Nothing Without Love

Whatever You Want

Louis POV

“Josie.” I whisper, leaning down next to her face. She's sleeping, I'm headed out with Stan and I just want to let her know. “Josie.” I whisper again, nudging her shoulder. “Baby.” I smile to myself, as soon as she said she didn't like that term I knew I had to call her that.

“Don't call me that.” She mumbles and turns the other way.

“Josie.” I use my normal voice now, if only she would listen to me.

“What time is it?” Her voice is filled with sleep, grumbly.

“It's just after four.” I lean over to her now in the middle of the bed. “Stan and I are going deep sea fishing, I just wanted you to know.” I literally just got three hours of sleep but the life reminds me of tour life, you can never get enough sleep.

“What time will you be back?” She speaks into her pillow and covers her bare shoulders with the blanket. The bed was super comfortable, I hated to leave it but I don't see Stan enough anymore.

“We'll be back for lunch, Stan doesn't want to stay out too long.” I'm whispering now, Josie has yet to open her eyes as I know better then to wake her but I've tried to leave notes for people in the past and they always fall, people get pissed so I just wake them up and let them know.

“Bye.” She pulls the covers over her head and I take that as my cue to walk quietly out as so she doesn't kill me anymore then she probably always wants to. I grab a light rain jacket and meet Stan in the hallway.

“Josie care?” He asks, quietly closing the door to their room.

“I don't even know if she knew I was speaking to her.” I laugh. “Sam?”

“We'll just have to take Davis for a little bit this afternoon while they go shopping or something. Some baby free time.” I nod as we fall in line and traipse down the steps and grab some snacks from the kitchen, a few bottles of water. We're going on a boat that I went on a few times while in One Direction, that's the only way I could get a hold of someone so quickly and they were free to accommodate us. Thankfully it's not that far away from here, only a few miles and traffic is never crazy before five am. I'm not one for fishing usually but Stan is, and this is his trip so I'll do whatever I can to just hang out with him.

I take the lead, I'm more used to driving on the wrong side of the road then he is and we find the docs easily. The boat takes off easily, it's a larger boat so I won't get sea sick, little dingys are too much to me and the waves are calm in the morning so no motion sickness medicine for me.

My number one fear of course, is accidentally falling into the ocean and being eaten alive by a shark. A little over the top yet it can be realistic. I'd never tell anyone though, my personality has a trait where it's always one to tease and if anyone can get a piece of a weakness I know I'll be teased back. It doesn't bother me, I pick on weaknesses too. With love of course.

Our guide sets our lines up and now we sit and wait. Fishing is a sit and wait game but it's more of a communication hobby as well. Of course you can fish by yourself, just you, the water, and the fish. But when you fish with someone else, you both get trapped by the waves, the motion of the boat rocking back and forth, the quiet. It's human nature to fill the quiet with noise. To not make things awkward. It's nice when you have a friend that it doesn't matter, you don't have to constantly talk. But it's been a while since Stan and I have seen each other so of course he'll be chatting like crazy.

“So when's the wedding?” Stan starts laughing, he almost can't even finish his question. I swear sometimes it's like we're still in school with him.

“Don't get your panties in a twist, we've been dating for six months.” I say flatly, watching the water for my line.

“Oh come on, shes your lobster!”

“My lobster?” I ask for clarification, pulling the slack on the line a little.

“From Friends. Come on, we used to watch the show all the time, it's a historic line!” You can tell he's disappointed with the fact I didn't pick up on his trivia but a lot has happened since the last time I saw a friends episode. “So come on. Spill.” He nudges me.

“Spill what?” I have no idea what he's talking about, he goes from weddings to lobsters to Friends, I don't know what topic he wants me to talk about.

“Josephine!” He speaks sharply. “Come on. Sam and I talked about her, we like her, more then I liked Eleanor, and you know I liked her. And you know I'm picky about who I like to see my best mates with.” He continuously nudges me as I process his thoughts.

