Never Ever

i remember when we broke up the first time

Louis felt like tearing out all of his hair with his own hands as he paced around his best mate’s flat. He went from left to right of the apartment and back again with her hands stuffed in her pockets. He was mumbling to himself about Veronica, and how she was so annoying. It was always her way and never his. He was never allowed to do one of his things in place of hers.

He could feel the burning, prickling feeling in his eyes, which meant that tears would soon fall. He would not cry. He couldn’t cry because if he did, that meant he wanted her back, and he did not want her back. He would never want her back because she was a selfish, arrogant girl. As he continued to pace, he could hear murmuring, and he assumed it was Harry talking, but he couldn’t seem to transfer anything through his brain.

He could only let the burning tears slip down his cheeks as he stared down at the dark hardwood ground.

She sat on the couch with a tub of ice cream in her lap, and the Notebook playing on the telly. Her hand angrily wiped across her eyes as she tried not to let the tears fall. She will not cry over the sorry excuse of a boy named Louis. She wouldn’t.

She shoveled another spoonful of ice cream into her mouth as she wished to have a love like Noah and Allie. It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t close to perfect at all, and they had issues when they were younger, but they loved each other. Veronica wanted for a boy to love her like Noah loved Allie, and she wanted to love the boy back. She was so close to achieving that with Louis, but he didn’t love her like she loved him. He didn’t need her like she needed him. He came and left as he pleased, and they fought too much about silly things such as the color the walls should be or the movie they should watch. Louis always wanted to watch Grease, and though she loved that movie, she wished to watch something new.

With both their sassy attitudes mixed together, it wasn’t a healthy relationship. It was full of arguing and crying and screaming along with sarcasm, and with that, no one was going to end up happy.

Her eyes flickered to the phone near the door. She had threw it at the door when he left, and she could see her screen light up, signaling that a message was waiting for her before it slowly dimmed to a darkness. She resisted the urge to jump up and see if it was him. Instead, she stayed planted to the couch and spooned another scoop of cookie dough ice cream into her mouth as she finally let the tears slide down her cheeks.
