Torn

It's Getting Worse

CALLIE'S POINT OF VIEW

I wake up, and that feeling that I've had for a couple weeks, is back. Terror, dread, fear. I hate that Jonathan is the only person who can make me feel like that. I huff, and walk over to my closet. I look down at what I'm wearing. Black hoodie, grey sweatpants. I change my pants to skinny jeans, put the hair I still need to re dye in a ponytail, and walk out into the living room, heading for the door.

I hear Jonathan's friends make little comments about me, but I try to ignore them the best I can. Saying something will only make this worse.

"Did you see her talking to that guy next door?" I hear one of them whisper. "I don't know why they're together. She's quiet, and he's a wimp." I grit my teeth together and keep walking.

"That little bitch called the cops on Jonathan too." I hear. Oh, curse these issues of mine.

I turn around, "I'm quiet because if I'm not I'll get more beat up, and Calum is more fucking man than any of you. He actually gives a shit about me, unlike Jonathan who DESERVED to go to jail, for killing my mom!" I snap.

"Why don't you come over here and put that pretty little mouth to good use, instead of blabbing lies?" One of them ask. I grab my backpack.

"No." I mumble.

"No, I think that's exactly what she wants." The other one says. They start walking over to me, and I get the door open right when one of them grabs my arm. I growl, and try pulling away, which doesn't work very well. I bite his arm, and when he flinches, I run out the door, and get in Calum's car, trembling.

"Are you okay?" He asks.

"Yep, fine." I lie. That happens almost every day.. It's going to happen eventually.

When we get to school, Jess approaches us. I am so sick of her shit. I walk away, when she grabs my arm in the same spot the guy did, and I flinch really hard, and scream a little bit. I look back at everyone else, who all seem really confused.

"What was that?" Jess asks, not taking her hand off me.

"C-Can you just let go." I say quietly, staring at her hand.

"Uh. Well so my parents are finally getting married," She goes into long detail about her super young parents never getting married since she was born when her mom was fifteen, so they're doing it now, and she wants us to go.

"I can't." I say quietly again, and gesture for my arm to be free.

"Please? You used to be my best friend, theyre going to start asking questions if you aren't there." I laugh a little.

"Well I'm sorry you can't handle being asked QUESTIONS, Jess." I snap, and pull my arm away. I walk to my locker, and Calum comes up to me. "Don't." I huff, knowing he's going to say about the wedding thing.

"I didn't say anything." He says. He was going to. "But, what happened when Jess grabbed your arm? I mean, you seemed really freaked out."

"I'm fine, it's fine." I mumble.

"Ooookay." He turns around.

"No, no wait," I turn him back around, "I'm sorry." I say, before setting my arms on his shoulders and standing on my tippy toes to kiss him.

"It's okay." He says against my lips.

MICHAEL'S POINT OF VIEW

"Hey dork." Morgan grins, as she comes up to my desk.

"Hello." I smile. Ashton looks at both of us, mumbles something about love, and stomps away.

"What's his deal?" Morgan asks.

"He's just grumpy because Jess didn't invite him to the wedding." I shrug.

"Oh." She sits where Ashton was, "Why isn't he invited?"

"Dunno." I shrug.

"Poor Ashton." She frowns. She puts her hand on my shoulder. She smells like strawberries. Throughout the class period, she snuggles more and more into me, and thank God we're in the back where the teacher can't see us, when I feel her head move, and her soft lips and slowly kiss they're way up my neck to my mouth. Instead of leaving it like that, she quietly climbs onto my lap, kissing me and slowly grinding into me. I almost moan, when I remember the people around us.

JESS

"Ashton what's the answer to number seven?" I whisper to him in third period.

"Figure it out yourself." He snaps. I raise my eyebrows, and scribble a random answer on the page.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"No talking." My teacher snaps. I roll my eyes. I look over at Ashton, watching him light a cigarette under the table. When the teacher turns around, he wraps his lips around it, sucking in, and flawlessly blowing he smoke back out. Students watch him of course, but no one is going to snitch, because everyone is afraid of us.

"Can i have some?" I ask, pointing to the cigarette in-between his fingers. He ignores me. Ooookay then. "Is this about us breaking up? Because I really don't care." I lie. I hate that we're broken up.

"No, Jess, not everything revolves around you." He rolls his eyes.

"Why are you being such a dick?" frown.

"Why didn't you invite me to your parents wedding?" He asks. The teacher turns around, and he takes another hit.

"I- I didn't think you'd want to come."

"We've been best friends since fifth grade, I've met your parents thousands of times, why wouldn't I want to come?"

"Things have just been so off with us lately, I figured-"

"You still could've invited me." He murmurs. Ashton puts the cigarette out on his pants, then when the bell rings, drops it on the ground. I walk after him.

"Okay, well then you're invited." I say awkwardly.

"Kay." He mumbles. He was so eager just a minute ago, I'm so confused.
