"Cade, I'm home sweetheart!" I call out, laughing to myself. "Cade?"

Cade not being here has me a little surprised but doesn't mark much of a worry. I fall onto the couch, placing my feet onto the coffee table. Night time television sucks as I find some random movie to mindlessly watch.
"Hey." Cade chirps as the door opens.
"Where were you?" I ask, moving over on the couch.
"No where."
"Ok." I blank.
He sighs. "A date, ok?"
"A date?" I question with much enthusiasm.
"Yeah, but could you not grill me?" He whines.
I put my hands up.

An awkward moment of silence surpasses between us.
"Well?" I poke.
"She's chill."
"Yeah? What does she look like?"
"Brunette, about 5'6, blue eyes, gorgeous smile." He explains.

I search through the many faces of girls on campus, trying to figure out Cade's mystery girl. "Does she have a name?"
Cade looks at me before looking at his hands. "It's Holly."
I nearly choke, ignorantly ignoring the description he just gave. "What?" I bark.
He laughs. "I'm just joking. Holly doesn't have brown hair and I'm pretty sure she made it clear she doesn't care much for me."
I take a deep breath, before punching him in the arm. "You dick."
Cade continues to laugh.
"Come on, what's her name?"
He hesitates before mumbling an answer. "Sam."
My ears had to be deceiving me. "Did you say Sam?"
He smirks, nodding his head.
I nearly can't believe it. "You dog!" I laugh. "Is she as bland as she is in class?"
"No definitely not." He quickly replies.
"Oh?"
"Not like that, Styles. Technically we were just hanging out."
"Whatever you say, Cade." I mock, smirking.

I decide to drop the subject letting Cade bask in whatever glory he seems to be having. I huff a laugh to myself, possibly still in disbelief that he actually asked Sam out.

"Hey," I blurt out. "We can double date now."
"Absolutely not." Cade quickly dismisses.
"Why not?"
"Holly would absolutely eat her up and you know that."
"No she wouldn't." My tone is a bit defensive as I'm taken back by Cade's forcefulness.
"Fine, but not now. Too early in the game."
"Fair." I nod.

Cade yawns excusing himself to bed. I follow suite, crashing into bed. My mind races as I stare at the ceiling. I'm happy for Cade but I can't help but feel a tint of jealously.

The week crawls by finally presenting me with Friday. I shuffle into Watson's class surprised to see Cade in his original seat.
"What are you doing down here?" I ask, filing into my seat.
"Giving her some space."
"Why?" I huff.
"Because I don't want to seem like I'm suffocating her or need to be around her 24/7."
I roll my eyes. "Girls like that stuff mate."
Cade glances back at Sam giving her a wink. "Besides," he speaks up. "I don't want you to feel left out, buddy."
"Yeah, yeah." I shrug him off. "Are you going to Smee's place tonight? Heard its going to be ace."
He hesitates. "I was kind of hoping I could see her."
"Um, invite her out to the party?"
"Yeah, I could do that." He nods.
"You're doing it, Cade. I'm so proud."
He laughs. "Fuck off."

I skip my last two classes, heading over to Holly's place.
"Aren't you supposed to be in class?" She asks from the top of the steps. I toss my cigarette to the ground, climbing the steps to meet her lips.
"I was just so excited to see you."
She giggles, running her hand through my hair. "So where are we off to tonight?" She asks, taking my hand.
"Smead's. Hoping it will be better than last week's snore."
"You mean, Nolan?"
"Yeah." I nod following her into her dorm.
She hums. "Sounds fun."
I sprawl out on the couch, throwing on the television.
"Want anything, babe?" Holly calls.
"Nah, I'm good. Thanks."

The door abruptly opens, presenting Holly's roommate Madeline. She gives me a salty glare before opening her mouth speak.
"Harold."
"Madeline." I retort.
She rolls her eyes, marching past me into the kitchen. I'm assuming she is still a bit angry after our impromptu drunk hook up. She wanted more but I just wasn't over Holly. Drunk revenge sex was all it was and I guess Maddie just can't get over it. I listen in on the girls' chat about the party before losing interest in their conversation. I text Cade some pointless shit before skipping through the channels on the television.

"Hey H." Holly sings.
"Yeah?"
"What's Cade's story?" She asks.
"Who wants to know?"
She smiles. "Maddie."
"He's seeing someone."
"But like, is it official?" She continues.
I shrug. "I don't know. He will be there tonight. You ask him."
"I will!" She zips before kissing me on the cheek.

I shake my head knowing Cade is not going to do a damn thing to jeopardize whatever the hell he has with Sam. I waste a bunch of time watching horrible movies as Holly gets ready for the party. I freshen up in a random mirror in hallway before Holly and Madeline come strutting out of their rooms.
"You always look so hot." I drool.
"You always sound cheesy as fuck." Maddie snarls.
"Oh you two, chill out." Holly defends. "And thank you babe."
I give her a smile before taking her hand.

We follow Maddie out to her car as Nolan's place a bit far to walk. Cars already line the street causing us to have to park a street down. Holly and Madeline get a ton of looks as I trail closely behind them, cigarette in hand. I wasn't a rough looking kid, but I had an edge that kept most idiotic mates at bay. I text Cade to see if he is here but get no response. We enter the house to a nice crowd of people already. I immediately head for a drink, deciding on liquor. Holly's tight dress is catching a lot of looks causing me to wrap my arm around her shoulder.

"Hey Styles."
"Thanks for texting me back."
"Sorry." He shrugs grabbing a beer.
"Where's Sam?" I side mouth.
"She's coming a little later with Blair. I hope."
"Don't worry mate. She'll show."
"Cade!" Holly sings. "How are you?"
Cade gives me a look before turning back to Holly. "Uh, good."
"That's good. Have you met my friend Maddie?" Holly continues, pulling Madeline into to view.
"Uh no, but hey how's it going?" Cade continues.
"Hi." I hear Madeline squeak.
"I think you two are going to hit it off well!" Holly claps.
"Holly." I step in. "Give it a rest babe."
"What?" Holly questions. "Just trying to be helpful."

Cade rolls his eyes, before taking a long swig from his beer.
