But, girl, it's only you

All I know at the end of the day
Is you love who you love, there ain't no other way
If there's something I've learnt from a million mistakes
You're the one that I want at the end of the day
‘End Of The Day’ – One Direction

Bella's POV

The next morning, Bella woke up alone. No Harry this morning. She said to herself as she raised her head from the soft pillows. The sheets were wrapped around her body in a tight cacoon. The bed was so warm, too warm that she didn’t want to get out of it. Bella managed to unlock her arms out from the sheets to push her messy bed hair out of her eyes. She groaned as she put the weight of her body onto her forearms. Memories of the day before made a smile ghost over her lips. I’m not even awake for a minute and I’m already smiling.

Going out with Harry had been wonderful. She knew the neighbourhood and learnt how good the food and drink were at the café. Her conversation with the pop star had flowed as easily as a river. She still remembered the tingling feeling of his fingers weaving with hers. It was like the perfect jigsaw puzzle. Have I found the piece of my life that is missing? Bella sure hoped so.

Last night, Bella discovered Harry secretly loved chick flicks. For some reason, she didn’t find that surprising. She couldn’t see him watching horror films or explosive films. They had talked about Love Actually extensively in the café but he also liked The Notebook and Titanic. No wonder he’s such a romantic… Bella thought. So they had watched both films last night. At the beginning of The Notebook, Bella and Harry were seated next to each other, their arms barely touching. But by the end of the film, Bella was in Harry’s arms, her head on his chest. She had heard the beat of his heart, the steady thump of it. It was a miracle she hadn’t fallen asleep in his arms. She would have been happy to do that, she had been so content.

The one thing she did remember was the feeling of his lips on her forehead, giving her a goodnight kiss. Each time she felt his lips on her skin, the longing to feel them pressed against her own lips grew. It was ridiculous how badly she wanted to kiss him. It was like her life depended on just that one kiss. But Bella didn’t want to rush into anything. The only result that would come out of that would be bad.

As she looked at the empty walk-in wardrobe, she remembered that she and Harry had decided she’d be staying for a week. A week with Harry sounded great but she realised all of her clothes and shoes were still in her suitcase. The walk-in wardrobe looked odd without anything in it. She wanted to put her belongings in there but she had to ask Harry first. That’s what I’ll do now. Bella said to herself. She saw it was 9 o’clock so she knew there was a chance that Harry was awake.

She managed to get out of the nice warm bed and throw on her thin dressing gown, leaving it untied. Still dressed in her bed clothes, she padded across the carpeted floor of the bedroom and out of the door. Bella passed the staircase and went over to Harry’s room. His door was open and she could see that his bed was a little bigger than hers. And he wasn’t in it. Where is he? The answer to her question happened almost immediately. The young Englishman appeared, walking out of another door that obviously led to one of the bathrooms, because Bella could see the soft steam emanating from it.

“Look who’s up! Morning, love.” Harry smiled at her. Bella could barely find the energy to smile back. Her eyes were wide as they travelled over his body. His upper body was a sight to behold, beads of water on his shoulders and biceps. A white towel was wrapped around his waist. It horrified Bella that she was so close to see him completely naked. Why do I have to see him like this? Why do I end up being in uncomfortable situations with this guy? Bella didn’t know why. But she wanted encounters like this to stop. His damp hair had turned a shade darker from the water and the curls were already forming at the ends of his locks. So many girls dreamed of seeing Harry like this. No doubt did he look so fucking hot. Gosh, the things I want to do to him… Bella whispered in her head, her gaze on his lean muscular physique. He was just right. So perfect.

“You OK, Bella?”

She blinked and tore her eyes away from his body, now looking at his face. He moved his fingers through his hair, a few strands sticking to his forehead and neck.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I just…didn’t expect to see you like…I mean, I didn’t mean to interrupt.”

“You didn’t interrupt anything. I’d already finished showering.” Harry said, tightening the towel around his waist. He looked so gorgeous standing there, his skin still dotted with water droplets and his damp hair but his green eyes still shone the same way and the way his biceps flexed when he moved his arms made a cool shiver cover Bella’s body. He affected her in a way she never expected. Just seeing him in a towel actually turned her on. She remained silent which Harry found amusing.

“I assume you have a reason for wanting to find me.” A smirk played on his lips. Bella folded her arms, her fingers gripping her dressing gown, and she nodded, shaking the inappropriate thoughts out of her head.

