Chapter 45

I sat quietly with Enola while Darcy played across the room with Lux and Freddie. My phone started to ring loudly. I huffed and looked at the caller id. My mother.
"Oh shit." I had forgotten about my mother. It'd been two weeks since I'd learned Darcy was my daughter and I still hadn't told my mother or sister. I was going to be dead meat. "Noli, we need to talk." I said looking at Enola with terrified eyes. I silenced my phone and ignored my mother for the moment. I would call her back after I had spoken to Enola. MY mother would just think that I was working anyway.
Enola looked worried, "Harry, what's the matter?"
"I haven't told my mum." I stated. The boys all made loud 'oooh' sounds, further enforcing that I was going to be in deep shit if I didn't tell her before Darcy and Enola moved in with me.
"Harry Styles!" She scolded me. "I would've thought that you would call her right away. What is wrong with you?" She inquired genuinely upset with me.
"I got caught up in my daughter. I can't help it." I replied, my voice raising in anxiety. Enola shook her head. "Should I invite her out to meet Darcy?"
"Well, duh, Harry. What would she think if Darcy and I just moved into your house?" Enola understood my fear. "Harry, call your mother back. Set up a date for them to come out. Your father and step father should be told as well."
I stopped dialing my mother for a moment, "Do your parents know that I am Darcy's father?"
She shook her head, "Nope. But they can wait until I get home. It'll be easier to deal with them in person. Louis and Niall were the only ones who knew that you could be Darcy's dad. I only told them."
I turned my head to Louis and Niall, "You knew all this time that she could possibly be mine?" They both looked at me with frightened eyes. "You knew and you let me act like an ass because I thought she wasn't?" I inquired of them. They both nodded.
"Hey, I asked them not to tell anyone. They kept their promise. Call your mother." Enola said breaking up what could've escalated to a fight.

I tapped my fingers nervously as I waited for my mother, sister and step father to arrive. Enola seemed completely relaxed. I wondered how she looked so at ease, knowing my family was probably going to have stroke. I watched the door anxiously then felt Enola's hand on my thigh. I turned my eyes to hers.
She smiled, "Relax, Harry. Everything will be okay. If they have anything to say, I'll tell them it was all me. Which it was, I kept this from you. I made the choice to be selfish. Not you."
I gazed at her sadly, "But I could've kept trying to get a hold of you. I shouldn't have given up." Enola shook her head then snuggled into my side. I put my arm around her as she pulled her legs up onto the sofa.
She placed her hand on my chest and gazed into my eyes, "Everything will be okay. I promise."
"Where is Darcy anyway?" I asked, looking all over the room.
Enola chuckled, "She's playing in the other room with Freddie. Louis is watching her while we talk to your mother." I nodded and tried to relax into her touch. "Although I feel like I should go get her because you're so stressed out." Enola said running her fingers through my hair.
I shook my head and sighed, "Just keep doing that and I'll be fine." Enola giggled again. She knew how much I loved her playing with my hair. Enola nodded and rested her head on my shoulder as she continued to stroke my hair.

The door to the dressing room opened. My mother, Gemma and Robin all stepped in with big smiles. I got up from the sofa, leaving a sleeping Enola. I hugged my mother tightly, still terrified of her reaction. She kissed my cheek gently and squeezed me as hard as she could.
"Mum, can't breathe." I choked out. She laughed and let me go. She held my face in her hands and just looked at me for another moment. "I missed you too." I chuckled before kissing her forehead. I hugged my sister next.
"Hey freak." Gemma giggled squeezing me like my mother did.
"You're so mean." I replied quietly releasing her. I shook my step dad's hand before he pulled me into a loose hug. "Hey Robin."
"Harry." He returned the cool greeting.
"Harry, you sounded a bit tense on the phone what's going on?" My mother let her worry show. I smiled weakly.
"Harry?" Enola's voice made me pull my eyes from my mother's. Enola stood and ran her hand through her hair to wake herself up more. "Why did you let me fall asleep again?" She asked with a laugh.
