Moving To England

Chapter Five

*Destiny’s POV*
*Holmes Chapel, Cheshire/Next day/6 pm*

Dad and I drove up to our new house in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England, in the car we rented from the airport. It was 6 in the afternoon by now. Climbing out the car, my palms began to sweat, and my pulse quickened. The feeling of something horrible happening washed over me. Although, as usual, nothing unpleasant occurred, it was merely my imagination running wild and the lack of sleep - or "Jet lag" as Dad said.

My eyes canvased the outside of our new home. It was sitting on the crest of the hill, positioned, staring over the marshes. Its hair was a green ivy, swamping it in a green façade, French windows peeking through the green like mischievous eyes through a long fringe. The house looked almost as if it was natural as it was blended into the green garden by the ivy clambering up its side. The skin of red bricks looked as if they had been burnt by the sun. The garden sloping down steeply down towards the marsh as if it was a pedestal for the house: presenting it in all its grandness. The house was beautifully symmetrical, two wings stretching to each side reaching out to touch the fences on each side. The house positioned over the marshes with a view of the river drunkenly meandering its way to the edge of the horizon.

"Come on, take your suitcase and go find your bedroom, Destiny," Dad called to me. I nodded as I hurried to him to get my suitcase. Carrying it, I went into the house. The inside appeared to be much larger than what one could see from the outside. Leaving m luggage by the door, I wandered around the house.

The floors were a bright shade of red beech wood, the walls' of the rooms were a fresh coat of white. The whole house seemed to be filled with a bright light and joyfulness as if many of the wonderful memories made in here still spread the happy feelings.

“You like the place?” I hear a voice ask causing me to jump in fear.

"Oh my gosh! Dad!" I cried, startled by his sudden voice. "You scared the life out of me."

"Oh God. I'm sorry." Dad laughed.

"Mhmm, whatever." I rolled my eyes, slightly pissed, "And, of course, I liked it! It's so beautiful, despite the walls being a little bit plain."

"Don't worry about that, we are gonna paint these rooms different colours." Dad pointed out.

"Oh, sick!"

"You know, I grew up here. Right in this house."

"Really? It's a beautiful place. If the neighbourhood is just as fantastic as this house, then you were pretty damn lucky, Dad."

"Oh, come on. I was the luckiest. So many great adventures in this neighbourhood. Trust me, you'll love it." Dad smiled brightly, looking around his old home.

"Yeah? I sure hope so." I nodded with a small smile. "Hoping for the best."

"So glad that glad left this place to me. I mean, if I had to buy it on my own. Goodness, that would've been super expensive." Dad added as he ran his finger along the stair handle.

“I never got to see him you know –.” I pointed out but was interrupted by a knock at the door.

“Knock! Knock!”

“Someone’s at the door ... already?” I asked, thoroughly confused.

“Hmm … I guess.” Dad replied with an equally confused look as mine. He went to open the door to whoever is already knocking on it.

Opening the front door, we were met by this red-headed women.

“David!” the lady exclaimed.

“Oh, my goodness! Annie!” Dad shouted, in glee.

'Annie?' I thought. 'Who the heck is Annie?'

“Ah! I missed you so much!” Annie proclaimed, pulling dad into a big hug.

“Hey, hey! Back off lady!” a man with brown hair demanded, coming up behind Annie.

“Oh gosh! Max, my man!” Dad exclaimed, reaching for a hug from Max.

'What is a Max? Oh, my goodness' I thought, again.

“Dear God, is that really you, David?” a blonde woman blurted out, who was speed walking, up to our door, alongside another man with brown hair walked alongside a man with a dark brown hair.

“I told you!” the man with dark brown hair exclaimed, he had a thick Irish accent.

“Emily! Jack!” Dad exclaimed, “Ah! This is a dream come true!” Dad hugged Emily and Jack.

'Emily, Jack, Annie, Max? But why?' I cried in my mind, utterly confused.

“Oh, my is that Destiny?!” Emily asked, looking at me. Then all the adults turned their attention towards me.

'Oh dear God! Please no!' I exclaimed in my head, scared for my life. 'I should run, now! These people seem crazy.'

“Hey, Destiny come over here. I want you to meet my friends.” Dad motioned me over to him. I slowly made my way to him.

'Do I have too?' I wanted to say.

“Mhmm okay." I nodded, with a smile and fear plastered on my face. I came up next to my father and whispered into his ears: "Where did you buy these people. How can you have friends?"

“Ha-ha. Very funny, Destiny, but I'll have to know I was the boom back in my time.” Dad argued.

"Which was what? A thousand years ago?" I questioned him with a smirk, raising an eyebrow.

“Your dad was the hot guy back when we were in high school.” Annie defended him.

“Oh please. Stop. My dad and the word 'hot' don't go in the same sentence together.” I begged her, acting disgusted, causing Dad gave me the death-eye, which I only smiled it off.