“I don't know, she's cool.” I shrug, pulling the slack on the line again. Trying to avoid the subject.

“Wow, didn't know.” His voice is filled with sarcasm. I'm not looking at him but I know he's rolling his eyes at me.

“What about Sam. How did you know Sam was the one?” Stan was always the nice guy but he was always a little on the crazy side. He didn't care for settling down and meeting his match. He was all about helping others find their matches but himself wasn't a big focus.

“You know this story. A bunch of us went to Glastonbury, I wanted to check out The Oak Tree project and she was there. It was odd. I saw here there, putting wishes on the trees. She was peaceful, she was like a vision. She looked like a hippie child so it made me laugh. We made eye contact for like a second and she looked away, laughing. Then one of the guys send me a text so I looked down and responded, when I looked up, she was gone.” I'll never admit this but I love this story. I love listening to his voice, sounds weird because he's my best friend but you just know that he's really in love with Samantha.

The conversation pauses for a second while we tend to our poles and drink some water. The sun is up fully now, starting to beat down on us.

“And then a few hours later, I was still thinking about her but I didn't see her. I mean so many people actually go to those festivals, it's so big and so many people are there so I kind of just quit looking for her. Sat back, enjoyed the music and the food. The environment was just happy.” I've been to the festival but I never got to enjoy it before I was famous. It's still fun when people recognize you but sometimes it would have been nice to just blend in. “Then, late at night a group of girls were just tossing the Frisbee, it was dark but it lit up. Anyway, it hit our tent like four times and I got pissed so I'd had enough. Bad enough that people were loud in general, drinking, smoking, then we were getting hit by a Frisbee. When I unzipped the tent, she was there. She apologized to me and I was just awestruck. I didn't even say anything to her. I just nodded and let her go.” I laugh at the thought of Stan being too stunned to speak. He's always got a word to say.

“And then?” I encourage his words.

“And then I was pushed out of the tent for my lack of balls and I just started talking to her. We talked all night, all day, all night, and then we both had to leave the festival but I mean, you know, it didn't take long. We talked constantly, after six months she was pregnant with Davis and I wasn't even scared. I knew that she was the one for me when she hit our tent with the Frisbee. I couldn't wait to marry her and start our family. So we did, engaged when she was just twelve weeks and we married before we even found out Davis was a boy.” He tries to hide his smile but he just can't.

“Man, you are love sick.” I take the opportunity to nudge him as he was nudging me earlier.

“I don't even care mate. Sam is it for me. She gets me, she knows what makes me tick, knows what calms me, her smile can still throw me over the edge.” He leans back in his seat. “Maybe we should head back early.” He laughs.

“Whatever you want.” I put my feet up on the ledge of the boat, following his lead of relaxing.

“I think you have that with Josie. I know you don't want to hear it but I've only been around her for a half a day and I can see it. The way you look at her when she's not paying attention. The way she looks at you. I know I've turned into a large sap about love but that's what having a kid has done to me. Makes you crazy. You know she's it somewhere inside, one of these days a moment will hit you and it will all just click. Everything will fall into place and you'll see the rest of your life in her.”

“Jesus, we need to get you to a pub, have some drinks, get drunk or something, you're sounding like a bird the more you open your mouth.” I tease as we pull our lines in and recast.

“You just wait Louis. Just wait.”

Notes

Please excuse my extremely long absence! I spent a long time with the help of @not_any_maryjane discovering the many people that were stealing my stories and passing them off as their own on Wattpad. I spent about a week working with my dad over my summer break because they were short and then I was just preparing to come back to school. Going to the gym...have to be in top shape for soccer, and then finally just getting into a new routine here at school. my courses are hard, I spend a lot of time researching and studying so this has taken a way back burner! So sorry!

I can't guarantee that I'm back to updating often, but I know you all have waited long enough. And please, please know I'm sorry for the wait. Just a little Stan and Louis for you all to enjoy.

Hope all is well on this beautiful day.
