Chapter 40

"Harry?" I heard Enola's voice distantly. I turned on my side and gazed at her tear streaked face. She stood next to my bed, with her arms wrapped around herself.
"Noli, what's wrong, baby?" I asked hoarsely. She whimpered and climbed into the bed with me. She buried her face in my chest. I held her close as my eyes slid shut, "Noli, what's the matter?"
"I had a horrible dream." She squeaked. I smiled and squeezed her tightly. Two weeks of travel and she was already starting to have nightmares. It happened when she was over tired or jet lagged.
I kissed her hair, "About what?"
"Darcy." She replied in another whimper. I frowned deeply and kissed her forehead. I tilted her head so she would look me in the eye. "I dreamed she had been taken, that someone had stolen her." Enola cried.
"Never going to happen baby. No one is ever going to touch her. I promise." I whispered to her. These dreams weren't brought on by exhaustion but by the threats Charles had been making. Enola and I flew back to London with Darcy a few days after the blood test to change her documents so Charles would leave her alone but he was just making a bigger fuss. He had said he was coming to our next city with his lawyers to see what could be done.

I stepped off the plane with Darcy in my arms and Enola right behind me. Darcy wouldn't let Enola touch her when we tried to get her sleeping body off the plane. But I could pick her up with no hassle. I could see that it was bothering Enola a little bit.
"You can't hold her up as long as I can. You have to shift her too much." I told Enola as we reached the car. Enola gave me a blank stare. I laughed, "It's fine. You know that she loves you." Enola grunted and got into the back of the SUV. I sighed heavily and climbed in behind her, still cradling Darcy close. I sat as close to Enola as I possibly could. She glanced at me for just a moment then gazed out the window with her chin resting on her fist. I smiled when I thought of something to say to her to lift her mood. "Or maybe she's just too much like you and my chest is too comfortable of a pillow." I smirked as I whispered into her ear. Enola smiled and pushed me away playfully but kept her eyes out the window. "Talk to me, Noli. What's bothering you?" I asked softly as to not wake our sleeping child.
"Nothing." She mumbled.
"Enola. Come on. I know you better than that. Suck it up and tell me what's wrong." I commanded with the sweetest tone possible. Enola sighed heavily and turned to Darcy and I. Enola stroked Darcy's cheek softly with her index finger. "Noli." I pleaded.
"I'm afraid of what's going to happen." She murmured, still gazing at our daughters face. I opened my mouth to inquire further but she spoke again before I could. "I'm afraid of what's going to happen with my family. What's going to happen with your career. What will happen to Darcy because of your career." She babbled quickly.
"Anything else?" I asked when I saw the worry that still lingered in her eyes.
"I'm afraid of what Charles is going to do when he finds out that Darcy is yours." As her eyes met mine, I could see the sheer terror grasping her heart.
"He's not going to do a damn thing. I won't let him I swear." I stated holding her face so she would look into my eyes. Her lips parted, she was getting ready to protest my statement. "HE WON'T DO ANYTHING." I said firmly. "He forgets that I have a legal team just as large and skilled as his. I have just as much wealth as he does. And I will fight him that way if I have to." Enola's eyes were still saddened and scared. I leaned closer to her, burying my hand in her hair, forcing her to stare into my eyes again. "But there is something I have that he will never ever have." Enola searched my eyes for the answer. "Love. I love you and Darcy more than anything. His selfishness is what fuels him. I will do anything for you and our child because I love you. I'll never stop fight for you." I murmured to her before kissing her forehead lightly. Enola buried her face in my neck and started to cry. I wrapped my arms around her and held her tightly to ease her fear.
"Daddy, I don't want to go back on the plane!" Darcy whined as I carried her out of the small shop. Changing her documents had been easy, a lot of paperwork but fairly easy. Enola and I decided to take Darcy shopping since she had been so well behaved through the process. Now, she didn't want to return to the tour. Enola just giggled hearing Darcy's protests.
"Babygirl, we have to. You don't want to see Uncle Louis and Liam and NiNi? I'm sure Brynn and Sophia miss you so much by now." I tried to sway her on returning.
"I don't care. I wanna stay home. I want you and Mummy and me to stay home." Darcy pouted. I shook my head and tried not to laugh. I looked to Enola; she was hiding laughter as well. We both knew that Darcy wanted all of us home because Enola and I had been closer when it was just the three of us in the house. "Daddy?" Darcy's little voice chirped.
"What baby?" I asked with a sigh. I wasn't in the mood for more whining. I wanted her to be having fun.
"Why are all of those girls looking at you?" She pointed to the other side of the street.
"They know who I am because of my job, remember?" I asked her with an upbeat tone so she wouldn't get stressed out. She nodded and laid her head on my shoulder. "But you also remember that you don't ever have to talk to anyone if you don't want to when you're out with Mummy and Daddy, right?" Darcy nodded against my shoulder. "Good." I muttered and turned to look at Enola again. "Noli, what's wrong, baby?" I asked when I saw her distraught face. She pointed behind me. I glanced over my shoulder to see someone I didn't really want to ever again. "Take her." I moved Darcy into Enola's arms. "Get in the car and ask Dale to stay with you and lock the doors." I commanded. Enola still stared at me with wide eyes. "Noli, just do it. I promise everything will be fine." I assured her. She quickly did as I asked. I slammed the car door and turned back to Charles. He'd gotten much closer to the car.
"Hello Harry." Charles twisted smile spread across his face.
"Chuck." I grunted, knowing it pissed him off. Charles' evil smile disappeared from his ugly mug. "What do you want?" I snipped at him.
"I want to know why you're with my woman and child." He demanded.
"Last time I checked, you and Enola were divorced and Darcy wasn't your kid." It was my turn to smirk. Charles glared at me some more. "But to answer your question, Enola and I brought Darcy shopping. Not that it is any of your business." I stated. "Now if you will excuse me. I have girls to keep happy." I pivoted toward the car. I wanted the pathetic man out of my sight.
Charles reached out and placed his hand on my shoulder, "Has she cheated on you yet?" I glared at the man. "She has!" Charles sounded so excited.
I pushed his hand off my shoulder, "Actually, Enola and I aren't together anymore. We haven't been for a long time." Charles appeared shocked. "We just know how to act like adults." I spat at him. I hated the way he treated Enola. He always acted like a selfish child. Charles began to glare at me. "Is there a reason that you followed us around?" I asked after a moment of just glaring at each other. I smirked, "Yeah. I noticed you about an hour ago. What do you want?" I took a step back and gave him a confused look, "And why do you smell like you've been drinking for days?" Charles stepped closer a menacing look in his eyes.
"I want my daughter." Charles grunted at me.
"Well you better start fucking your girlfriend because the little girl in that car is mine, not yours." I snapped at him.
"That's bullshit, Harry and you know it." Charles growled at me.
I shook my head, "Darcy is mine and I can prove it."
"Like hell you can. Enola's word is not proof. She's a grade A liar. She probably just told you that so you would stay with her." Charles tried to "reason" with me.
"No. Enola and I broke up around the same time she divorced you. Before we knew about the baby. She told me because Darcy is mine." I argued, fibbing a little. He didn't need to know all of the details. "Leave us alone. Both Enola and I are done dealing with you." I stated firmly before turning back to the car.
"I will get her. She's mine and Enola can't keep her from me." Charles nearly shouted.
I glanced back at him, "That's going to be hard when she's not your daughter." I didn't say another word and neither did he. I opened the car door and smiled brightly at Darcy, "Hey babygirl!" I heard Charles grunt again. "Where do you want to go for lunch?" I asked Darcy and Enola as I climbed into the car. Enola gave me an intense worried look. "Everything is fine, Noli. It's fine." I assured her once again.