“Like father, like daughter,” Jack chuckled.

“We could be twins." Dad smiled, putting his arm around my shoulder.

"No, we could not." I shook my head.

“Any who." Dad rolled his eyes, "Destiny, this is Mrs Cox.” Dad said, motioning to Annie.

"Correction, Miss Cox." Miss Cox pointed out.

"What?" Dad questioned her, confused and slightly angry.

"I'll tell you later." Miss Cox quietly mumbled to Dad.

"Umm, alright." Dad slyly nodded, narrowing his eyes at her. "uh, well, um, okay."

"You know I have a son your age. Oh, you two would probably get along so well." Miss Cox exclaimed.

"We all got a son or daughter around her age," Emily added.

"I am Mr Maxwell." Max introduced himself, followed by the rest of the introductions to each of the adults. Emily was Mrs Bush, and Jack is Mr Miles.

“We should probably let you two settle in now, yeah?" Mr Miles pointed out.

"Yeah, you poor things must be exhausted after that long flight." Miss Cox added, as she pouted and squished my face.

“Jet lag.” I corrected her, this made all the adults laugh for some reason. I really didn’t know what was so funny, but thankfully they quickly cleared the front lawn soon afterwards.

“Alright, Buddy. Let’s take out our sleeping bags and get our much-needed naps." Dad called to me, as we begun setting up our temporary beds in the living room. Immediately, we fell into a deep sleep, which lasted through the rest of the night and into the next.

*Destiny’s POV*
*Holmes Chapel, Cheshire/Next day/1 pm*

We woke up to a banging noise on the door.

"Again?!" I yawned, stretching my arms. Despite the cold wooden floor, I slept like a baby. Although in my dreams my mind wandered off to my old home and life. I just know everything is going to change now, starting with the constant knockings on that damn door.

"Destiny, honey, can you go check who that is, please." Dad slurred his words yawning and stretching as well.

"M-kay." I yawned, as I slugged to the front door. Rubbing my eyes, I swung the door open to be met by bright green eyes, and a curly haired boy. He looked very much like Miss Cox. Didn't look too bad either.

'This must be her son.' I declared to myself.

"Hi, I'm Harry." The boy smirked, "Harry Styles." I guess he saw me checking him out, well he wasn't bad looking, so I shrugged it off.

"Hey, I'm Destiny. Destiny Baker." I smirked back, raising an eyebrow, causing Harry to chuckle.

"Well, my mum, she asked me to bring this for you and your father." Harry smiled, extending his arms to give me the bowl he had been holding.

"Oh, tell her we said thanks." I smiled back, taking the bowl, from his hands. Our hands slightly touched, as I took the bowl from him, not minding too much of it I brushed off the thought. "You don't mind me asking, 'What is this?'"

"No, it's alright," Harry laughed, "Um, it is lasagne."

"Oooh, my favourite." I admired the food, making Harry laugh again. "Thanks again."

"No problem." Harry smiled, leaning against the wall next to the doorway. "Oh yeah, uh, my mum wanted me to tell you that, you and your parents are invited to this party thing my Mum's throwing this Friday."

"Oh cool. I'll tell my Dad." I said with a nod.

"Tell your dad what?" Dad asked, coming up behind me. "Oh, hi there. I am Mr Baker. Destiny's father." Dad said extending his hand for Harry to shake.

"Hello, Mr Baker," Harry said, shaking his hand.

"Now what is it you had to tell me?" Dad asked, again.

“Oh, my mum is having a party on Friday," Harry explained.

“Oh, yeah?” Dad asked.

“Yes, and she invited both of you,” Harry confirmed and continued.

“Tell her, we will gladly crash her party.” Dad smiled.

“I will.” Harry smiled. “Well, I guess I’ll see you around, Destiny.”

“M-kay, Bye.” I smiled and watched him walk off the lawn, toward his house.

“What a heck of a boy he is, eh?” Dad smirked.

“Oh, shut up.” I laughed elbowing his stomach.

“What’s that?” Dad asked eyeing the lasagne.

“Food,” I smirked.

“What type of food?” Dad said, rolling his eyes.

“Good food,” I smirked.

“You have got to be kidding me,” Dad chuckled raising his eyebrow at me.

“It is lasagne.” I laughed. “And it’s all mine.” I jokingly said, putting the food on the counter.

“Oh really,” Dad said, with a devious smile. He picked me up and twirled me around the kitchen.

“Yes, really.” I giggled, once he put me down. We looked around the house. “We are living in an empty house …” I pointed out.

“I know …” dad agreed. “What do we say? Let’s finish up this lasagne and go look for some furniture for this house.”

“Why did grandpa leave us with an empty house?” I asked.

“He sold all his old furniture and left the money to us.” Dad replied, “We are using that money to buy us some furniture.”

“Sounds good to be.” I smiled, “Lasagna time!”