“Yeah. Um, the walk-in wardrobe in my bedroom, it’s empty. I was wondering if I could put my clothes in it? Considering I’m staying for a week…”

“Of course you can, love. You didn’t have to ask me.”

“But it’s your house.”

“And for a week, it is yours. You can do whatever you want, Bella.” Harry said with a smile, once again running a hand through his hair. In whatever state, Harry’s hair always looked amazing, too amazing to be real. Bella wanted to touch it, run her own fingers through it, tug on it and pull him close. But I can’t do that. She and Harry had already built a relationship, one that close friends would have, minus him holding her in his arms the previous morning. If I can be friends with Harry, great. But Bella wanted more. She didn’t know if Harry wanted more. And he did. But she didn’t know that. Not yet.

“Cool. I’ll leave you to, uh, get changed.” Bella said and turned around to walk back to her room without another word. She went inside and shut the door quickly, leaning her head against it as she took a deep breath.

She closed her eyes and pictured him in just that towel. It wouldn’t have taken that much to rip it off him, to leave him naked before her. She wanted to dig her fingernails into his skin and cover his lips with hers. She wanted to run her hands over his muscles and trace the outline of his tattoos. She wanted to hear him moan and growl as she tugged at his soft hair. Bella opened her eyes and bit her lip, trying to stop the smile spreading across her face. She was already fantasising about Harry in a sexual way. She knew many more girls did too but they hadn’t seen Harry the way she had just seen him. Straight out of the shower and looking too perfect, a perfection that shouldn’t be allowed to exist.

“Stop, Bella. Just stop.” She muttered to herself. After getting Harry out of her head (which was harder than she wanted it to be), Bella unpacked her suitcase and hung her clothes up in the walk-in wardrobe. There was still a lot of spare space because she didn’t have as many clothes as Harry did. Before having a shower, she picked out her clothes for the day. She wanted to look nice since she was going to meet Harry’s family. A good impression is what I need to give. In the end, Bella chose a simple dark floral dress that ended a couple of inches above her knee and thin black tights. Even though it was Spring, there was still a little chill in the air.

The shower unknotted the muscles in her back and shoulders. The warm water made her relax, letting it cascade over her face, moving her hands through her wet hair. Her thoughts crept towards Harry being in the shower with her but she expelled them with force before they could turn her on. She shut the water off and stepped out of the glass cubicle, wrapping a towel around her naked body. Bella stared at her reflection in the mirror, her face flushed from the hot shower. And also from an image of Harry Styles naked.

“My mother is looking forward to meeting you. Gemma, as well.”

“Really?” Bella was surprised. Why? I’m nothing special.

“Yep.” Harry nodded, looking at her from across the kitchen counter. It was a replay of the previous morning. Both had just eaten breakfast, sitting opposite each other. Will every morning be like this? Bella asked in her mind. She didn’t know the answer but she knew what she wanted the answer to be. Her eyes were full of shock but Harry found it beautiful.

“But…they don’t even know me.” She said.

“I told them what they needed to know.”

“And what exactly did they need to know?” Bella cocked an eyebrow at him.

“I just told them you’re a fan and you were at the first Sydney concert with your sister. I told them about our…lucky meeting and I asked them if they would like to meet you. They said yes.”

“What? Just like that?”

“My mother gets very excited when I bring up the subject of a girl.” Harry rolled his eyes. He saw a look of terror flash across Bella’s face, her lips pressed together, quivering slightly.

“She’s not going to grill me, is she?”

Slowly, Harry shook his head. Bella watched as he hesitantly reached across the counter, placing his hand over Bella’s left one, which lay on the counter. A softness spread across her face as she moved her fingers underneath his palm. She looked at him, two bright hazel eyes staring into Harry’s soul. Then, he whispered four words softly.

“You’ll be fine, love.”

Bella was extremely nervous. She had only been out with Harry once and she was now being introduced to his family. All she hoped was that what he said was true.

When they left the house at noon, Bella couldn’t help but think that she and Harry looked good together. Matching colours complimented each other. Harry’s legs were hugged by those black skinny jeans (Damn those jeans! Bella thought). He had a black T-shirt on with a silk black baseball jacket with pale gold sleeves zipped up about halfway, a floral blue and green patterning on the front and back. She only had to look at the fabric to know it was a designer brand. She didn’t dare ask what one. Over her dress, Bella wore a black collared coat, its hem stopping mid-thigh. Lastly, both of them were wearing ankle boots, except Harry’s were grey and Bella’s were black.

