Fool's Gold

Chapter 84

Enola sat at the end of the bed quietly. She was combing her hair since she'd just gotten out of the shower. I smiled at the sight of her wrapped in a towel. I was hoping she'd skip the pajamas and just crawl into bed naked. But as I watched her, I noticed that she wasn't okay. For the rest of the evening with Katy and Seth, she laughed and acted like there wasn't anything wrong. Now that we were alone, it was written all over her face and in the way she moved. I frowned when her phone began to ring. Her face dropped even more, if that were possible. She stood from the foot of the bed and walked to the night stand. She picked up her phone and answered quietly. I assumed it was Charles from the volume of her voice.
"No. I'm fine. I promise." She muttered. "Can you? Like on Thursday? It would mean a lot to me." She still kept her voice soft. "Thank you. I'll see you then." She threw her phone back onto the nightstand. She looked back at me and smiled weakly. I moved across the bed to lay behind her. I proped myself up on my elbow.
I kissed her arm lightly, "Are you alright, baby?" Enola nodded and smiled at me again. "Are you sure? You're really quiet all of a sudden."
"I'm fine, Bear. I'm just tired." She replied turning her face to look out the window. I knew that the argument we'd had before dinner was making her dejected and far away.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you. I should know this is just as hard for you as it is for me." I murmured resting my chin on her arm where my lips had just been.
"I'm not mad that you yelled at me. I know why you're upset but I just can't wish for those things right now. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves. We don't know how long this divorce will take. I'm just now getting into see a lawyer on Monday. I just...we have to be slow about these things, okay. You're still young too." Enola spoke sadly.
"I'm young?" I asked her curiously. What did my age have to do with it? We've talked about many things and she always told me that I had a wisdom beyond my years, part of the reason she gave me the nickname Bear.
"You have your whole life to get married and have children. You should live. Do the things you really want to while you can." She stated running her hand through my hair gently. She didn't want me to feel tied down. I didn't like that she thought I would feel that way. I was the one who started the conversation.
"You're not that much older than me." I chuckled to ease the tension within her. Enola giggled too. "We can do all of the crazy things we want to do. I just want to do them together. I want to be together the way we should be. Out in the open." Enola smiled warmly at me and kissed my forehead. "But you will marry me. Whether it be right after your divorce or five years from now. You're going to marry me." I stated firmly.
Enola laughed, "You are going to ask me proper, right?" Inside, I cheered. She wanted that life with me. She just didn't feel entitled to it. She also didn't want me to have any regrets about it either.
I gave her a cheeky smile, "Of course. Ring and tears and everything. But you will say yes."
"Do you know how many relationships that start out like this actually end in marriage?" Enola inquired. I just stared at her, waiting for an answer. "Less than twenty five percent."
"How do you know that?" I asked with a laugh. It was a strange thing to ask. It was not a topic I wanted to discuss either. We were engaged in this secret, for now, romance because we honestly loved each other. Not because she wanted to cheat and I wanted a thrill. We were in love. The statistics didn't matter. We were different.
"I looked it up." Enola mumbled like she was embarrassed.
I frowned and caressed her back lightly, "Noli, we're going to be fine. I promise."
"I was going to say..." She began leaning toward me a bit more. "We'll be the two that blow every statistic out of the water. If any two can make it, it's going to be you and I." Enola smiled genuinely as she placed her lips over mine for a moment. At least we saw eye to eye on that.
"I love you, Noli. I'm not going anywhere." I murmured as she wrapped her arm around my neck. I drew her lips back to mine. I gripped her waist firmly. She locked and unlocked her lips with mine, creating a fire in the pit of my stomach. I removed her towel with a quick and steady hand. I pulled her body on top of mine. She carefully shifted to straddle my hips. I held her wet hair back away from her face as I meshed my mouth with hers passionately. My hands wandered her back then lower. I made her giggle when I gripped the firm flesh of her rear. My hands finally settled on her thighs.
Enola backed out of the kiss, "You have a thing for my thighs." I could only blush at her observation. She smirked a bit, "It's okay. I have a strange fascination with your chest. Espacially this spot right here." Enola kissed my chest over the cross I wore. The dip in my chest between my pecs. I bit on my lip as she whispered against my skin, "So sexy that."
I groaned, "Ugh, don't say it like that."
"Why not?" Enola seemed worried.
"Don't say 'so sexy that' you sound like Louis and it freaks me out." I laughed dragging my fingers up and down her thighs.
"So sexy that." Enola said again mocking Louis' Yorkshire accent.
"Gross! Get off of me!" I said trying to push Enola onto the bed beside me. Enola kept her thighs tight to my hips so I couldn't move her. "Enola! Stop!" I laughed as she kissed up my neck and kept saying things the way Louis would.
"What? You want Niall instead?" She giggled mocking his accent as well.
"No!" I tried to move her off of me again. "Why are you so damn good at that?" I asked.
"What are you talking about, love?" Enola sounded just like Liam this time.
"That is scary. Stop." It was weird but I couldn't help laughing. She was way too good at the impressions.
She copied Zayn next, "Oh baby. I'm just playing." I stuck my tounge out at her and poked her side making her laugh suddenly. "Or should I just try to sound like you?" She mimicked my deep voice and lazy way of speaking. I flipped us in the bed so I was laying on top of her.
"I am so sick of you making fun of me." I fake cried.
Enola gave me lusty eyes, "Yeah? What are you going to do about it?" I growled playfully at her and molded my lips to hers. She wound her arms around my neck, burying one hand in my hair. After just another moment, I groaned softly into her lips, feeling my body react to the slow, nearly agonizing thrusts of her hips. She slid one hand down my neck to my chest. Her fingers landed over the spot she said she was obessed with. I sighed once again at the sensation of her lean, small fingers stroking my chest.
"Do you think we'll be like this ten years from now?" I asked her after another moment of firey kisses.
Enola beamed at me, "I know it." My smile instantly matched hers. "Now kiss me." She whined quietly. I lowered my mouth to hers once again.
