A Life for A Life

Hiding Under a Tour Bus

*Caitlyn’s POV*

It was pretty easy blending into the huge crowd that settled outside of the Verizon Center in DC. I knew security would be tight, but I also knew that their main concern would be to keep the fans from running to the stage. Girls were screaming as everybody seemed to crowd everywhere, hoping to catch a glimpse of the boys. I could care less about that, my only concern was to find their bus and hide inside long enough to get out of the city.

I did have my precautions though, I assumed there would have to be some picks I’d have to lock. I knew better than to hide in the boy’s tour bus itself, since that would be screaming for five pair of eyes to find me. What I loved about girls: endless supply of bobby pins.

It wasn’t hard to snatch some out of girl’s hairs without them noticing. My pickpocketing skills were pretty good too. I’d just grab them while I walked by, followed by sticking the little things in my pocket. I only grabbed about ten, only a few in which I trust would work.

I gave some lady my ticket, whereas she put this neon orange bracelet around my wrist. I looked around, seeing security guards everywhere. With my parents being in the CIA, they had a grip with the law enforcement in the city. I knew there would be law officials keeping an eye out for a dark haired girl with a paw birthmark on her neck.

Or not, maybe they’re just keeping an eye on the fans in case the boys came outside. I didn’t like to overthink things, but I knew I’d rather be safe than sorry.

The moment the clock ticked 6:00PM, the doors opened and fans went crowding in. I stayed with the pace, only minus the excitement. I knew it would be a bad move to head backstage now, so I decided to wait. I sat in my seat, keeping a low profile as I heard talking and screams everywhere.

An hour I had to sit and wait until the lights in the stadium shut off. Screams let out as anticipation for the boys to appear. I stood up with the crowd, looking at the huge display screen above the stage. A countdown began. With everyone distracted and excited to see the boys, I took this as my chance. I made my way from my seat to the aisle, keeping myself shadowed against the dark as the screen started counting backwards. No stage lights were on just yet, and I knew I had no time to be wasting before the security could spot me moving amongst the crowd.

I snuck to the side of the stage, maneuvering quickly from the crowd as security was having a small dilemma of keeping the fans held back. The only way backstage was through a doors on either side of the stage and the two openings on the stage that the boys would use. I chose the doors, for obvious reasons. I swung myself between two poles to keep from getting caught from a guard and slipped in the door quickly.

The countdown was done by then, and I could hear the screams through the walls as I continued down the small hallway. If I didn’t want to get caught, I had to find something to blend me in. Every person I tried to avoid had on a black t-shirt saying ‘STAFF’ on the back.

It gave me an idea.

I kept my eyes peeled and sharp as I looked around, trying to find a shirt. A grin lit my face as I did and I walked by, quickly taking it. I ran to a nearby door, stepping in. I stripped off the tee-shirt I was wearing and put on the staff shirt. I stuck the shirt through the loop of my jeans, making sure not to lose it.

It wasn’t five seconds I was outside of the door I was pulled to the side. “You! I need you to-”

“I can’t.” I interrupted. “I got to head back to station 6 and take control of the mics.”

Whatever it was I said made him curse under his breath. “Damn it. Okay, if you find someone free, tell them to find me.”

He walked off. I shook my head, heading the opposite direction. I was quick with my movements, making myself seem busy and needing to be somewhere. Nobody paid any mind to me and I easily found my way to the back doors, quickly exiting out.

It wasn’t hard to spot which tour bus was the boys. I looked around, curious to see if any fans were around. Surprising the streets were filled as much anymore. I guess the stadium somehow fit 20,000 people in the arena.

I touched the side of the bus, seeing the large carriers that was to possess each of the boy’s bags. If one found it strange to be hiding in an area with a bunch of bags, I’d say it’s better than walking in a sewer. I got out the bobby pins I found earlier, sticking them in the locks, quickly working. It unlatched and I quickly opened it, glad to see there was plenty of room for me to lay down with barely much of any bags in my way. Less bags meant less chance of being seen.

I pulled the lid up, smothering myself in darkness. I sighed deeply, laying back. For once I felt as if I could relax my muscles a bit.

For now I was safe, but I knew with my luck, it wouldn’t last long. I’ll savor the peace for now.