Harry led her down to his large underground garage, the heels of his boots echoing around inside. Bella tucked her hands in her pockets as she followed Harry past his cars. And by cars, Bella didn’t see two. There were seven. Of course, being an international megastar had its perks. He could buy any car he wanted. Bella caught sight of a bright red Ferrari, a 1970 Capri and a Mercedes Benz. There were others but she didn’t know what their names were. She had never seen so many cars belonging to one person in one place before. It was completely ridiculous. Bella felt so inferior.

“Which car are we taking?” She asked with a nervous laugh.

“The Range Rover.” Harry answered just as they stopped in front of the car he named. It was a beautiful car, black and large. It could seat seven people comfortably. Bella drove her mother’s Hyundai back home so the car in front of her was a completely different model, way more huge than she was used to. Harry unlocked the car and opened the passenger door for her.

“In you go, love.”

Bella placed her right foot on the car floor and grasped the seat, pushing herself up. A shiver ran down her spine when she felt Harry’s hand ghost over her waist, helping her into the car. She got comfy in the seat and Harry closed the door as she clicked in her seatbelt, crossing her ankles over and fixing the hem of her coat. As she looked down at her lap, her hair fell over her shoulders. The top-half of it had been pinned back behind her head, revealing small garnets framed with gold dangling from her earlobes. Harry got in the driver’s seat beside her and revved up the engine then clicking in his seatbelt.

“All good to go?” He checked, looking at her. Bella didn’t answer with words. She simply nodded and smiled anxiously at Harry as he pushed his foot down the accelerator and then, they were off.

Harry's POV

Houses flew past as the Range Rover drove down the road, further and further away from the familiarity of Harry’s house. He looked at Bella every now and then, the shadows of trees dancing over her face as she stared out of the window. Gentle sunlight bathed her tight-covered legs and made the rings on her two middle fingers glitter. The dark colours of her clothes complimented her tanned skin, the soft waves of her brown hair falling over her shoulders. Harry noticed in the sun, the strands turned a light red. He found it gorgeous. In truth, he found everything about Bella to be gorgeous.

From his perspective, the day he had with Bella yesterday was wonderful. Unbeknown to her, Harry called it their first date. Because he wanted it to be a date. Even when the conversation steered towards Zayn, it didn’t feel as awkward as it was sometimes was. Harry loved how caring Bella was, the kind words she consoled him with after his friend’s departure from the band. The feeling of her hand in his had warmed his heart. Their fingers fit together perfectly, as if they were made for being weaved together. Bella’s skin was so smooth and Harry considered himself lucky. But holding her hand wasn’t enough. He wanted to touch her in other places. He wondered if he could warm his hands on her blushing cheeks. He wondered how soft her hair would be in between his fingers. Hopefully, a moment like that will happen soon. Harry thought with a smile that Bella did not see.

He turned the steering wheel to the right, the car moving around the corner to drive down another street. It was odd having the Range Rover so empty. Harry mainly used it when he was out with a bunch of his mates because of its ability to seat seven people. But it seemed like the logical car to drive to his hometown. His mother was very excited to meet Bella, her tone had been happy when Harry told her that he was bringing Bella with him. I did tell her to be gentle with Bella. The last thing he wanted was for their first meeting to be awkward. His mother had found the way Harry and Bella met to be very poignant and sweet, considering it was just an accident. His sister had found it, to quote her, “completely adorable”. Harry didn’t know what would happen when he and Bella walked through the front door. All he wished was that his family would be accommodating to her.

“Want to listen to some music?”

Bella turned to look at him and Harry found himself captivated by her colour of her eyes. A deep hazel that held so much emotion and told a story that went back almost twenty years. Her slender fingers were clasped together in her lap, the collar of her coat accentuating the curve of her heart-shaped face.

“Sure.” She smiled, sending sparks flying off of Harry’s heart. Just a smile from Bella lit up his day. She was like a gem, a star shining brightly as the ones in the night sky. He took one hand off the steering wheel and scrolled through the songs on his playlist on the built-in stereo. Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac started, echoing out of the speakers. Harry smiled when he saw Bella give him a quizzical look.