"Harry, he's trying to take my baby." Enola sobbed into my chest.
"Well, he can't. She's ours and he can't have her." I responded quickly. Enola took in a shaky breath. "Noli, he can't take my daughter. No one would ever do that. You have all of the documentation that she is mine. He can't touch her."
"Mummy? Daddy?" Darcy's tiny voice came from the end of the bed. I lifted my head from the pillows, to see her clutching her teddy bear.
"What's up babygirl?" I smiled at her.
"I can't sleep. Mummy was crying in her sleep." Darcy stated.
"Sweetie, Mummy is alright. Its okay to go back to bed." I assured her.
Darcy gazed at me shyly, "Can I sleep with you and Mummy?" I groaned quietly in my mind then nodded. I released Enola for a moment to help Darcy up into the bed. I settled back down in the bed on my back. Enola snuggled into my right side while Darcy snuggled into my left. Darcy rested her head on my chest while Enola buried her face in my neck. I sighed in contentment.
"What's up with you?" Enola whispered.
I smiled, "I got both of my girls in my arms. I'm a blessed man." Enola chuckled a bit then kissed my cheek. "Everyone go back to sleep. I have to get up early to do some interviews." Darcy snuggled closer to me and sighed within a few moments she was asleep again.
"This is always what it should be like." I murmured to Enola only to realize that she was asleep as well. I chuckled and held them tighter still. I fell asleep with my girls.
