Working it Out

Chapter 3: Out

Staring in to the mirror in your hotel room, you watched Lou twist your hair around the curler. She was doing your hair hoping that it might bring your smile back. You'd told her everything, poured your secrets out. Confessed to your night with Niall last month...

You'd decided to go to dinner with Harry tonight. He always made you feel happy and like the two of you were all that mattered. He was all that mattered. As your hair fell around your face in delicate curls, you felt a smile return to the edge of your lips as you thought about him. The picture from the airport had shaken you. But what could you do about it? All you could do is hope that it didn't find it's way to Harry.

"There you are beautiful. All spruced up ready for a romantic night on the town!" Lou said as she ruffled your hair one final time, adding a cloud of hairspray.
"Thanks Lou," your smile had returned. You'd put on your favourite black dress and chunky heeled boots. You started to feel like you again.
"Have fun tonight, yeah? No worrying please." Lou squeezed your arms and drew you in to a hug. She rubbed your back. The tears from earlier almost sprung back again. "I will," you managed.
"I always have fun with Harry."
"He's the best," Lou said. "He's worth fighting for." Her and Harry were like brother and sister.

There was a knock on your hotel room door and you got that butterfly feeling you'd been missing. Before either of you could cross to he door, Harry's face had peeped around the door of your hotel room. His eyes and his smile took your breath away even after years of seeing him day in day out.

"Hi my lovely ladies. How are we?" Harry's drawling voice reverberated around the room. He had closed the door behind him and crossed to stand near you, you could feel his heat. He was much taller than you and he leaned down to kiss your forehead, taking your face in his large, strong hands.
"You look beautiful," he whispered to you.
"Thank you," you managed, voice quivering with lust and heat. Your eyes dropped to the floor. He was wearing those shiny boots you loved and it made your smile broaden even more.
"You two need to get a room. Or get out of my room," Lou said, her voice light and full of approval at your love for her best friend.
"Fine. We are getting out of your hair," Harry said, poking his touché out at Lou. He held your hand. "Come on princess, your carriage awaits," he said, kissing your lips this time. He was such a dork. And so handsome at the same time.

Before you knew it, you'd left the room and the pair of you flew down the hotel corridors. Harry whisked you in to the lift and as soon as te doors closed he wrapped his arms around you, his lips finding yours, his tongue parting your mouth, gently but urgently. You felt yourself shiver and tingle in all the right places. His hand found the back of your head, gathering your hair in his fingers. His other hand wrapped around your waist, pulling your bodies together so they pressed against each other. The bing of the doors opening broke your steamy embrace, and you both pulled reluctantly apart, catching your breath. You giggled at each other and you fell against his side as his arm wrapped around you, walking out of the hotel and in to the night.
"It feels like so long since I've kissed you like that," Harry said quietly to you.

An hour later, you'd found yourselves sat in an incredible, small sushi restaurant down a side street. The bright lights and smells were intoxicating. The two of you sat opposite each other on a tiny table, hands intertwined and faces just inches apart. He was making you laugh, you were talking about everything and anything. This was exactly where you wanted to be.
"I love you," you blurted in to a gap in the conversation. You needed him to know.
"I love you too Jos, so much," he replied, drawing you closer and kissing you tenderly. The rest of the world seemed to fade and fall silent around you. His eyes met yours and the shivery tingles returned to your body.

The moment was shattered by his phone that he'd left on the table. The vibrations shuddered the table and knocked his phone in to your glass of water. Both of your eyes fell to the table. Your heart sank with an irrational fear. It could be anyone. It was probably nothing. His large fingers wrapped around his phone, his other hand keeping it's comforting grip on yours. His thumb drew circles on your hand.

"Who is it?" You asked calmly, as if you just wanted to know, desperately trying to keep the panic out of your voice.

"It's just Niall. Apologising for earlier. I don't know what got in to him..." Harry saying his name made you feel nauseous." He says he wants to talk it all through with me. I'd better keep the peace."

You felt your head spinning. Niall wouldn't tell him anything, would he? Maybe he did just want to path everything up?

"Hey, Jos. Everything ok?" Harry's voice broke in to you thoughts. You'd been staring in to the distance.

Suddenly you couldn't keep it in any longer.

"Actually..." You weren't sure what you were doing, or why. The words just tumbled out... "Actually, no. Everything's not ok. There's something I need to tell you..." As Harry's face fell, your heart shattered.

You prayed this would be for the best...