“My father is a big fan of Fleetwood Mac. I grew up listening to this sort of music.” He said, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel to the beat of the song. Then, out of nowhere, Harry decided to sing along.

“Can you hear me calling
Out your name?
You know that I'm falling
And I don't know what to say
I'll speak a little louder
I'll even shout
You know that I'm proud
And I can't get the words out
Oh I...
I want to be with you everywhere
Oh I...
I want to be with you everywhere.”

He could feel Bella’s eyes on him as he sung the lyrics. They were true to him now. Harry knew he was falling for Bella. But he didn’t know if he should tell her. He didn’t know exactly what to say. But what he knew was he wanted to be with her. Everywhere, if possible.

“Do you still see him often? Your dad?” Bella asked after the song finished.

“I used to. Gemma and I used to see him every fortnight or so but after being on The X Factor, my life blew up and I didn’t have as much free time as I did before. We do still see each other as much as we can.” Harry answered. Usually, when a conversation went in the direction of the subject of his father, Harry tended to move away from it. But with Bella, he could speak freely. Because she had gone through the same thing.

“What about you and your dad?”

“We normally catch up once every fortnight but sometimes, it might be a month in between visits because he’s got a girlfriend. Or I might be busy with a couple of my friends. But I still love him and I love seeing him.” Bella said, fixing the hem of her dress.

“That’s good. I find it’s important to still have a functioning relationship with both parents if it’s possible.” Harry said as they drove down the motorway.

“I couldn’t agree more, Harry.”

That smile again…
He said in his mind. If he wanted to, he could pull over after they got off the motorway and pull her in for a kiss. But Harry didn’t want to scare her off or make her feel uncomfortable. He wanted to take it slow so it would be more romantic. More real.

After about an hour, they pulled over at a diner and had a small snack as Harry’s mother was going to cook a delicious meal for them. A family lunch. And Bella would be a part of it. Only one fan spotted Harry in the diner and asked for a picture. The girl was about 14 years old and was incredibly sweet. Bella took the photo and Harry hugged the young fan, who was ecstatic as she returned to her parents with the biggest grin on her face.

“I love how kind you are to your fans.” Bella smiled.

“Without them, One Direction would be nothing. They love us and we love them in return.” Harry said. It was true. Without their adoring fans, the band wouldn’t be where they were now. They wouldn’t be selling records, making albums and touring the globe. And Harry was eternally grateful for their support.

It was 3:15pm when Harry’s black Range Rover pulled up in front of the house he grew up in. He turned off the engine and rested his right arm on the steering wheel.

“You ready, love?”

Bella's POV

She turned to face him, swallowing deeply, trying to calm the speed of her racing heart. She was so nervous. I’m too nervous. Harry must have seen the frightened expression on her face because he reached over and wrapped the fingers of his left hand around her hand. The touch of his rings was cool but his skin was warm. Bella looked deep into his eyes and didn’t want to be anywhere else.

“Don’t be nervous, Bella. They’ll love you.” Harry said sweetly, giving her his dimpled smile, the smile she loved so much and wanted to see every morning when she woke up. If she opened her eyes each and every day to see Harry’s smile, she would be a happy woman. She bit her lower lip and nodded her head as she felt his fingers squeeze hers in reassurance.

Harry got out of the car as Bella opened her door, stepping out onto the footpath. She didn’t have her bag with her this time, only her phone which was in the pocket of her black coat. The sun was warm but there was a slight cool breeze that was very refreshing.

Bella looked at the house and thought it was cosy. It was two storeys high but didn’t have the luxury or vastness of Harry’s house back in London. There was a cute garden outside with a short-trimmed hedge outlining it with a bunch of blooming flowers as well as some other plants. It looked like it was a nice home to spend your childhood in and no doubt Bella knew Harry must have some wonderful memories from growing up in the house. Harry came and stood beside her, placing his hand on her back.

“Showtime.” He whispered and they walked up to the front door. Bella’s knees were a little wobbly from anxiety but she managed to stay on her face, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Harry rang the doorbell and from inside, a voice could be heard.

“Harry’s here!”

A second later, the door opened and a young woman with blonde hair, and a hint of pastel blue, appeared. She needed no introduction. Bella knew who she was. Harry’s older sister, Gemma Styles.

