We Haven't Forgotten

Chapter 5

"Are you ready yet?" Huffs Anissa. I do another stroke of mascara, and then one more to get the little black chunks smooth.

"One second." I say loud enough so she can hear me. I have to stay at her house for a week or two, because my apartment has mold, so they have to tear down a couple of the walls where it's growing. Unfortunately, that also means I have to share a house with Michael, Luke, Ashton and Calum again. Sure, it was fun the first time, but things have just gotten so complicated since then, you know? I mean, I haven't even spoken to Ashton yet, and I don't plan on doing so.

I close my mascara bottle and tuck it in the zipper of my suitcase.

"Hurry up, bitch." Anissa groans.

"Shut up." I roll my eyes, smiling, and sit down to put on my shoes. They're converse, so I have to untie them, put them on, and tie them again. "You got my other stuff, right?" I ask, rolling my suitcase to the front door. She follows me, and nods.

"You have a lot of shit." She laughs.

"I know, right." I smile. I lock the door, while Anissa goes and starts up the car. Samuel comes out of his apartment, and stands next to me.

"Hi." He smiles sweetly.

"Hey." I say back, frustrated with the lock not locking.

"Are you moving or something?" He asks, referring to the empty apartment.

"Oh, no, well yes. I dunno. I'm just going to crash at A's house for a while because they have to get rid of the mold in the walls." I shrug.

"Doesn't that Cameron dude live there?" He asks.

"His name is Calum, and yes. But it's cool I guess." No it's not. I'm freaking out. How am I supposed to share a house with these people?! To much has happened.

"Okay." He says tightly. "You know you could always just crash at my house." He shrugs.

"That's okay." I mutter, as the door locks, "See ya." I smile, and get into Anissa's car, throwing the suitcase in the trunk.

"What did Sam want?" She asks.

"Just wanted to know why we were moving all of my stuff." I shrug. Samuel is actually how Anissa and I met. I just moved into the apartment next to his, and I was still pretty frazzled about what happened with Calum and Ashton, and he and Anissa were laughing and tripping out of his apartment while I was opening the door to mine.

"Hahaha, Sam, no!" The girl laughs. The boy she's with is like twice her size. Seriously, he's fucking tall. Maybe as tall as Luke. Aw. Man I miss Lukey. But thinking of him just reminds me of Ashton and Calum, so I shake him out of my mind. The girl catches my eye, and smiles at me, stopping her walking, as he does too, "Hey." She smiles widely at me. Her eyeliner is GOALS AS FUCK. Jeez. I realize she's talking to me:

"Oh, uh, hi." I smile shyly.

"I'm Anissa, you?" The boy keeps his eyes on me, which makes me feel awkward, since they look like they're dating. And he definitely isn't looking at me as a friend.

"My name is Janice." I say politely. She frowns and cocks her head to the side, like I said something wrong.

"You don't get out much do you?"

"What? Oh no, I'm just really.. Uh, tired." I lie.

"
Oh." She pauses, then smiles, "Well this is my boyfriend Sam."

"Samuel." He corrects, and shakes my hand. I smile at him.

"Yeah yeah whatever, anyway, what's your number? We could hang out sometime." Wow, first day of college and I already made a friend?

"Oh sure, here." I write my number on a little slip of paper and hand it to her.

He broke up with her a few weeks after that though. She doesn't seem to care though, they keep saying it was just casual. I just feel bad because now she has a crush on Michael, but he's gay.

The whole car ride to her house and she keeps trying to bring up Calum. In fact, I can hardly go over there without being interrogated about what went down between us. They keep trying to get us to talk about it, too, but we're fine doing this awkward silence we have going on.

We get there, and Anissa starts walking towards the door without bothering to help with my bags.

"Shouldn't we get my stuff first?" I ask. She looks back at me.

Shrug, "We'll do it later."

"Okay." I mutter to myself and walk in. Ashton is sitting on the couch with his phone. He glances at me, before looking at his phone, completely with no expression whatsoever. I roll my eyes.

Luke comes running out as fast as possible from his and Mikey's room, and wraps me up in a super tight hug.

"Janice!" He yells.

"Yeah?" I ask, loosing air.

"You're back!" He cheers, setting me down. He smiles at me one more time, before it turns a little evil.

"Um. W-What?" I ask.

"Mikey she's here!" He yells. Michael comes running out and picks me up, slinging me over his shoulder.

"What the fuck?" I ask. "A?" I ask her. She shrugs, and smiles.

"Calum!" She yells. Calum comes out in sweats, hanging below his waist with no shirt on, and curly, messed up hair. Damn. He looks at me, then her, confused.

"What?" He asks. Luke darts towards him, tackling him onto the ground. "What the FUCK Luke?!" He yells. Anissa opens the door to one of the empty rooms she doesn't know what to do with, and all of a sudden, we're being thrown in, and the door locks, just Calum and I left, standing there, in confusion.

"Did they just.. Lock us in a room together?" I ask, even though I know the answer.

"I think so." Calum says slowly. He sighs, and lies down on his stomach, on the floor. I frown and look at him, then back at the door, hitting it over and over. "What are you doing." He mumbles.

"We have to at least try and get out of here." I huff.

"They'll let us out eventually." He says simply. I roll my eyes.

"Yeah, but we'll have to spend the day in here together." I mutter.

"So? It's not like I'm Ashton."

"Don't bring that up." I frown, and kick the door.

"Don't break the door." He warns me, "She's renting this place." I roll my eyes and sigh. I plop down onto the ground next to him.

"This is torture." I grumble.

"Gee, thanks." Calum rolls his eyes.

"I didn't mean it like that."

"No, I know what you meant." We sit in silence for a few minutes.

"Okay, this is ridiculous." I sigh, try to open the window. It's locked too. It's no use. This is so stupid, Calum and I are fine how we are! I step over him, but my foot brushes gently against his back, and when I sit down, all I can remember is the feeling his soft skin gives me when it touches mine. I bite my lip.

This is going to be a long day.