I shrugged, "You're exhausted."
"Enola!" MY sister shouted excited to see her. GEmma always liked Enola. They got on really well. Gemma hugged her tightly and kissed her cheek. Enola wrapped her arms around my sister in a friendly manner. I smiled at the interaction. Enola fit in with my family. They all loved her. "How have you been and why are you with this loser?" Gemma pointed to me as she backed out of the hug.
Enola laughed, "I've been well. How are you?" She avoided my sister's second question gracefully.
Gemma smiled at Enola brightly, "I'm getting married soon."
"Harry told me that. Congrats. I'm sure you're going to be the most beautiful bride in history." Enola complimented her. Gemma's smile got even bigger. "Hello Mrs Twist. Mr Twist." Enola greeted my mum and step dad politely.
"Enola, I told you to call me Anne." My mother laughed as she pulled Enola into a warm embrace. Enola nervously accepted the gesture. My step dad hugged her as well. My mum turned her eyes to mine again, "You've gotten your love back I see."
I blushed and scolded her, "Mum!"
"What, honey? I think it's great. Is that why you asked us out?" My mother asked. I shook my head. Just as I was about to give her an lengthy explanation that led to the truth about Darcy, she burst into the room, like she was so good at.
"Daddy!" She screamed, tears running down her face. I frowned not liking the fear in my child's eyes. I picked her up quickly. "Daddy." She breathe heavily and rested her head on my shoulder. She cried and sniffled as I hugged her close.
"What's wrong, babygirl?" I asked her, ignoring the shocked faces of my mother, sister, and step father.
"Freddie and I were playing and I fell down." She stated. "I hurt my knees and my elbows." Darcy said pulling away from me, showing me her scraped elbows.
"Oh, I'm sorry baby. Do you want Daddy to kiss it?" I asked her with a smile. She nodded, her bottom lip still pouting. I grabbed her arm and kissed her elbow gently. She then held the other out to me. I kissed her opposite elbow lightly as well.
"Knees too Daddy!" Darcy giggled. I couldn't help but smile as I flipped her into the air, cradling her like a baby so I could kiss her knees. Darcy squealed loudly as I tried to give her raspberries on her exposed stomach. I laughed as she tried to push me away, giggling. Her laugh was amazing to me. It filled my heart with joy.
"All better, babygirl." I informed her as I returned her to her upright position. I turned my head to see my mother had her hands over her mouth, tears forming in her eyes. My sister was shocked, her jaw was on the floor while Robin stood beside my mother with his hand on her shoulder. "Darcy. Wanna meet new people?" I asked her with a smile. She nodded quickly. "Darcy. This is my Mummy. And my sister and my step dad." I pointed to them as I told her who they were.
"I'm Darcy!" She announced loudly making Enola and I laugh. Darcy reached for my mother. My mum took her nervously. She stared into Darcy's eyes with wonder almost like I did. "Why are you so sad?" Darcy asked my mother quietly, seeing the tears running down her cheeks. Darcy wiped them away gently.
"I'm not sad, sweetie." My mother answered quietly.
"Why are you crying then?" Darcy inquired.
"I'm very happy to meet you." My mother stated with a bright smile.
Darcy grinned as well, "You're my daddy's mummy?"
"Yes I am." My mother seemed taken with Darcy already.
"Can I call you Grammy?" Darcy requested.
"If it makes you happy to call me that." My mother responded happily.
Darcy turned her eyes to my step dad, "Hi."
He laughed, "Hello Darcy." Darcy reached for him. My mother reluctantly handed her to Robin. I looked over at Enola. She looked nervous so I pulled her close to me and kissed her hair. She gripped the back of my shirt tightly.
"And you told me not to worry. Big fibber." I whispered to her. She looked up at me with sad eyes. "It's okay. It'll be okay." I assured her. She nodded and leaned against me. I returned my gaze to my daughter who was still speaking to Robin.