“Hey, little bro! I’ve missed you!” She cried, grabbing Harry by the shoulders and embracing him tightly. Bella then realised this was the first time Harry had seen his family since before the On The Road Again tour. She felt like she was intruding on a very personal brother and sister moment. She waited patiently as Harry and Gemma hugged.

“I’ve missed you too, Gem. This is Bella Frost.” He said, letting go of his sister and gesturing to Bella with his hand. Gemma looked at Bella and smiled. She was about the same height as Bella and her eyes were a little darker than Harry’s and were a tad bigger. But Bella could definitely see the resemblance between her and Harry. They had the same smile.

“So this is the girl you’ve been ranting on about over the phone? Hi, I’m Gemma. It’s great to meet you!”

Bella smiled back at her and expected a handshake but instead, was pulled into a hug. She was no short of shocked. Her eyes went wide and she looked at Harry, who was smirking, the dimples in his cheeks deepening. He’s ranted on about me? Is that a good thing? Maybe it is…He likes to talk about me… That thought made Bella feel happy. She placed her hand on Gemma’s back and embraced her back.

“Uh, it’s great to meet you too. I’ve heard a lot about you.”

“I feel like I already know you. Harry’s told me everything about you.” Gemma said.

“Has he now?” Bella cocked an eyebrow at Harry, whose cheeks turned a little pink. Oh My God, he’s blushing! How adorable! She wondered what exactly went into the meaning of “everything” he told his sister. She was sure to find out today.

“Come on in. Mum and Robin are waiting.” Gemma said, ushering both Harry and Bella inside. Being the gentleman again, Harry let Bella walk in first. As she passed Gemma, she heard her whisper to Harry, “She’s cute”. Good first start. Bella told herself.

The interior of the house was welcoming. A staircase led up to the second level and to the left was the dining room table and the kitchen and on the right was the living room. Gemma led Bella to the dining table and sitting at the head of it was Robin Twist, Harry’s stepdad. He had a greying beard and moustache and a pair of glasses were perched on his nose, peering over the open newspaper. He looked up when Gemma, Harry and Bella came in.

“Hello, Harry. It’s been a while.”

“Yes, it has.”

Robin stood up and walked around the edge of the table.

“And you must be the lovely Bella.” He held out his hand.

“Hello, Mr. Twist.” Bella said confidently, shaking his hand firmly.

“Please call me Robin. No need to be so formal.”

That made Bella feel better. She knotted her fingers together and shuffled her feet. Her heart froze when she felt Harry’s hand on the small of her back. She didn’t look at him, knowing he’d have a facial expression that would make her blush like an idiot. Then, there was the sound of a female’s squeal.

“Harry!”

“Hi, Mum.” Harry smiled as his mother appeared from out of the kitchen.

Anne was a woman in her late-forties with beautiful black hair and blue eyes. Her smile was exactly like Harry’s, shining white. She was dressed in a flattering white top with bat sleeves and black pants with black flats. Bella didn’t meet Jacob’s parents until after five months of dating. So this felt so early to Bella. But so far, Harry’s stepdad and sister had been nothing but friendly to her.

Anne approached her son first and hugged him, pressing a kiss to his cheek, one hand in his curly hair.

“How’s my baby boy?”

“I’m good, Mum.” He smiled, swaying his mother side-to-side. Anne pulled back and patted his cheek, looking at him with a tender smile. Her eyes fell upon Bella, who stood there nervously. Harry placed his hand on her arm and looked at his mother.

“Mum, this is Bella Frost.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, dear. I’ve heard so much about from Harry.” Anne stated and for the second time that day, Bella received a hug from a member of Harry’s family. Just like she did with Gemma, she placed her hand on Anne’s back and hugged her back.

“Harry’s told me a lot about you too…Anne.” No Mrs. Twist… Remember what Robin said, Bella. No need to be so formal. Bella told herself. Harry’s mother let her go but kept her left hand on Bella’s shoulder.

“You’re even more beautiful than Harry described.”

Bella blushed and from the corner of her eye, she could see the young Englishman blush faintly again. How much has he talked about me to his family? Have I made that big of an impression on him? To hear a guy call her beautiful was amazing but to have the mother of the guy she fancied say it, it lifted her heart into a sky filled with fluffy clouds and cool air. It made Bella breathe easier.

