Chapter 44

"Daddy. Daaaaddy." I heard my daughter's voice right next to my face. I opened my eyes to see Darcy staring at me with a huge smile. "Hi Daddy." She giggled. She was hanging out of the bunk above mine.
"Darcy, stop it. You're going to fall. Get in bed with Daddy if you want to talk to me." I groaned quietly.
"I can't you and Mummy take up all of the room. And uncle Louis wants you to wake up." Darcy replied in a a giggle. I groaned again and looked at Enola's sleeping body. I carefully shifted her so I could get out of the bunk without waking her. Once out of the bunk, I grabbed Darcy from her bunk and walked out into the common area. As I sat down on the sofa with Darcy, I noticed the sad looks I was getting from the boys, Brynn and Sophia.
"What's wrong with you guys?" I asked turning on a movie for Darcy.
"We..um...you and Enola woke us all up last night. We...heard you talking." Brynn replied nervously. I ran my hand through my hair and grunted.
"You did the right thing Harry." Sophia stated resting her hand on my shoulder.
I glared at her, "Leave it alone."
"Harry, we're just saying that you did a good thing. You didn't..." Liam began.
"I said leave it alone. We're not going to talk about this. You're not Enola and its not your business." I snapped at him. Darcy looked up at me worried. I smiled down at her, "Are you hungry, babygirl?" She nodded quickly. I chuckled and turned to the cabinet.

"Daddy, when is Mummy going to be up?" Darcy asked looking up from her bowl of cereal.
I ran my hand through her hair gently, "I'm not sure, baby girl."
Darcy appeared sad, "Well, can I go wake her up?"
"No. Let Mummy sleep." I replied shaking my head. Darcy nodded and returned to eating her breakfast. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. I was still tired myself. I smiled a little. I was always exhausted when I was with Enola. We would try to stay awake as long as we could just to spend one more moment together, looking at each other, speaking to each other or kissing.
"Daddy? Why are you smiling?" Darcy asked softly.
I shook my head, "No reason, baby."
"Were you thinking about Mummy? You only smile like that for Mummy." Darcy informed me. I chuckled and nodded. "Daddy?" Darcy inquired. I turned my head to her. "Are you and Mummy going to get married?"
"Who says that we're not already?" I asked my curious daughter.
"Mummy doesn't have a pretty ring like Auntie Sophia's. And you don't have one like Uncle Liam's." Darcy pointed to my hand and Liam's.
"Mummy and I are just Mummy and I. We're not like other people, baby girl." I explained.
"Why?" Darcy inquired without taking a moment to pause.
I chuckled, "Because we see things in a different light."
"Why?" She got closer to my face.
I kissed her forehead, "I'll tell you when you're older."
"Daddy!" She whined loudly.
"Darcy!" I mocked her with a smirk. She sat down and folded her arms over her chest. She pouted and glared at her cereal bowl. "Darcy, finish your breakfast. I'm going to go check on Mummy." I looked up to the boys, "Keep an eye on her?"
"We're on a bus. How much trouble could she get into?" Niall asked looking a bit shocked.
I smirked, "You'd be shocked." Niall smiled a bit and nodded. I thanked him then walked back into the bunk area. I opened the curtain to my bunk slowly, not wanting to wake Enola. I smiled when I saw her staring back at me. "Hey."
"Hi." She murmured.
"Whatcha doin?" I asked leaning against the bunks, moving my face closer to hers. She shook her head and returned her eyes to the photograph in her hand. I didn't need to look at the picture to see which one it was. There was only one missing from the wall. It was a photo Enola had taken of us while in Italy. We were naked in our bed. Her breasts covered by my body and the blankets covering me. There was a light in her eyes that I missed so very much as she smiled at me and I gazed down at her. "I remember that night like it was yesterday." I whispered to her.
She smiled a little, "Yeah, me too." She turned and placed the photo back on the wall. She picked up another one. A photograph from when we were first together in Ireland. "I remember these three days like it was last night as well. God, we were so..."
"Us?" I asked with a chuckle.
She laughed, "Pretty much. That was the most fun and free I have ever felt in my life. Italy was the most loved I've ever felt in my life."
"Then there was Paris." I stated quietly.
She sighed heavily, "Paris is when I decided that I was going to leave Charles no matter what. Lawyer or not. We talked about having Darcy and everything we wanted to do together. I realized that never once had I thought of what life with Charles would be twenty years down the line. But with you, even though it was a day at a time, I always felt that no matter how many years would pass, you'd still be the one I loved." I couldn't help but smile. She continued speaking, "When I was on the plane back to LA, I thought about what life with Charles would be like, five, ten, fifteen years down the line, and I...I hated it. I saw a miserable me. No kids. No friends. No life. Bruises and humiliation covering my entire existence." She looked up at me with tears in her eyes. "I'm so thankful that I met you. Even though we didn't get the fairy-tale ending we always talked about, you gave me something that I will never ever be able to thank you for." I lifted my eyebrow at her. She giggled, "I have Darcy. Someone that will always love me. Someone I will always love. She's every bit of me as she is you. Having the love of your child is the most...amazing thing."
