Out of Nowhere

Chapter 1

I saw the crowd across the street. I didn’t really think anything of it, but when I saw the boy’s eyes in the centre darting around in panic I ran across the street, before I even realised what I was doing.

Let me explain something, I am not your typical everyday eighteen year old girl. Yes, I can be super ‘girly’ at times - I like wearing pretty dresses and other things like that - but I can also be the complete opposite. Both my parents were operatives before I was born. My dad was part of the secret service and my mum was an intelligence agent. She stopped working when she became pregnant with me and went into the administrative side of her job so that she could be more involved in my life and my dad left the secret service for a less demanding bodyguard job. As you can imagine, however, they were big into the whole “fighting" thing. From little I have always attended karate, taekwondo and every self-defense classes imaginable. My parents taught me too, often I would see them training with each and for the past couple of years I have joined in too. They were also, unsurprisingly, focused on protecting others. This meant that when they taught me to fight, the taught me to fight for others.

So, as you can imagine, as soon as I saw the boy with long wavy hair being trapped by the forceful crowd, who were soon going to crush and trample him my instincts took over. I ran from across the street. My feet slapping against the concrete, and my heart thundering in my ears. The world around me quiet, except for the sound of my heavy breathes. Everything began to slow down as I reached the crowd in front of me, rapidly growing, rapidly becoming more forceful.

He was trying to force through the crowd heading towards the car parked on the street, but it was getting thicker and harder. I reached the crowd pushing in from the back where it was less dense, elbowing the girls out of the way. I realized the boys mistake instantly, heading towards his car was making the crowds worse. He needed to go back. There was an office tower behind us, I knew what I had to do. I reached the boy and could saw in his eyes his panic. I heard my dads voice in my head calm. Lauren, If you sound in control you are in control. I made my voice as steady and as authoritative as I could as I looked him in the eyes “I can get you out of here. You just need to follow me and run” He nods, “ok” his voice trembling a bit from being jostled around. “ready,” I say, not waiting for his answer, “go”.

I place one hand on his upper back guiding him, my other pushing the girls out of the way. I force him to turn around and we run to the office building behind us. I can feel him falter a bit unsure of what I am doing but thankfully he follows my lead. I don’t have time to convince him of my plan. We break through the thinner part of the crowd and run into the office building. The girls are still following us though. As we get inside I tell the boy to get down pushing him towards the reception desk. He understands and ducks down behind the desk putting his finger to his lips when the receptionist jumps in surprise. I continue to run, but I make sure that the girls see me turn the corner, however as soon as I get around the corner I untie my hair and shrug off my jacket and take off my glasses. I swiftly change directions as the girls start to thunder around the corner. I continue to walk as I watch the girls run past me stampeding down the corridor. Once the last girl has passed me and is heading out the back door in search of the boy I walk back to the reception desk. I see him still sitting behind the desk his back leaning against it with his head lolling backwards against the desk and his eyes closed. The adrenalin pumping through starts to decrease as I look at him instead nerves taking over as I have a moment to truly take in how gorgeous he looks.

I clear my throat as I near him and his eyes snap open. His green eyes pierce straight through me and my "calm demeanour" evaporates “um, yea your good now, I mean, um, its all clear. ”
He looks up at me and smiles, I hold out my hand to help him up. “thank you...um sorry I didn't catch a name”
“Lauren, my name’s Lauren” I rush
“Thank you very much Lauren.”
“its..its ok” Ugh pull yourself together, Lauren. But in all of the confusion and adrenalin it hadn’t hit me, and now it has. This is Harry Styles. Harry freaken Styles is talking to me right now.
“is there anything I can do to repay you.” He asks his eyebrows furrowed.
“oh no, no its fine!” I ramble, I don’t want him to think I just did this to get something “ive got to go..um…yea I have uni, so, um nice meeting you.”
I awkwardly wave as I walk out but He just looks at me confused.

I walk outside and lean my head against the wall, hitting it against the wall a couple of times muttering under my breath “stupid, stupid, stupid” Ugh! Well done Lauren. That was so smooth, really, that was just amazing. Ugh I hate my stupid self sometimes. Why did I get so tongue tied. I'm not even a huge fan. Ok, he was pretty hot though. Oh, god, I have to pull myself together.
I straighten up and start to walk away but Harry is standing right next to me, an amused smirk on his face from watching me hit my head against the wall, and I immediately blush. “oh, um, hi again” I inwardly groan at my embarrassing self
“Hi” he smirks at me, I can almost hear his internal laughter. “look I really want to thank you properly. So I was wondering whether you would like to come back with me and meet the other boys?”
“oh I would love to! Ugh but I really do have to go to uni, if I don’t go they fail me im sorry”
“oh, no its fine. Look how bout you write down your number and ill see what I can do”
He didn’t have paper so i wrote my number on the back of his hand. his hands were smooth and warm and i felt a "hum" whenever I touched him.
I give him back the pen and look into his green eyes. I suddenly realise I'm staring and this is getting awkward “um, you better get going before the fans come back”
“yeah," he says looking confused his hand on the back of his neck "Well I'm looking forward to seeing you again Lauren”

I watch him walk away, finally taking a full breath. the butterflies in my stomach finally settling. Thats when I realise that he will definitely not be good for me.

I love finding new story flavors. This one is promising. Major points for the different appeal and storyline. I like writers who tackle daring subjects. I'm looking forward to seeing your writing style in the next chapter :)