“Thank you.” It was the only way she could think of responding to a compliment like the one Anne gave her. Harry’s mother looked at her family and told them lunch was almost ready. She asked Bella if she wanted to come and help her get the dining room table set with cutlery and food. Bella couldn’t disagree. So, while Harry went off to catch up with Gemma, Bella went with Anne and Robin returned to his seat at the dining table.

“How are you finding London, Bella?” Anne asked her. Bella discovered that for lunch, there were chicken wraps with mango chutney. There were sides of plain green salad with tomato and onion and small salmon rolls. Her mouth began to salivate at the sight and smell of the food. Everything looked so good.

“It’s great so far. I’ve only seen Harry’s neighbourhood and now, Holmes Chapel. I haven’t been into the main city yet but I really want to.”

“Harry told me you’ve never been out of Australia before.”

“That’s right. This is my first time away from my home country. It was a little scary at first but I feel safe when I’m with Harry.” Safe when I’m with Harry? Why the hell did I say that in front of his mother? It was suddenly extremely uncomfortable and Bella rubbed the back of her neck with her hand, her gaze darting to Harry’s mother, who looked nothing but pleased.

“Harry’s always had a charm that makes people feel safe around him. It’s no surprise to me that he has that effect on you.” Anne said, handing Bella the bowl of green salad. She took it and placed it on the dining table; it was already covered with a white tablecloth, a muted gold floral pattern on it. Next, she put the knives and forks on the table as well as clean plates and some spoons.

“So you met Harry unexpectedly in an alleyway? That’s extremely lucky.” Anne said when Bella returned to the kitchen.

“I thought I was dreaming. But Harry was nothing but kind to me.” Bella smiled as Harry’s mother placed the wraps on a large serving dish.

“How long have you been a fan of One Direction?”

“Less than a year. My sister’s the one who’s the big fan.”

“She’s the one the boys sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to?”

“Yes, that’s her.” Bella nodded.

“She must have been so happy.”

“Yeah, she looked like someone gave her a million dollars. She’s so jealous I’m spending time with Harry.” Bella blushed.

“Well, make the most of it, Bella. From what I’ve heard from my son, he seems quite taken with you.” Anne said with a smile, her blue eyes sparkling. She handed the plate of chicken wraps to Bella and told her to tell the others that lunch was ready. After finishing setting the table, Bella walked across the entrance hall to the living room, and found Harry and Gemma sitting on the couch.

“Lunch is ready.”

“Awesome!” Gemma said, standing up and Harry followed suit. They all walked back to the dining room table to find that Robin hadn’t moved from his spot at the head of the table and Gemma quickly sat down opposite him while Anne sat in between the two of them. That left Harry and Bella to sit next to each other opposite Anne. And when they sat down, Bella could’ve sworn she felt Harry’s hand brush her thigh.

“Bon appétit, everyone.” Anne declared and each person took a chicken wrap with mango chutney as well as some salmon rolls and salad, drizzled with a vinegar dressing. Glasses of water and juice were available; Bella chose water. She was just about to dig into her wrap when Gemma spoke up.

“So, Bella, tell us about you.”

Harry's POV

Lunch had gone swimmingly, much to Harry’s relief. Bella had kept calm as she answered all of his family’s questions. Under the table, he had held her hand when Robin asked about her family life. The subject of her parents’ divorce was obviously still a tender one to touch on but she was strong. And Harry admired that about her.

He now stood in the kitchen, helping his mother wash up and Robin sat in front of the kitchen counter, constantly adjusting his glasses on his nose.

“So what do you think of Bella?” Harry asked, drying a plate and placing it in the cabinet above him.

“She’s a beautiful young woman. Very shy but sweet.” Anne said.

“Very kind.” Robin added.

“What do you think of her, Harry? I saw the way you were looking at her when she talked.” Anne smiled at her son. Harry dried another plate and repeated the pattern of placing in the cabinet on top of the other plates.

“I like her.”

“You don’t just like her, Harry. You never stopped talking about her over the phone. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’re falling for her.” Anne whispered, her eyes glittering. Harry sighed and put the last plate in the cabinet. He wiped his fingers with the tea towel and chucked it down on the counter. He turned around and leaned on the counter, his fingers gripping the edge of it. Harry was falling for Bella. He felt something special for her and didn’t want to lose her. He didn’t know if it was her down-to-earth Australian personality or the way her cheeks turned pink when he looked at her but he knew there was something about her that was unique. Because she wasn’t a huge pop star like him or a worldwide famous actress, Bella showed him how simple life could be. The aspects of life that were important and so precious. She showed him what a life with her could be like. A perfect one.

