What A Feeling

As they enter the locker room before the game, Niall stands back, letting Becca do her job. As always, he’s amazed to watch her in action. Making athletes feel comfortable, and answering questions they normally wouldn’t be asked. The respect the players have for her knowledge of the sport is obvious.

Moments before tip off, Niall and Becca take their courtside seats. Niall whispers in her ear. “You know I only love you for the great seats you can get us, right?”
“I do.” She says before leaning in to kiss him. “And I’m fine with that.”
He laughs, taking her hand in his.
Anyone watching them during the game can see they are meant for each other. Both jumping up, screaming for every Warriors basket.
Halfway through the second quarter, a gentleman with the television crew approaches Becca.
“I need a really big favor, Becca. Our sideline reporter just got sick. Would you please
fill in for her?”
Becca’s jaw drops. “What? Me?”
“You can do it, B.” Niall encourages.
“Niall! That’s televised. I’ve never done tv reporting before.”
Niall smirks. “Well, you’d also never been auctioned off before, but you survived that.”
Becca looks awkwardly at the gentleman.
“Niall!”
He laughs.
“Becca, I wouldn’t ask, but we are desperate. You’re the only person here knowledgable enough to do it.”
Niall pats the guy on the shoulder. “She’ll do it.”
“Great, I’ll go get everything ready for you.”
Turning to Niall, Becca is not happy. “Niall, how could you? I don’t think I can do this.”
Taking her hand, Niall tells her. “Darling, you aren’t angry with me, you’re just nervous.”
“Niall, I am too shy for this.”
He smirks. “You’re not shy when you’re with me.”
Becca pushes him, practically out of his chair. “I hate you, Horan.”
He stands, looking down into her eyes. “B, I believe in you. I know, without a doubt, that you can do this.”
She smiles. “You’re lucky I love you so much, Irish, otherwise I’d kick you in the balls.”
Niall grins. “Don’t do that, you might need them later.”
Becca rolls her eyes as she heads off on this new adventure.

They cut to Becca for the first time, just before halftime. Niall can see how nervous she is, but he doubts it’s visible to the rest of the world.
She talks briefly, explaining that she’s filling in, then gives an update on an injured player.
Niall sends her a text. He watches as she pulls her phone from her pocket. “Great job. You’ve got this, Babe. I love you.”
Becca grins, looking over his way.
Niall’s phone dings. The text from Becca reads: I-(heart emoji)-U-(irish flag emoji).
Niall grins. Damn, I love this girl.

During halftime, Becca does an amazing job updating everyone on the play so far; quoting stats that blow everyone away.
Niall leans into the gentleman sitting next to him. “That’s my girl. Yep, I’m a lucky man.”
Next, he sends the video he took of Becca to her boss at sky sports.
He responds to Niall’s email with one word. “Impressive!”

After the Warriors capture yet another win, Niall makes his way to watch Becca do the post game interviews.
When she’s finished, he tries to make his way over to her, Unfortunately she’s whisked away by a man in a suit.
After about ten minutes, she finally approaches Niall. He wraps his arms around her, picking her up and swinging her around. “I’m so proud of you, B!”
“Thank you, Niall, for pushing me to do it.”
“You’re welcome. I knew you’d be amazing.”
“It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I just pretended that it was you filming me.”
Niall smirks. “Babe, if I was filming you, there would be a lot less people, and a lot less clothes.”
She rolls her eyes, pushing on his chest.
“Can we go back to the hotel now? I believe you need to thank me properly.” Niall winks.
Becca grins. “That I do, Irish. Let’s go.”
“Who was that guy in the suit?” Niall asks.
“He’s with the network. He offered me a job here.”
Niall stops dead in his tracks.

Notes
