Moving To England

Chapter Thirty-Nine

*Harry’s POV*
*Continuation*

“I ran away … because … Victor … he was my bully …” Destiny says.

Speechless.

I stared at her expressionless. ‘Who would want to bully, Destiny?!’ I angrily pondered. “Why?” I barked.

“Well, I guess I have to start from the beginning …” Destiny begins. I nod as I listened, “It was the second month of fifth grade …”

*No One’s POV*
*Flashback*

“Today, we have a new student joining us. I hope you children help him find a place in our classroom.” Miss. Green announced, motioning to the new student. “Class this is Victor. Victor Knight.”

“Hello,” Victor said, with a sly smile.

“Alright, Victor. You can take the empty seat next to Destiny. Destiny, please raise your hand, for Victor here.” Miss. Green says, Destiny did as she was told – raising her hand, she gave it a little shake. With a nod, Victors sits next to her, as Destiny turned to give him a warm smile.

“Hello. I’m Victor Knight.” He says in his strong Spanish accent.

“Hi. I’m Destiny Baker.” Destiny smiles at him, giving him her hand to shake. He lets out a rude snort.

“I’m not going to touch you. Gros, just stay out of my way and do as I say … and maybe you may survive.” He winks, just as the bells goes off for lunch. He leaves, laughing at Destiny.

‘What? What did I do to him?’ Destiny thought, stunned.

*End of Flashback*
*Harry’s POV*

“And to this day, I still have no idea why he was such a prick then, and that was, what, six years ago?” Destiny sighed.

“Wow. What an ass.” I commented. “Continue.”

“In the next three years, my life completely changed. I developed an eating disorder, and became anorexic.” Destiny says in shame. I looked at her with gentle eyes. “I also cut myself … but no one, other than myself – of course, knew, except now.”

Hearing her words shocked me. To think this perfect, happy, adorable girl had this in her past. ‘I guess, everyone, has a dark side.’

“I had no friends, because of Victor, I lost them all.” She continues, “Everyday, I went through the same routine, hearing the same insults, feeling the same pain. I was the freak. The fat, ugly, worthless little girl.”

Tears began to roll down her cheeks. Scooching closer, I wiped out the tears. I held her closer, containing my anger long enough to listen.

“Everyone hated me, you know. All the people that once I called my best friends, left me. Of course, then slowly, I began to hate myself. I hated everything at that time, especially school. That same red chair, by the same annoying window, in the back of the class. Most of the time I would daydream, about that perfect life I thought I’d never have. The highest I’ve ever gotten was a B. I mean it was really hard to concentrate when the whole world was against you existent, and no one had faith in you …”

“How about your parents …?” I asked. By now we were both laying on her bed, as she curled up next to me, underneath the covers.

“I never told them. They had this picture perfect image of me – cheerful, popular girl.” Destiny says, lightly laughing at that horribly misunderstood idea, shaking her head. “Plus they were out most of the time. We weren’t always stable. My parents worked two jobs each to keep our head above the water. Probably why I’m the only child. They couldn’t afford the costs of having another child.”

“Well, I wouldn’t blame them. First time I saw you, I thought you were one of those popular happy girls. Kind hearted. Lovable.” I started, but Destiny cut off my compliments.

“Oh be quiet. You did not. You were probably just thinking about how you could get into my pants.” Destiny giggled.

“And that that.” I shrugged, smiling.

“Any who …” Destiny giggled, as I played with her hair. She continued the story, “Throughout fifth grade, Victor tortured me, broke me, and tore me apart piece by piece. Oh, it was so horrible … This one time, it was the sixth grade, I walked into the school, and the first thing I saw was Victor, standing by my classroom door …

*Destiny’s POV*
*Flashback*

“I’ve been waiting for you,” Victor says with a devilish grin, leaning against the wall.

‘Oh no.’ I feared.

“V-V-Victor … um hi.” I stuttered, as I felt my heart pounding in my chest. To my unfortunate luck, the hallways were completely empty, not a soul in sight.

“Bitch, what have I told you about ruining my life?” Victor spat at me, pushing me into the wall.

I was numbed with pain. Victor ran on talking about something I could understand because of the constant zoning out, as I desperately tried to keep the threatening tears. I wasn’t about to him the satisfaction of my tears.

I stood up, just as our eyes met, I felt butterflies erupting in my stomach. For a brief moment, I swear, I saw his eyes full of love. But as quickly as they came, it went away. A wave of sadness washed over me.

“Do everyone a favour and die.” With that, he pushed me into my locker and walked off with his newly made friends.

*Harry’s POV*
*End of Flashback*

“I think he had a reason …” I thought, out loud.

“Reason? What reason?” Destiny questioned me, suddenly angry.

“Maybe he liked you ...” I shrugged. “I mean, who could resist you.” Planting a kiss on her forehead, Destiny giggled at the touch.

“Oh please. If you liked a girl you shouldn’t, and wouldn’t hurt them so harshly.” Destiny explained.

“Boys are different from girls,” I say. “Plus, that’s how Zayn and Mable were at first.” That’s how Zayn got Mable.”