“I don’t know what it is about her…I just want to spend more time with her. She’s opened my heart to life. I’m so glad I met her.”

Harry felt a hand press against his cheek. He looked to his right and found it was his mother’s hand on his cheek. She leaned in and kissed his temple. Harry loved his mother. She had been with him every step of the way, ever since he first stepped onto The X Factor stage when he was 16. She was his number one fan and supported him in whatever he did. Being her baby boy and only son, the subject of girlfriends was important, even more so ever since he shot to stardom. Harry admitted to himself that some of his relationships hadn’t been the best and some of the choices he made were wrong. But he was determined that Bella wasn’t just a girl he’d slap away like a fly. He wanted something more with her. Something deep. The connection was there. Harry could feel it.

“My son is growing up.” Anne smiled. Harry smiled back. He knew the first step to becoming a man was to love a fragile woman. But is love what I feel for Bella? Or is it just infatuation? Robin nodded in agreement with his wife. Harry then excused himself, since he was done helping his mother do the dishes, to go and check on Bella, who had went with Gemma to the living room after lunch had finished.

He walked into the living room to discover the brunette sitting by herself on the couch. She had a magazine clutched in her hands, her face frozen like a statue. Her floral dress pooled around her, her slim tight-covered legs straight with her booted feet planted on the floor. Her arms were bare, exposing her tanned skin that Harry wanted to caress so badly.

“Where’s Gemma?”

Bella looked up from the magazine and her eyes lit up like gems when she saw Harry.

“She’s in the toilet.” She answered before returning her attention back to the magazine. Harry knew she had it open at some sort of article but didn’t know what it was. But from the look on Bella’s face, it was something shocking.

“What’s wrong?” He asked. When Bella didn’t answer, Harry took it upon himself to sit down next to her and take the magazine from her. He saw Bella hug her arms with her hands as she lowered her head, her hair falling over her face. Harry gripped the magazine and looked at the article printed in it.

Who Is Harry Styles’ Mystery Date?

If you don’t know who Harry Styles is, you must have been living under a very large rock for the past five years. At only 21 years old, a member of English-Irish boy band One Direction, he’s the figure of desire for millions of girls around the world. So this is sure to make many of them jealous.

Yesterday afternoon, a couple of pictures arose of Styles hanging out and about near his house in London, which he purchased for nearly $3 million in 2013. But he wasn’t alone. A beautiful young lady was by his side and they were holding hands. What can this mean? Is she a former flame? Has the One Direction member found another fling?

The pictures suggest the couple didn’t even know they were being photographed. It’s been reported the pair were spotted leaving a local café together after enjoying a bite to eat. So what’s this girl to Harry? Only time will tell.

Harry’s eyebrows creased over his eyes as he read the last line. The one thing Harry found truthful in the magazine was that he and Bella didn’t know they had been photographed. He couldn’t recall any paparazzi around but then again, they could be good at disguising themselves. Harry looked at Bella, who was looking at her lap. He dropped the magazine in his lap and reached out with his left hand, moving her hair off her shoulder.

“Bella…?”

Harry knew she wasn’t happy about her picture being in a magazine, read by hundreds, if not thousands, of people. But...Bella looked beautiful in the photos, but she was more beautiful in the flesh to Harry. She still didn’t look at him but he felt her flinch at his touch of his fingers on her shoulder.

“Bella…”

“What, Harry?”

He was taken aback by her snappy response.

“What’s wrong?” He asked again. Finally, Bella looked at him. Her hazel eyes were shining. But not with happiness. They were welling up with tears.

“Do you really need to ask that question? I think you know the answer.” She choked out, her voice a little teary. His left hand was still on her shoulder so he picked up the magazine in his right, his eyebrows raised.

“This, Bella…This is not a bad thing.” He said.

“How is it not bad? If these pictures are in this magazine, they’re probably all over the Internet. You do realise I’m going to be getting hate and death threats from your fans? My parents are going to see this. My sister is going to see this. My friends are. Everyone is going to see this.”

Bella stopped to take a breath before continuing.

