Icing on the Cake

SEVEN MONTHS LATER

“Our wedding is so close!” I said to Calum one morning. “It’s literally one month from today!”

“I can’t wait!” Calum said as he grabbed my hand and brought it up for a kiss.

“Good morning.” Julia said to us as she came down the stairs. “What did you make for breakfast?” She then asked.

“We have eggs if you want some.”

“No!” Julia exclaimed as she rubbed her belly that was getting starting to get huge. “This baby make me so hungry for weird stuff!”

Julia then went to the freezer and pulled out frozen corndogs. She then put three of them on a plate and put them into the microwave.”

“We have an appointment with the OBGYN this afternoon.” I reminded Julia. “Should we all go? We can get a sitter for the twins.”

“Sure.” Julia said as she pulled the corndogs out of the microwave. She then walked over to the pantry, opened the lid off of a large container of mayo, and started dipping the corndogs in mayo before taking bites out of it.

Calum turned to me and mouthed, “It’s nine o’clock in the morning.”

I cracked a smile and tried not to snicker. Julia’s cravings had been hysterically crazy.

“CORNDOGS!” We heard Anastasia yell as she came running down the stairs. Adam was only steps behind her, and in seconds they were jumping onto the kitchen table chairs. It’s hard to believe that they were already over four and a half years old.

“Can we have corndogs?” Adam then asked us.

Lately, Anastasia had become the less talkative one while Adam became more and more talkative.

Naturally, we wanted to say no to corndogs for breakfast, but it was hard to when their mother as eating them right in front of them.

“Why not?” Calum sighed to me with a smile. “Let them eat crazy with their mom while she’s still pregnant.”

Well, if we aren’t the best parents ever, then I don’t know who is.
