Harry’s POV
“No, I’m good, I just ate.” he said, bursting out laughing.

Mellie gave me an annoying look and turned over.

“What do you want for dinner?” I asked, placed my hand on her hip.

She shrugged her shoulders while refusing to turn to me.

“Do you wanna go out or stay in?”

She shrugged her shoulders again.

Her short, non-verbal answers drove me crazy. I rolled away from her and sat on the edge of the bed.

“We’re going out.” I demanded.

I grabbed my phone from my pocket and made reservations at one of the nicest restaurants in DC. This place was very elite and private. This was a place you took someone you didn’t want the media seeing. I wanted to parade Mel around and show the world that she isn’t some homewrecker but I knew that would backfire on me.

Tiny sobs came from her direction. More crying, really?

“What’s wrong?” I asked, sighing and rubbing my eyes.

She was a very emotional girl. I was okay with that but all this crying was getting to me.

“I just…” she started, rolling over to face me. “feel like I’ve screwed up. I’m a homewrecker and a slut.”

“Don’t say that!” I yelled, laying beside her.

“Even your father thinks that.”

“He has no concern for anyone else’s emotions.” I replied, pulling her in for a hug. “Kendall is digging her own grave.”

The thought of Kendall made my blood boil. She was clearly after my money and wanted a hot husband to show off at her stupid parties.

“We have dinner at 7 o’clock.” I started. “I really want to take you somewhere nice.”

“I have nothing to wear.”

I reached for my phone and dialed the front desk.

“Can you please get the bags from Melody’s car?”

The front desk agreed and hung up the phone.

“Problem solved.” I chucked.

Mellie’s POV
Harry had my bags brought up the the apartment. He carried them upstairs and unzipped them both.

“Now you have plenty of options. Get dress.” he ordered, kissing my forehead. “You can unpack when we get back.”

“I’m not going to unpack.”

“What do you mean? You want to live out of your suitcase?” he asked, turning back towards me.

“I’m not going to live here.”

I looked down at my hands to avoid his angry eyes.

“Funny Mel. Real funny.” he chuckled.

“This apartment is too small for the both of us.”

“Then we’ll find some place else.” he said, walking towards the stairs.

I was actually shocked that he would just suggest moving.

“Really?” I asked.

“I knew eventually I’d have to upgrade.”

He winked at me and walked down the stairs and outside to the patio.

I grabbed my phone out of my bag and texted Nat.

“We are going to find a place together! -Mel 6:28pm”

“Move to NYC baby! The city that never sleeps! -Nat 6:39pm”

Moving to NYC didn’t actually sound that bad. I would be close to Nat and I could get into modeling and acting like I alway wanted. I’m sure Harry wouldn’t mind considering he didn’t have an emotional attachment to this place anyways. You could tell that he only stayed here when he was in town. I’m sure he had other houses that were way better than this little place.

I picked out and outfit and quickly changed into it. I did my makeup and fixed my hair. I checked myself out in the mirror one last time before descending into the floor below.

“Fuck.” Harry mouthed, looking at me through the glass door.

He was on the phone again. I grabbed his suit jacket and shoes and brought them to him.

“Thank you.” he mouthed, holding the phone with his ear and shoulder.

As I turned to walk back inside, Harry started yelling, causing me to jump.

“That was the fucking deal. Either 3.8 mil or I’m backing out.”

I hurried to shut the door. I sat at the kitchen counter waiting for Harry to finish. He opened the door and stepped inside.

“Ready?” he asked, gesturing towards the door.

I linked arms with him as we walked down the hall towards the elevator. He clicked the down button and waited.

“You’re going to love this place.” he smiled, kissing my hand.

The elevator doors opened and we rode down in silence. Harry kept a firm hand on my hip at all times. We got off in the lobby and the front desk handed Harry a set of keys.

“You car is right out front.”

He took my hand and held the door open for me, closely following behind.

“Harry, the press.” I worried.

Looking at me and shrugging, he continued to lead me outside.

The front of the building was covered in people. Everyone was trying to get a glimpse of us.

“Hellie, look over here!” the yelled.

I moved closer to Harry.

“I guess we’re Hellie now.” he chucked, squeezing my hand.

A reported broke free from security and ran up to me. He shoved his video camera in my face, causing me to stumbled backwards. I let go of Harry’s hand.

Harry quickly spun around.

“Oi! Get the fuck out of her face.” he yelled, stepping between the reporter and I.

“I only have a few questions.”

Harry pushed past the man and helped me into the car. Outside was complete madness. Girls screamed as Harry ran over to the drivers side. It was weird seeing people act this way. People literally would throw themselves at us to get out attention. Harry pulled out onto the street and people still followed us. Some even drove next to us, snapping pictures of us driving.

My purse started buzzing so I quickly searched for my phone.

“Hello?”