“I can’t handle this sort of publicity, Harry. My entire life will be picked at by these magazines and your fans. I’m never going to be left alone. This isn’t what I want…” She whispered as a tear rolled her right cheek. Harry pressed his lips together and wiped the tear away with his thumb. It pained him to see her cry. He didn’t want her to cry. He shuffled closer to her and ran his forefinger along her cheekbone.

“I don’t want this either, love. But you must have known that going out in public with me would have these sorts of consequences.”

“Of course I did. I just didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.” Bella said, blinking in an effort to get rid of her tears. The other girls Harry dated didn’t have this problem because they were famous themselves. They were photographed and were known to millions of people. But Bella was a simple girl from Newtown, all the way down in Australia. No-one knew anything about her. Like the title of the article stated, Bella was a “mystery” to the public. But Harry consoled her. Not because he needed to but because he wanted to.

“Bella, love, you have nothing to worry about. What we are is none of the media’s business. What I’ve learnt over the five years of being in the music industry is to just ignore stuff like this. Just focus on us, alright?” Harry said, raising an eyebrow at her, his tone gentle and soft in a comforting manner. He stared at her as she blinked once, a look of revelation sweeping across her face.

“What are we, Harry?”

Surprisingly, the question didn’t shock Harry. He smirked at her and placed his left palm against her cheek, which was warm from the heated blood beneath her skin. There were exactly five seconds of complete silence as the two of them stared at each other. Harry would be happy to freeze this moment in time and live in it forever. He realised Bella was waiting for an answer. So he gave her a truthful one.

“Whatever you want us to be, beautiful.”

Harry hadn’t called her “beautiful” yet. This was the first time. It was an apt description of Bella. She was beautiful, both inside and out. Underneath his palm, he could feel the flush of her cheek, matching the other one, a deep pink that complimented her skin tone and eyes. Harry lowered his hand from her cheek and took her hand in his own. In the heat of the moment, he pressed a kiss to her palm, closing his eyes briefly. When he broke his lips away from her skin, he looked at Bella to find her blushing even more but he caught sight of a smile pulling at the corners of her lips. Harry knew what he wanted to do when they got back to his home. He couldn’t wait a day longer. It was time.

It was 6 o’clock when Harry and Bella bid farewell to Harry’s family. Bella received a hug from all three of them and got Gemma’s phone number. Harry hugged his sister, mother and stepdad before walking out of the front door, waving goodbye.

They hopped into his Range Rover and set off home. The first minute of the drive was silent and it was Harry who spoke first.

“I think that went really well. My family loves you, Bella.”

He looked at her, the light of the setting sun bathing her face in a golden glow. Her hazel eyes shone a fresh emerald green and her hair turned a deep shade of red. She bit her bottom lip, making Harry think about the taste of her lips, how soft and sweet they would be covered by his own.

“Yeah, I think it went well too.” Bella nodded.

“My sister already wants to hang out with you. She told me herself.”

“I like her. She was very friendly towards me. She’s a lot like you.”

“In what way?” Harry was curious now.

“Well, you’ve both got a really kind personality. You’re both fun. Both of you are just too nice for your own good.” Bella smiled.

“I’ll take that as a compliment. Thank you, love.” Harry smiled in return before returning his eyes to the road. Soon, they were back on the motorway, leaving Cheshire behind and London was ahead.

It was nearing 9:30pm when Harry parked the Range Rover in his garage. He opened his door to get out but Bella didn’t. He hopped out and turned back to see her eyes glued to her phone screen. He didn’t say anything and waited. She looked at him and pocketed her phone.

“Just texted my mum.”

“That’s fine, love.” Harry smiled and closed his car door. He heard the other car door close and Bella appeared around the bonnet, her hands in the pockets of her coat. The sound of both of their heeled boots echoed around the garage. It was cool down there but when they entered the entrance hall of the house, warmth surrounded them like a comforting bubble. Harry flicked on the lights, the golden light minimal but just enough to see the interior.

He turned to see Bella pulling off her coat and placing it on one of the hooks by the front door. In the dim light, she shone like a dark diamond. The silver of her rings and the gold of her earrings made her stand out, her tanned skin looking even more stunning in the muted light. Harry couldn’t wait any longer. Before he knew what he was doing, he cupped Bella’s face in his hands and pushed her up against the wall. He didn’t waste another second and finally pressed his lips to hers.

Notes

I know it’s taken a long time for them to kiss but I wanted to make their love story realistic. I promise there’ll be more kissing to come! ;)
