, are you ready? We've got to go soon!" I shout from my spot in my bathroom as I attempt to brush through my dark brown hair. In my hasty rush to get dressed, I ended up throwing on a peach colored crop top paired with my favorite pair of ripped white skinny jeans. I splashed on minimal makeup - eyeliner and mascara, with some nude matte lipstick.

"I'm ready, momma. Can I go watch some tv?" I turn my head and look at my son standing in my doorway. Dressed in a pair of pale red Bermuda shorts with a light gray long sleeve, my son Nathan was gazing up at me with his big brown puppy dog eyes he had perfected years ago. You couldn't say no to him.

"Sure, babe. Momma will be ready in a minute, okay? And then I'll take you Nana's." I try to slip in nonchalantly, with no such luck.

"Nana's? I thought I was going to daddy's." Explaining to my child that his father had to cancel for the third time this month because he 'didn't have the time' was going to be heartbreaking. Although David wasn't around enough to even really know his son, Nathan loved his father and he loved spending time with him -when he got to. It was truly heartbreaking.

"Daddy is...busy today, bud. Maybe he'll take you to that baseball game you want to go to this weekend. I'll ask, okay?" I bend down to be at Nathan's level and press a kiss to his forehead before pulling away and looking at his sad face.

"Okay..." Nate trailed off, turning away and walking downstairs. I exhale a deep sigh and stand up to finish getting ready. I slip on my peach colored ankle booties and grab my peach shoulder purse, along with my phone. I walk downstairs and into the living room, where Nathan was sitting in the recliner watching SpongeBob SquarePants.

"C'mon, baby, it's time to go." Nathan grab the remote in his tiny hands and turns the tv off before hopping from his seat and walking toward me. I run my hand through his shaggy brown hair and grab my keys off of the hook by the front door. I grab Nathan's hand and walk him out to the car, opening the back door and helping get buckled in his booster car seat.

"Oh my God, and this is why I love you." One of the two coffees I was attempting to balance in my hand was suddenly whisked away, and I step into the small boutique, the glass door swinging shut behind me. Josie, my business partner/best friend, takes a dramatic gulp of her coffee before sending me a cheesy smile. I roll my eye playfully and make my way to the back room of the store, where we kept all of our personal belongings. It was also my office, where I handled all of the bills and things.

"So..." Josie trails off when I walk back into the front of the store. I roll my eyes and look over at her. I knew what she was going to ask. She asked the same damn question every Friday. " A couple of us girls are going out tomorrow night, and I would love for you to come. Nathan can spend the night with your mom, everything will work out great!"

"I don't know, Josie." I sigh. I very rarely went out with friends, almost never. It just didn't sound very appealing; I would much rather stay at home and watch Star Wars with my son. It was what I loved to do.

"Come on, Ry! It's just one night! And plus, maybe you'll find a really hot guy." Another thing I didn't have the interest in or the time for: a relationship. The past five years has been just me and Nathan, and I didn't want that to change. Our life was perfect, and we didn't need a man in our life. Not now, anyway.

"I'll think about it." I conclude.

The rest of the day passes pretty quickly, and soon, I'm pulling into my mom's driveway. I walk in the front door and head towards the kitchen, where my mom was almost always cooking. With how much my mother cooked when I was growing up, I'm surprised I'm not three hundred pounds overweight.

"Hey mom." I lay my keys on the counter and sit down in a kitchen chair.

"Hey, sweetheart. Nate is in the living room watching the game with your father." I nod my head and pull my heavy dark hair in a ponytail.

"Are you staying for dinner tonight? I'm making lasagna."

"Not tonight. Tonight is mac n' cheese burger night." I laugh. Tiny little footsteps sound from the living room before my son appears in the kitchen, running up to hug me.

"Hi, Momma!" I wrap my arms around him and pull him into my lap, pressing a kiss to his temple.

"Hey, baby boy. How was your day with Nana and Papa?"

"It was good! Nana gave me ice cream and gummy worms!" I shoot a look over at my mom, who shrugs guiltily and sends me a small smile.

"That was supposed to me a secret." My mom says to Nathan, who widens his eyes.

"Oops."

I finish cleaning the mess in the kitchen and turn the light out when I'm done. I trail into the living room, where Nathan was sound asleep on the couch, his favorite Disney movie 'The Lion King' was playing quietly in the background. I smile softly and walk over to pick him up and carry him up to his room.

I lay him down in his red race car bed and pull the covers back to tuck him in. I had given him his bath and changed him into his pajamas before dinner, because I knew he was going to be tired after eating.

"Goodnight, baby boy. Momma loves you." I whisper quietly after pulling the covers up to his shoulders. I kiss his forehead lightly and brush his hair back with my hand. I walk out of his bedroom and turn the light out before going to take my shower. Most of my nights usually consisted of this: coming home, giving Nathan his bath, cooking dinner, Nathan falling asleep during a movie causing me to carry him up to his bed, and then getting ready for bed myself. It was tiring, yes, but it was my life. And I loved it; I wouldn't change it for anything in the whole wide world. Ever.