"What do I call you? Since you're my daddy's other daddy?" Darcy asked.
Robin shrugged, "It's up to you my girl."
Darcy placed her finger on her chin as she thought for a moment, "Pops." Robin laughed and agreed to it. I shook my head at my child's ability to bring out the best in people. Just like her mother. I laid my head on Enola's as I watched Darcy reach for my sister. "Auntie!" She exclaimed excitedly. Gemma still looked at her with a dropped jaw. "You're going to catch flies." Darcy murmured to her. I cracked up laughing as did Enola. Enola said that to her all the time for having her mouth hanging open while she watched television.
Gemma broke into a smile, "You're adorable."
Darcy blushed, "Mummy says I'm cute like Daddy."
Gemma nodded, "You are. You look just like Daddy." Gemma turned to me, "How could you not know she was yours? She looks just like you, right down to the dimples."
"Don't exactly see straight when certain people are involved." I stated shyly. My mother and Robin smirked, knowing everything that was going on in my head when Enola first came back into my life.
Gemma rolled her eyes, "You're a fool." I shrugged to agree with her.
"What's your full name?" Gemma asked Darcy.
"Darcy Anne Styles." She replied with a smile.
"And she has your name. You're dumb." Gemma stated. I rolled my eyes; Enola and I had just given her my name. "What's your birth date?"
"The tenth of July. I just turned four." Darcy replied. Gemma continued to ask Darcy questions about herself. Darcy answered them without any hesitation. Enola relaxed a little against me.

"Harry, why didn't you tell us?" My mother inquired.
"Mum, I didn't know until two weeks ago. I'm sorry I didn't tell you when I found out. I just...I got caught up in her." I explained. Enola placed her hand on my thigh under the table to comfort me.
"Enola, I don't mean to insult you but Harry, are you sure she's yours?" My mother asked.
I glared at her, "Of course she is! Look at her!"
My mother frowned, "Baby, I'm just asking. Again, Enola, I'm not trying to be mean but you were married when you met my son."
Enola nodded, "I know. You're just trying to protect your son. But she is his daughter. We took a DNA test so I could change her birth certificate. She is his." Enola gripped my arm gently and stroked my skin to soothe my anger.
My mother beamed, "THat's great. And you two are...together?"
I looked at Enola nervously and she shook her head, "Not as of right now."
"We're working on it." I added quietly.
My sister smiled, "THat's a good idea. You don't want to rush anything, you have a daughter to worry about." Enola nodded, telling Gemma that was her concern. "Which, since she's my niece, can she be in my wedding? I've not been able to find a flower girl."
Enola shrugged, "Ask her. I don't mind it but it's up to her." Enola looked at me, "If she wants to are you okay with it?" I nodded. I welcomed it. It was a great way to get Darcy introduced to everyone in my family. Enola turned back to Gemma, "It's up to Darcy." Gemma got up and ran over to Darcy.
"Harry, what are your plans, as parents, for what you will do next?" My mother inquired.
"Well, Enola and Darcy are going to move in with me. So when I am home, I'm with them all the time. Which, I can't go home to help and the lease Enola has on her current place is up a week after they get back, could you help them move into my house?"
"Oh Harry, I can figure it out. I can hire movers." Enola protested my request.
"Yeah, for the big stuff and to get you from that house to our house but who will help you unpack and get Darcy's room set up?" I asked her quietly.
"Harry, I've been alone for a long time. I can do it. I am overly capable." Enola smiled.
"Well, you're not alone in it anymore." I replied sharply.
"Probably the nicest thing to say, in the meanest tone." Enola giggled. I laughed as well and shook my head. I looked over at my mother who was smirking. Robin appeared amused as well.
"Anyway, will you help her?" I requested again.
My mother nodded, "Of course, my dear. It'll be a great way to get to know my grandchild and reconnect with her mother. We'd love to help out." I smiled at Enola teasingly. I kissed her forehead after she stuck her tounge out at me.