“Wait for what?” Destiny says, her eyes were narrowed. “Zayn bullied Mable at one point?”

“Yeah. Zayn bullied Mabel when she moved into the area … in seventh grade.” I shrugged.

“Did he physically hurt her?” Destiny questioned me. I nodded in reply. “Oh … he is going to get a pounding tomorrow,” Destiny said, tensing up.

I laughed at her. “And I’ll be your bodyguard when you do.”

*Destiny’s POV*
*Flashback*

Deciding to cut class for the rest of the day, I retreated to the neighbourhood park. I sat underneath a large oak tree, crying.

Getting bullied was hard, but even harder when the bully was the one you fell in love with. Without hesitation, I took out my blade. I pressed the cold blade against my bare skin.

SLICE! This one is for being a slut!
CUT! Because I’m so ugly!
SLASH! For my thunder thighs!
SLIT! This is to ensure my death … because no one will miss me!

*End of Flashback*
*Harry’s POV*

“Destiny … love?” I looked at her, worried, as I watched the pearl-shaped tears rolling down her cheeks from her wide luminous eyes. I held Destiny close to me. Suddenly, I felt water forming at the rim of my eyes.

“Harry? Don’t cry. It’s over, or at least I hope it is.” Destiny says, noticing my eyes, she gave me a small smile as she played with my shirt collar.

“I don’t care if it was six years ago. I swear to god, if I ever lay eyes on this ass, I am going to punch the living crap out of him.” I barked, cupping her face.

“I love you, you know that.” Destiny smiles, caressing my face.

“I love you too,” I say, kissing her forehead. “Continue your story. I want to know what happened next.”

With a nod, Destiny continued. “One day, in the seventh grade, Victor just, sort of, started to be nicer to me. Like, he didn’t say anything to me, nor did he hurt me. When he saw me in class, or in the hallways, he would, like actually, like at me. I’m not going to lie … those smiles made my heart melt …”

“Wait, hold up,” I stopped her, “You like that ass …?”

“Yeah …” Destiny nodded, “He was the reason I never actually believe in love.”

“That bastard.” I say, tensing up, “You don’t like him anymore, right?”

“No, Harry. I’m crazy in love with him, that’s why I’m dating you now.” Destiny sarcastically exaggerated, “Of course I don’t. I love you, Harry.”

“Good.” I smiled, as I continued to play with her hair, “Now continue, please.”

*Flashback*
*Destiny’s POV*

Sitting at my desk, next to Victor, in History class, I was relieved that Victor had kept up his whole ‘being kind to me’ streak. Instead of pinching me, or kicking me, he only politely asked me for help. On top of that, he didn’t even copy my work, which was strange since he always did.

‘Something isn’t right … but I’m not about to fix it.’ I thought, to myself.

“Hey, Destiny!” Victor grinned at me.

‘Damnit! I knew this wouldn’t last any longer.’ I thought with great dismay, as I braced myself for the insults and the next patch of bruises that I was about to earn.

“Y-yes?” I stuttered, as he scooted his chair closer to mine.

“Would you like to go to a party with me? This Saturday?” Victor asks, immediately I stared at him in disbelief.

“Me? You want to go with me?” I questioned him, nervously.

He let out a laugh, “Of course you. Who else?”

I pondered on the idea of going to the party with him, for a good minute. ‘Of course, I want to go. This is what I’ve been waiting for … for, like, ever, but now? Now I’m absolutely mortified. What if this is a trick? No! How could someone be that mean?!”

I looked around the classroom, expecting something absolutely, out of the ordinary to happen, but everything was normal.

*End of Flashback*
*Harry’s POV*

“Did you say yes?” I asked. Destiny gave me a nervous nod, as I returned the action with a disapproved look.

“What?! I was young! And in love! Also very curious …” Destiny argued.

I rolled my eyes and laughed. “Okay, what happened next?”

*Flashback*
*Destiny’s POV*

“Sure I would love to go …” I say, giving him a smile. For a split second, his face lit up like a Christmas tree.

‘Could he like me?’ I thought. ‘No, I’m just an unwanted skank.’

“Okay love. I’ll pick you up at 7, wear something nice. Tonight, you’re mine.” Victor says, just as the bell rang. Before leaving the class, he planted a peck on my cheek, causing electricity to run through my body.

*End of Flashback*
*Harry’s POV*

I gave her a look saying, ‘Are you serious, now?’

“Again, young and in love!” Destiny said, defending herself.

I rolled my eyes, “Continue.”

*Flashback*
*Destiny’s POV*

Later that day, Victor asked me to hang out with him. “Destiny! Destiny!” Victor called after me. Shocked, I turned around and shot him a smile.

“Yes?” I asked.

“Would you like to hang out with me?”

“Um … sure.”

“Great! Let’s go to your house. C’mon, we’ll take the bus.” Victor suggested. I nodded, as we left after school, we walked to the bus stop. Victor stayed over for about an hour later when he started to look distressed.

“Destiny, where’s your toilet?” Victor asks me. I pointed to the door next to my room. Moments after he left I heard something fall to the ground. Victor emerged from the hallway, into the living room, minutes later.

