♔Irreversible♕

sixteen

The rest of the day was spent relaxing in bed. We ordered room service for dinner and watched movies. This is what I wanted us to be. Happy.

We had both fallen asleep. The sudden sound of thunder cracking made me jump awake. It was the end of October and still raining. This year had been unusually warm. It was great except for the rain but I didn’t mind it. Lighting lit up the sky as I stepped out of bed.

I hurried over to the terrace doors and yanked them open. I actually liked the rain. The rain was soothing. I stuck my hand outside and let the rain hit my hand. It was cold and refreshing.

Sliding down the doorframe, I stuck my bare legs outside. Tiny droplets of water attacked my legs and it felt wonderful. The rain always made me think. Cliche right?

What I couldn’t get out of my head was how the city didn’t stop, even if it was pouring. That’s why I loved it here so much, because of the craziness.

All my life, nothing has ever excited me. Most girls would kill to go to all the parties and wear the dresses. Don’t get me wrong, the dresses were fun but the parties were torture. As I got older, I appreciated these parties more.

Yes, I hated them but the work that went into them was impeccable. Everything at these parties, not matter how small the detail, was perfect. Maybe that’s why I hated them so much.

Nothing was ever out of place. Nothing in my entire life was out of place. My family was boring. The lifestyle that these people lived was boring. Waking up everyday with a list of things you had to do really wears a person out. I just remember when I was little, right before my brother left, we had this event to go to. We had to wake up really early and drive 6 hours. Us kids hated every second of it but my parents didn’t seem to care that is was 4am and they hadn’t eaten breakfast.

I think that was the reason why I loved it here so much. Things happened. You couldn't control them. You couldn’t try and change it. Even at 5:48 am, you could still hear cars honking, sirens wailing and people yelling.

I wonder what my family is doing now. I was in the same city as Maddalena and Matt and they had no clue. Do you think they would like the new me? I think they would. They would always tease me as a child because my mother would give me these ridiculous tasks and without even blinking, I was run off and do them. Robot training at a young age I guess.

I wonder if they would like Harry as much as I do. What if they had someone they cared for now? Maybe they had gotten married and started a family. Maybe they had a children that they loved. What if they had found new parents who accepted them? I hoped they are happy now.

Maybe I should call them and try and reconnect?

I stared out into the rain. My legs had gone numb from the harsh cold water but I didn’t mind. I rested my head on the wall and sighed.

So many thoughts raced through my head. The sun had started to rise and the birds were chirping. The rain didn’t budge one bit.

“You’re going to get sick if you play out in the rain.”

I looked over my shoulder and shrugged.

“I’ll risk it.” I replied, smirking.

“You’d love it back home. It rains all the time.” he said, sitting next to me. “Maybe we should have moved there, that would have been far enough away from everyone.”

“No distance would keep my parents away.” I laughed.

Harry smiled and lightly tapped my legs with his foot.

“Aren’t you freezing Mel?”

“I like the cold.”

He stuck his hand out to feel the rain but quickly regretted his decision.

“Can I ask you something?”

“Sure.” he replied.

“Would you be upset if I went home to see my family?” I asked, staring at the city.

Harry paused.

“If that’s what you want to do, then I support you.”

“We do this thing every year, 2 weeks before christmas where we have this dinner with all my relatives. My mother had asked me if I was going to come one last time and I was thinking I should go, so I could see my grandmother.” I rambled.

“Whatever makes you happy.” Harry replied, holding my hand.

“It’s a crazy idea but maybe you could come with?”

Harry’s eyes got wide. He started to squirm a little at the thought of sitting at a table with my parents.

“Please?” I begged, moving closer to him.

“Fine, but if they say anything rude about us, we’re leaving.”

I smiled and rested my head on his chest.

“I’m tired so I’m going to go back to bed. I just wanted to check on you.”

Harry gave me a small peck on the cheek and stood up. I grabbed his hand before he would leave.

“I’ll be in soon.”

He nodded his head and shuffled back to bed.

I sat in the rain for another 10 minutes before shutting the doors and drying my legs off. I was completely numb and I loved it. The warmth of the room made my legs tingle.

I snuck back to bed and crawled in beside Harry. He was lightly snoring peacefully.

“I love you.” I whispered, cuddling up next to him.

“I love you too.” he grunted back, making me laugh. “Now go to fucking sleep.”

Two hours later I was woken up by Harry lightly shaking me awake.

“I have meetings for most of the day. Call me if you need anything.” he said, kissing me on the forehead.

Harry left the room as I rubbed my eyes and yawned. It was 10:23am and I still felt like I could sleep for 8 more days. I grabbed my phone off the nightstand. Natasha had texted me the night before, asking if I wanted to go with her to a shoot today at noon. I said yes to her not knowing I would be up all night sitting in the rain.
