Reminiscing Memories

Prologue: First Impression

*Hazel’s POV*

I sighed as my friend, Pandora, drug me along the sidelines of hundreds of screaming fans that crowded the streets. It was dark outside, and the streetlights filled the streets, lighting away our path. What was happening? Pandora was a huge fan of this boy group. One Direction she’s called them. Five boys make up the band who she claims to be the ‘hottest European boys you could ever lay your eyes on.’

Personally, I’ve never seen the boys, not even in magazines. I’ve never been a huge fan of the whole celebrity Hollywood news. She begged me to come with her to this concert, seeing how I was her best friend and I should just see them out of curiosity. “They really will change your life.” I remember her saying. “They’ll change your life just how they changed mine.”

I remembered that change. I remember how she use to absolutely despise singing, since her mother made her do shows and other odd things when she was younger. One day she watched the British X Factor, seeing these boys together. It only made her dreams become broader. She’d often came to my house and play. She really was good with the guitar and her voice held a melody unlike anyone I’ve ever listened to before.

I made sure to stand by Pandora’s side as she handed some woman tickets. “Floor tickets?” The lady asked, looking at the tickets.

They were floor tickets to the second row, something Pandora’s mom had to work hard to get for her. I guess it was good she had plenty of connections to getting them. We received white bracelets and we put them on before walking into the arena. Already the stadium was filling up. “Come on, I know where we’re sitting.” Pandora said, taking my hand while walking so we wouldn’t lose each other.

She led me down many steps before we found our row and our seats. Chatter can be heard all around us, fans screaming in excitement and even some girls singing. I didn’t see many boys here. Only a few, and they looked like they rather be anywhere else. “I seriously don’t know about this.” I said to Pandora. “How can five boys have such an effect on a bunch of girls?”

Pandora’s eyes seem to gleam to life as she smiled at me. “Haze, you’ll see. Each one of those boys will do something to impress you and make an imprint on your mind. Knowing you, you’ll want to draw out just what it was they did that won your heart over.”

I rolled my eyes. I couldn’t wait.

The screen on the stage lit up to life, showing a countdown from 60 seconds. Screams started to let out. I could even hear Pandora’s screams as she got out her camera. I watched as the screen played, showing the five boys Pandora was oh so in love with. Nothing came to my mind. Sure, they were good looking, but it didn’t leave that imprint in my mind like I was expecting.

10 seconds.

However possible, the screams seemed to get louder.

An overhead countdown finally came on. Counting down from 5.

Music started playing then and screams filled the arena. I regretted not bringing earplugs. The five boys came running out from backstage, waving at their fans as they came onstage. Pandora nudged my arm. “Anything?” She shouted.

I shook my head. “Just wait.” She said. “Something will spark!”

“Good evening, everyone!” The blond boy spoke up. His voice held an accent that was slightly not British. I looked at Pandora.

“He’s Irish!” She said into my ear. I nodded, understanding.

“I’m Liam.”

“Louis!”

“Niall!”

“Harry here.”

“I’m Zayn!”

“And we’re One Direction!” They said, fans screaming in response.

Music began to play and fans around me started jumping to the beat. “Are we ready!?” I heard Liam yell.

I felt that buzzing sensation. His smile lit up the room as he held up his hands to his ears. I felt the image imprint on my mind. He was the first to catch my heart and all it took was his smile. “It feels like we’ve been living in fast forward, another moment passing by…”

I didn’t know what it was after that, but everything seemed to fall in like a chain reaction. Liam’s voice was perfect, and I knew it was his voice that also caught my heart, but his smile beat it to it. The rest of the boys, Harry, Louis, Niall, and Zayn, they got my attention through their singing. Throughout the whole concert, many, many imprints of images flashed before my eyes and their voices were in my head.

I was slowly falling for the band. I was slowly becoming a directioner.

“Panda…” I said as we were walking home from the concert. I had a curfew to keep up with for my mother. “I… I need to draw.”

Pandora smiled. “I told you. So tell me, who’s your favorite?”

I wasn’t sure myself. They each had their own attribute. Niall with his bubbly personality, Harry with his curly hair, Zayn with his shy and mysterious attitude, Louis with his spontaneous actions, and Liam with his mature and fun front. “I can’t say. I like them all equally.”

“I knew you would say that.” Pandora said, laughing some. “Do you want a copy of their songs? I got their Up All Night CD.”

“I think… I’ll buy my own copy.” I said, smiling.

Pandora shook her head. “I can’t wait until their next concert. We’re definitely going to meet them.”

I nodded in agreement. “I can’t wait.”

Only another year I would have to wait, for now I had to catch myself up to knowing them at home. I know I wasn’t really the type to get into Hollywood news, but I wanted to know about their personality and see how they act in their everyday life. They were normal human beings too and I was just curious about how they lived their lives at home.

Looks like I was a directioner now.
