One Way or Another

City Star Light

Zayns POVThe night continued to drag on as Zayn sat alone underneath the dim crystal chandelier. Perrie had been gone for an hour already and Zayn had grown annoyed. The classical music played in the background; an endless quartettes of percussions. The cherry oak wooden dance floor constricted with couples floating and twirling in a similar pattern. All enchanted and glee with the effects of the alcohol. Zayn couldn't help the bitterness of jealousy that spawned within him. The time that he and Perrie had together was limited. She would be leaving the day after tomorrow and already they had wasted one night here. Zayn waved a hand in the air as soon as he caught Perries eye. She held up a hand gesturing for five more minutes. He stared at her deadpan, his annoyance molding into anger. The twitching in his right hand reminding him it had been a while since he had a cigarette. A foul habit he had continuously failed to brake. He stood from the table in a haste to get outside.
"Where are you going?" Louis grabbed his arm.
"I just need a smoke," Zayn said coolly.
"You can't go out there. You'll get mobbed," Louis chuckled.
"Fuck," he cursed under his breath.
"It's crazy out there," Louis added. "Hey, try the roof." Zayn nodded with a sly grin. He trotted up the dim staircase to avoiding seeing people by the elevator. When he opened the heavy metal door, a gust of wind met with his warm skin. He steepened out into the darkness illuminated by the lights. The lights so bright you could hardly see the stats. Zayn gazed up lost for a moment in time and then his eyes flickered to movement at the edge of the roof. A girl, sitting on the ledge leaning forward. Her arms at her side pushing off the bottom. She's going to jump.
Niall's POV
Niall walked around the room alone, every once in a while he would stop and greet some people. As soon as the conversation would dull he would continue his hopeless mope around the grand ball room. Every time he was within a few feet of Gabrielle he would linger close by. Often she would sideways glance at him when she thought he wasn't looking.
"Niall!" He turned towards his name. It was Perrie, she was standing next to him. He forced a smile. "I've been calling you," she giggled.
"Sorry," he blushed. "I was distracted," his eyes flickered towards Gabrielle who was staring at him now. A different expression on her face he hadn't seen in a while. Her eyes were seething, full of jealousy. Niall could feel the joy spreading throughout his body. It's not that he enjoyed her anger but it meant that she still cared for him.
"Niall!" Perrie playfully shouted again. His eyes shot back to Perrie.
"I'm sorry," he laughed. "What's going on, Perrie?" His eyes darted back to Gabrielle briefly.
"This is Lucille Chance," for the first time Niall noticed a tall olive-skinned girl standing beside her. She was gorgeous, about his height, brown lushes curls and full pale pink lips. Nialls lower jaw dropped slightly.
"Nice to meet you, Ms.Chance" Niall recovers as he offered her a hand.
"Likewise," she smirked, the confidence radiating off her. Her eyes boring into his in an intense gaze.
"She's a fan. I was going to introduce her to Zayn but I can't find him," Perrie interrupts their silent encounter. Niall looked back to Perrie braking his eye contact with Lucille.
"I-," Niall begins to say before Gabrielle walks in between them, grabs his arm and pulls at him.
"Excuse us," she says quickly. She pulls Niall into the elevator. Before the doors shut he glances at Perrie and Lucille. Perrie searching the room with her eyes and Lucille staring at him impassively.
The door shuts and within seconds Gabrielle is in front of him crushing her lips against hers. Niall reacts instantly. Instinctively, he pulls her closer to him. His hands exploring her body while her hand runs through his hair. She pulls away as soon as the elevator hitches. She adjust her hair and moves a few feet from him. He says nothing she remains silent. When the door opens a couple if girls walk in. Gabrielle exits and Niall follows her. She continues her silent charade and Niall can't help but play along. He's intrigued. Three doors down she opens a door. Inside is a small study with a desk. One lonely dim lamp on the corner of the desk. Gabrielle turns to look at him. Her eyes burning with desire for him. His eyes mirrors her with the same lust. He reaches her in one stride, pull his head towards her. She pulls of his jacket and unbuttons his white dress shirt. Their lips never parting as he tugs her zipper down. He touches the small of her back with his large hands. She has successfully removed his shirt and is pulling down his pants. Reluctantly, he breaks their kiss to remove his undershirt so he is only in his boxers. He spins her around and slides her dress down. Underneath she wears nothing. Not a shred of intimates. Niall inhales sharply, he wants her and he needs her now. He carries her and places her on the desk. Soft hands trace his abdominals as she stares into his eyes. He removes his boxers wanting her and only her. Slowly, he enters her. As the intensity of the feeling rises so does his paces. She cries out his name and explodes in ecstasy. He hovers over her as he empties into her. Niall removes himself from her, but pulls her close for a hug. Her arms around his waste, her head resting on his chest. Their quick rhythmic breathing in unison. Putting a hand on her chin, he tips it up for a sweet tender kiss.