“Really Melody? You’re with him?” my mother asked.

I had nothing to say. She didn’t ask how I was doing but was asking if I was with him.

“This is so disappointing. You didn’t even give Waylon a chance. He would be a great husband.”

“I don’t want to marry him.” I replied.

“So what, you’re going to marry Harry? You think he’s going to be faithful? You think he’ll actually commit to you?”

“Mother, please stop. You don’t know him.” I said.

I didn’t need to think about marry Harry. I could be happy with him and not be married. I do want to get married someday. Hell, it’s every little girl's dream to marry her prince.

“I know his type. He’ll get bored with you and find someone else. His father gave us a called. He’s concerned for Harry and thinks Harry is better off with Kendall, we very much agree.”

“Please stop.” I begged.

“You need to think about this long and hard. Are you willing to ruin your future for a boy? Your father has decided to cut you off until you make the right decision.”

“Goodbye mother.” I said, hanging up the phone.

I wiped my tears away.

“Mel,” Harry said, placing his hand on my leg. “everything is going to be okay.”

I placed my hands on top of his and looked out the window. We arrived at a placed called Marcel’s. Harry helped me out of the car, making sure to keep me extra close because people had followed us all the way here and continued to pester us.

We were seated at the table and the waiter got us some drinks.

“What are you hungry for?” Harry asked, flipping through the menu.

I had lost my appetite after the phone conversation with my mother.

“I’m not hungry.” I replied, closing my menu.

“Well you’re eating Melody.” he barked, rolling his eyes.

Tears started to form in my eyes. Why was I crying to much? Harry quickly grabbed my wrist.

“Enough.”

I pulled my arm away. I didn’t like it when he grabbed me. It made me feel like a ragdoll that you can just drag along.

“I’m going to New York.” I blurted out.

Harry’s eyes grew wide.

“You’re what?”

“I-I want to go to New York.” I replied, looking down at my lap.

“We can go in a month or so, now isn’t a good time.”

“I just wanna go.” I said, fearing his response.

“Not happening. I can’t protect you if you go alone.”

“My best friend lives there and she wants me to move there. She wants us to move there.” I blurted more information I wanted to save for the right time.
Harry made a thinking face.

“New York it is then.”

I was completely shocked.

“It’s far enough away from your parents and my father.”

A weight lifted off of my shoulders. I smiled at Harry.

Harry ordered us both entrees and they came rather quickly. I took small bites but mostly pushed the food around. Harry ordered dessert and tried to get me to eat some. I looked down at my wrist. A small bruise was forming.

“You ready to go?” Harry asked, standing up.

Nodding my head yes, I followed Harry outside. Many of the people were still waiting and still we just as loud when we waked out. The card ride home was mostly silent.

“What did your mother say that upset you so much?” Harry asked, staring at the road.

“She said you’d never commit to me. That you’ll get bored with me and find someone else.”

Harry gripped the wheel harder.

“She thinks that I’ll never get married and I’ll go crawling back to her so that she can say ‘I told you so’.”

“We’re going to New York this weekend and finding a place.” he added.

“Really?”

“I cannot stand seeing you upset.” he started. “I’m also getting you a new phone number. She doesn’t need to be calling you and bitching in your ear everyday.”

We pulled into the garage of his building.

“Melody, I don’t need a piece of paper telling me that we’re married. I love you now and I’ll love you 20 years from now. If you need the piece of paper, I’ll do it.”

Did he just say the he would marry me?

“I don't want to get marry yet. We can’t rush into something like that.” I replied.

Harry smiled and lightly kissed my lips. I think he was relieved that I wasn’t ready to get married. Harry looked down at his phone and frowned.

“I have to go into the office.” he said.

“Can’t you just go tomorrow morning?”

“I have to go now.” he insisted. “Go upstairs and I’ll be back.”

“I want to go with you. I don’t want to be here alone.”

“No. You’re going upstairs. You can’t come with.” he demanded.

He got out and walked around to my door. I quickly locked the doors so that he could get to me.

“Melody, open the doors.”

“I don’t want to be alone.” I yelled.

“I don’t have time for this, open up.” he said, clenching his teeth.

I crossed my arms and looked forward.

“I swear to fucking god, I will break into this car and drag you upstairs myself if I have to.”

I unlocked the doors but didn’t move.

“Let’s go.” he said, gesturing for me to get out of the car.

I didn’t budge.

“Now.” he yelled, grabbing my arm.

He unbuckled me and pulled me out of the car.

“This isn’t funny. Go upstairs.”

I started walking for the door leading outside. He grabbed my arm and stopped me. Yanking me back, he pulled me into the elevator.

“I don’t want to be here alone.”

“Too fucking bad.” he yelled, getting close to my face.

He pressed the 65th floor.

“Go upstairs. I’ll deal with you later.”

He stepped out of the elevator and the doors closed.

I had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.