I smiled, "I know exactly what you mean." She lifted her head from the pillows and pressed her forehead to mine. She buried her hand in my hair and held me close. I laid my hand on her stomach and stroked her exposed flesh lightly.
"Can I tell you a secret?" She whispered gazing into my eyes.
"Always." I snickered.
"When I would lay in bed at night, while I was pregnant, I would lay my hands on my stomach and pretend they were yours. There were even a couple of times when Louis napped with me, that I would ask him to hold me, always asked him because he was the closest I was going to get to you." She murmured.
"Don't tell me that you let Louis in your bed. It just makes me want to hit him." I responded making her laugh.
"Why? I asked him to. It's not like he did it without asking or against my wishes." Enola seemed curious.
I pressed my forehead to hers a bit harder, "You're my girl. I don't want anyone else to hold you the way I should be."
Enola shook her head, "No one could hold me the way you do." We both smiled and I leaned in more. Just as my lips were about to touch hers, we were interrupted.
"Daddy?" Darcy's little voice came from beside me. I sighed heavily and dropped my head.
I looked at my daughter after a moment, "Yes, baby?"
"Is Mummy up now?" She inquired meekly.
I nodded, "You wanna get in bed with Mummy for a little while?" Darcy happily agreed to the idea. I picked her up quickly then let her crawl into the bunk with Enola. "Alright. You girls have fun." I said before trying to walk away.
"No! Daddy stay!" Darcy whined gripping my wrist. She looked so sad that I was going to leave them but I didn't feel like I should stay.
"Baby, there's no room for me in there." I said sadly.
Enola smiled brightly, "Yes there is." I lifted my eyebrow at her. "Darcy come here, baby." Enola pulled Darcy into her arms then placed her on top of her body, moving right up next to the wall. I jumped up into the bunk. "Harry, lay on your back." Enola instructed. I did as told. "Darcy, lay on Daddy." Darcy quickly shuffled onto me. She rested her head in the crook of my neck as her little chest rested on mine. Enola moved closer to me, laying her head right beside mine. She drapped her leg over mine and put her arm over Darcy and I. It was tight but it was insanely comfortable. Enola smiled brightly once again, "See, there's always room for Daddy."
"Yeeeah." Darcy agreed with Enola. I flushed a bright red and nodded shyly. Enola kissed my cheek lightly as Darcy snuggled into me. "What are you doin?" Darcy asked Enola.
"I was looking at pictures with Daddy." Enola replied quickly.
"Ooooh. I like looking at pictures." Darcy sounded super excited. Enola reached behind her and grabbed a photo I had taken of her and Darcy while we were still in London. They were sleeping on my sofa in the middle of the day. I kissed Darcy's hair gently as I thought back to all the things we'd done that day: the movies, the park, lunch with the boys.
"Hey Darcy?" I murmured.
"What Daddy?" She giggled.
"Do you like your purple room?" I asked of her.
She nodded, "Yeah but we're not going to live there anymore. Mummy and I are going to get a new house."
"What if I told you, you could paint your room whatever color you wanted and could decorate it however you wanted, what would you do?" I asked her.
"I want purple butterflies. Or pixies. I like the pixie you gave me." Darcy responded happily.
"Okay, so you want Daddy to make your room purple pixies and butterflies?" Enola asked of Darcy knowing where I was going with the question. She nodded against my chest quickly. "Well then, Daddy, I think that when you get home you're going to have to paint Darcy's room purple and put her butterflies back up." Enola said to me. Darcy looked confused.
"Baby, remember how Mummy and I said we would talk about which house you were going to live in?" I inquired. Darcy nodded though she still looked confused. "Well, Mummy and I decided that you guys are going to move into my house. You're going to live with me now."
Darcy's eyes lit up and she smiled widely, "Really?"
I nodded, "So when you go back to London with Mummy, you're going to be a good girl and help Mummy pack up all of your toys, books, clothes and all of your stuff so you can move into Daddy's."
Darcy looked extremely happy as she said, "Yay! Mummy and Daddy are gonna tuck me in in my new room!" I frowned as did Enola. I didn't want to tell her that I wasn't going back to London with them. I didn't want to tell her that I wasn't going to be there when she slept in her new home for the first time.
"Baby girl, I'm not going back to London with you." I informed her quietly.
Her bottom lip quivered as her face dropped, "Why not Daddy?"
"Because I have to stay with Louis, Niall and Liam, we have to work." I explained softly. She still looked really sad. "I won't be gone for very long. I'll be home a few weeks after that for a break. I'll be home for a couple of months. You'll have tons of fun with Nana and Mummy while I am gone. Maybe you'll get lucky and I'll bring a big present home for you." I said trying to ease her sorrow. Darcy smiled and snuggled into me once again. I held her and her mother close and tight.