They begin redressing, both silent. Niall didn't know why she wasn't saying anything but he didn't want to say the wrong. He had a nasty habit of doing that. He opened his mouth to say something.
"That was fun," Gabrielle spoke first. Her back to him as she slipped on her dress. Niall watched her movements, she was graceful. She turned to look at him over her shoulder and he nodded a foolish grin on his face. "Can you?" She gestured to her zipper. Niall pulled it up taking his time. He stiffened he wanted her again. She had always been so intuitive because she moved her body close to him. Her bum moving around his crotch, slowly. "Again?" She whispered and turned to face him.
"Again?" He raised an eyebrow at her. She smiled seductively.
"I can't," she walked around go towards the door. Niall eyes narrowed, but then he couldn't help but grin at her. She was teasing him.
"I can't either. I have to go and talk to Lucille," he moved quickly and swiftly through the door, careful not to touch her, leaving her with her jaw dropped. Two can play at the game Ms.Belcourt, he thought.
Zayn's POV
"Don't jump!" Zayn shouted as he ran towards the girl on the ledge. As he neared her he realized it was the same girl from the balcony. The golden girl turned to look at him with a confused expression. Her frown making Zayn halt in his tracks a few feet from her. "Don't jump," he repeated to her.
"I'm not going to jump, you idiot," she narrowed her eyes and returned her gaze to the city.
"Oh," Zayn manages to say. He was thankful she had her back to him so she couldn't see the crimson tone of his face.
"I'm sorry, he mumbles. He stands there awkwardly stuffing his hands in his pockets. After a few seconds she turns to him again.
"Can I help you with something?" She asks in a harsh tone. Zayn shakes his head silently, his eyes wide with horror. "Well, why are you stalking me?" She arches an eyebrow. No fear on her face.
"I'm not stalking you," Zayn chuckles loudly. "I came up here for a cigarette," he quickly fishes out the lighter and his fresh pack of camels. "You mind?"
She watches him steadily, "no." She turns back to face the view. He ignites his cancer stick and inhales it slowly. He lets the tobacco linger in his lungs before he exhales loudly.
"Can you like go over there? I'm concentrating and you're distracting me," she spat.
"I'm sorry," Zayn shrugged. "I didn't know you owned the building," he added coolly but remained in the same spot. He couldn't tell if it was because he wanted to be near her or just to annoy her. She glanced back at him and rolled her eyes when she realized he was still there. "I've never seen a city so bright. It's hard to see even the moon from here," Zayn spoke absentmindedly.
"When I was a child I use to make wishes off the building windows because I couldn't see the stars," then she made the most beautiful sound Zayn had ever heard. She let out a soft small giggle. He watched her from the corner of his eye. She was starting up at the blackness.
"Aren't you afraid of falling?" Zayn said while letting out a cloud of smoke.
"No," she said in a low voice. "I was raised on a high rise." She still didn't look at him, so he took the time to study her. She had a pixie nose and beautiful pink lips. Excellent poise and grace made her look like a princess. No, a queen but her eyes betrayed her; full of compassion. "What does it matter to you whether I jump, anyhow? You don't know me," this time she did look back interrupting his thoughts. The angry queen reared her head again.
"I just don't think suicide is the answer to the problem," he shrugged casually.
"I wasn't trying to jump," she repeated.
"Sure," he nodded, and she scoffed in anger and return to look outward. "It's a pretty bad fall. I'm not sure the break would kill you though." He walked closer to her to look at the ground.
"I wasn't-" she began to say. "I don't need this," she shook her head and spun around quickly to leave but midway the weight of her dress caught with the brick. She leaned backwards to tug her dress but overestimated her power. She screamed loud in panic of falling of the building but Zayn caught her hand and pulled her to him. Her eyes widened and her breathing became uneven.
"Are you okay?" Zayn lowered himself to look at her at eye level. His eyes scanning her brown ones. The fear slowly leaving her eyes. Then a man busted through the door both she and Zayn turned to look.
"What the hell is going on here? I heard screaming?" It was the guy Zayn had watched her escape from earlier. The man's eyes darted to where Zayn was still holding her hand. She immediately drops her hand to her side. "Vaughn?" He probes.
"Nothing happened, I was sitting on the ledge and I almost fell. That's all," she said to him, fiercely. "This gentlemen caught me." She said without looking at Zayn. Zayn looked to the floor wishing his cigarette hasn't fallen at that moment. The man looked in between the both of them.
"Are you okay, Dear?" The man walked up to her putting his hand possessively on her shoulder.
"I'm fine, Chace," she looked up to him somberly. "Thank you, Mister?" She turned her focus to Zayn.
"Malik, Zayn Malik," he extends his hand and she shakes it.
"Mr. Malik," the angry queen long gone and here before the man, Chace, she is the debutant princess.
"Thank you, Mr.Malik. Lets get inside, Dear," Chace says as he pulls her away inside with him. Zayn remains outside alone, lighting another cigarette, trying to figure out what just happened.
