We Haven't Forgotten

“Michael, I don’t think this is the best time to ask her.” Michael and been arguing for the past couple of minutes.

“Okay, so she’s not in her best state. It’s even better for us to keep an eye on her and make sure she’s eating, sleeping, bathing and that’s she’s healthy. If we leave maybe…. She’ll try it again.” Michael whispers the last part. I close my eyes thinking about how I scooped up her frail body in my arms.

“Fine, you’re right. You’re going to ask her though.”

Janice walks in the living room wearing a pair of leggings and a big sweatshirt. She smiles, and for the first time in a long time, it’s a sincere smile.

“Hey, thanks for everything.” She sighs. I can see the wear in her eyes and I hug her frail body.

“Guys, can you tell Janice th- Oh! Never mind then. Uh, Janice, I made you some soup and I put some chicken in the oven.” Ashton states, running into the living room.

Sitting at the table, Michael open the backpack that he brought and pulls out several manila folders.

“A-Are you guys going to talk about something important? I can go eat somewhere else if you’d like.” She stutters.

“No, this involves you. Janice, you’ve studying for journalism and something related to PR right?
Luke asks. She nods her head slowly.

“I didn’t think you would know anything about that.” She smiles. I clear my throat and get everyone’s attention.

“Look, we’re going on tour in about two months due to the recent releasing of Sounds Good Feels Good. We are aware that the timing isn’t right b-“

“You’re leaving!” Janice interrupts me

“Can you pleases just listen to me?” I softly say.

“Oh! So just because you’re mister famous and all you think you deserve to be heard by me?” Janice starts raising her voice bit by bit.

“No, I never said that. I need you to listen to me. This involves you.”

“Well, of course it involves me. Do you think you can fucking move away again and just burst into my life whenever necessary?” she yells. She’s pushing my buttons.

“Listen to me goddammit!” I yell and Janice quickly sits down, eyes wide and Ash stares at me with wide eyes.

“Janice, we were hoping that you’d be able to go on tour with us and work with our PR.” Michael says laughing. I start laughing to and Janice just stares at all of and a wide smile breaks her face.

“Uh, yes! Oh god this is great!” she says laughing. We all look at each other and smile. “Wait, what about school?” she asks suddenly worried.

“We talked to the school. It’s all settled, we kind of just assumed that you would say yes.” Michael admits sheepishly.

“We’re going on tour.” Janice smiles
