What A Feeling

Becca didn’t sleep well last night, wondering if she did the right thing; insisting Niall and her just be friends right now.
She’s at the office today and having trouble focusing. Not one text from Niall yet today. I had no idea how much I looked forward to his texts.
Finally forcing herself to become immersed in research for an upcoming article;
her phone dings, she has never moved so quickly to grab it.
A text from Niall, inviting her to join him and some of his friends for drinks tonight.
She replies, saying she’d love to.
He says he’ll send a car for her.
For some reason, the rest of her day flies by.

“Thanks for helping me pick an outfit for tonight, Kara.”
“You’re welcome. So, you sure about this whole “friends only” thing?”
“Yeah. Well, um, yeah.”
Kara laughs. “So eloquently put for an educated journalist.”
Becca grabs a sweater, throwing it across the bedroom at her.
“I gave it a lot of thought, it’s better to focus on being friends.”
“Have you ever considered that you are overthinking all of this? Forget life plans, just have fun.”
“Anyone ever tell you that you’re a pain in the ass, Kara?”
“Hello, that’s my job, Girl.”
“I wonder who I have to talk to about getting you kicked out of England.”
“Ha Ha, that won’t stop you from having the hots for Niall.”
“Kara!”
“Please, don’t tell me you haven’t imagined him naked.”
Becca fans herself with a magazine.
Kara grins. “I knew it. Do you think he has a big…” The magazine hits Kara right in the face.
They both laugh.
“Get out so I can take a cold shower.” Becca insists.

The car Niall sent drops her off at the pub. She’s wearing dark jeans, a fitted tee, and heeled boots; praying that she is a perfect mixture of casual but dressy, she heads inside.
A large smile forms as she spots Niall at the bar.
Then the now familiar knot returns in her stomach as she sees a pretty girl sitting beside him, leaning on him.