“Hey, Destiny … my mum called me, and I need to go home. I had fun, though … I’ll pick you up tomorrow at seven. We’ll talk at school, okay?” Just before he left, he gave me a quick hug.

*End of Flashback*
*Harry’s POV*

“Did you find what fell on the ground?” I asked.

“It was my this cute little blue box of mine. I kept my diary, razors, photographs … and personal stuff.” Destiny nodding, blushing at the last item on her list.

I laughed, understanding what she meant by her girly things. “What happened then?” I curiously questioned her.

“Well, naturally he looked through everything, but I know for a fact the couldn’t go through my journal. I had a lock on it.” Destiny explained.

“Smart,” I commented, flashing her a smile, as she smiled back.

“But, I think it made him angry, ‘cause he started bullying me again,” Destiny says, as her smile dropped into a frown.

*Flashback*
*Destiny’s POV*

I walked into to the school happily, thinking my life is finally going to restore itself. As soon as I saw Victor hanging out with his friends, I walked over to them, happily. “Hey, Victor.” I had smiled at him.

“Look who decide to join?!” Josh, Victor’s friend, sneered at me.

“I …” I started, almost whispering, just as Victor came directly in front of me, anger filling his eyes.

“Did I say you can talk?” The anger in his eyes scared me.

‘What was wrong? I thought we were finally friends … of course … how could I be so stupid!’ I mentally slapped myself, before Victor could, ‘A fat pig like you doesn’t get friends. You don’t deserve it.”

“So Destiny … how have you been?” Victor asked.

I knew fell enough that he didn’t actually care, but I still answered, “Fine.” I lied.

Just as te word spilt out of my mouth, my face came in contact with his gripped fist. I was pushed to the ground, where I was punched and kicked severely, to the point where my vision got blurry, and black spots began forming everywhere … again. The last thing I remember, before passing out, was Victor angry face.

*End of Flashback*
*Harry’s POV*

“Those BASTARDS!” I exclaimed anger raged throughout my body.

“Harry …” Destiny calmly said, resting her hand on my chest, as she moved it to gently caress my face, “It’s alright. It's over now, hopefully.”

“Just continue, please,” I say as I continued to fiddle with her hair. It seemed to be the only thing keeping me from going out to find the bastard and give Victor a piece of my mind, besides the fact that she was right here next to me, of course.

*Flashback*
*Destiny’s POV*

Walking up to an incredibly uncomfortable bed, I turned to my side, as I felt a raging pain, everywhere. I winced at that pain, propping myself up, slowly. Looking around, I realised I wasn’t in my bedroom, but a hospital.

“Hello, Miss. Do you know why you are here?” a nurse asked, as she walked in. I slowly shook my head.

“Well, there was an accident at your school this afternoon. Two boys came to your aid immediately, after the beating you got …” the nurse explained. “The boys who hurt you vanished before the police managed to get their identifications.”

As the nurse spoke, images from this afternoon flashed through my mind. ‘Who were the two boys?’ I thought. ‘Who would want to come to help me? No one liked me …’

“Also, you’re parents, and the two boys are here to see you.” The nurse says.

“Destiny! Baby! What happened?!” Mum cried, pulling me into a hug.

“Are you alright?” Dad yelled, rushing into the room.

“Mum. Dad. Yeah, I'm all right.” I nodded, hugging them back, as I desperately held back the tears. Just then, two boys, my age, walked into the room.

“Diego? Moe?” I questioned, as I stared at the boys I knew from fourth grade.

“We saw you unconscious on the floor … we thought you might’ve crashed into a wall or something …” Diego says, rubbing his arm nervously. He had lied. They both knew exactly what happened. Although, I was very grateful that he did. I’m not ready for my parents to know.

“Can we have some time with her …?” Moe asked my parents, tensely.

Mum and Dad nodded, planting a kiss on my forehead before the disappeared from the room.

Just as they left, a girl came rushing into the room, crying. “Nicki?” I thought out loud. The first friend I had made when I moved into the neighbourhood in second grade. She had run in with a boy, “Sid?”

“I know, I have left you for so long, but I’m sorry. I feel so stupid. You’re my best friend, and I know you won’t forgive me when I left at such a crucial moment.” Nicki cried.

“Nicki. It’s fine. I know I shouldn’t, but I forgive you. I do” I smiled at her, no energy left in me to argue.

“Thank God!” Nicki cried. “I’d probably break down and go to depression trying to get your attention … I love you, Destiny.”

“I love you, too, Nicki.” I smiled at her.

*End of Flashback*
*Harry’s POV*

“… Moe, Diego, Sid, Nicki and I all became close friends after that. The next week, when I was allowed to go back to school. Victor even moved away, since his father’s job forced them to.” Destiny finished, “Everything was perfect since then. But you know, he left me with bad memories of him, I’m not really ready to face him again.”

“Don’t worry baby. I got you.” I smiled at her.

“Thank you.” Destiny smiled at me.

“Alright, kiddos. Enough stories. You guys have school tomorrow. Lights off!” Mrs Baker exclaims, coming into Destiny’s room, before shutting off the lights.
