Moving To England

Chapter Fifteen

*Destiny’s POV*
*At the Ice Cream Parlor/Continuation*

After Elizabeth and I had locked our bikes outside, we strolled into the cute, little ice cream shop and we all slide into a large booth, in the corner of the store, the boys sat on one side, while us girls, sat on the opposite. As we settled in, a young boy with black hair, who looked like our age, came to take our order.

“Hey, Justin.” Ally waved to him with a smile.

“Hi, Ally.” The boy said. “What would you all like today?”

“Our regulars, Justin,” Zayn said, for himself and his friends. Justin nodded, as he wrote it down in his tiny notebook.

“And you girls?” Justin questioned them.

“Same, regulars.” Elizabeth smiled. He nodded again, writing down the orders.

“How about you? You are new here, aren’t you? Destiny, right?” Justin asks me. “Cute name.”

“Yeah … Thank you. I don’t have a regular …” I shyly say as I looked him over.

‘Not bad looking.’ I thought to myself.

*Harry’s POV*

“I know. So, what would you like?” Justin laughed.

“Chocolate?” Destiny said, looking admiringly at Justin.

“Okay. Cone?” Justin asked Destiny nodded as she looked him with bright eyes and gave him a smile.

Watching Destiny study Justin, I could feel my muscle tense, and my jaw began to clench tight together.

‘Why do you even care? She can do whatever the heck she wants to. You have no possession over her, and you certainly don’t give two shits about her. So why are you doing this?’ I tell myself, determined to find an answer better yet a way to get rid of it.

Louis had noticed my tense self, as he placed his hand on my should and giving me the: ‘What the heck is wrong with you?’ look. I slowly calmed down and told him to forget about it

“So, Destiny. Why would you give a little insight about yourself? We don’t know much about you.” Liam started.

“Like what?” she asked, turning her attention back to us.

“Have you ever had a boyfriend?” Mabel asked.

“No,” Destiny shook her head with simplicity.

“Really?!” June, Niall, Louis and Elizabeth asked astonished.

“Yeah.” She nodded in reply.

“Wow … how about your first kiss?” Zayn questioned her.

“Nope.” Destiny shrugged.

“What? How?!” Ally exclaimed.

“I don’t know.” Destiny laughed. The rest of us looked astonishingly at her, who only shrugged her shoulders.

“Umm … so I guess you are still a virgin?” I asked.

“Yeah.” Destiny smiled, nodded. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Not even a peck on the cheek?” Zayn insisted.

“Not even.” Destiny laughed. “If you don’t count my parents of course.”

“Are you um, not to be rude or anything ... Lesbian?” Ally trailed off nervously.

“Oh! God, no.” Destiny laughed. “I just never fell in love or like had a crush before, I mean I’ve found guys attractive, but the feelings never developed any. Further, you know? Plus, seems to me it only leads to heartbreak so why even bother? Also my virginity? I don’t believe in sex before marriage. And my first kiss, I want to be special, place the opportunity for a first kiss never really presented itself.”

“Preach, Destiny, Preach.” Liam chuckled, as so did the rest of us.

“Don’t you think that’s too extreme?” I questioned her.

“No. Not really.” Destiny shook her head, not caring the world what anyone else thought.

‘Strong and independent. Nice belief system as well. Wow.’ I thought.

“So, you like, never had a crush on anyone before Elizabeth asked.

“Nope.” Destiny lightly laughed, just as Justin came with our ice creams.

“Here you go. Ten ice creams cone.” Justin had said, placing our treats in front of us. “Enjoy.”

“Thank you.” Destiny smiled at him.

‘What? Is she doing this on purpose?’ I thought to myself trying to keep myself together.

“You’re welcome.” Justin returned with a smile. “Oh, by the way, my boss, he wants to see you, Destiny.”

“What? Why?” Destiny questioned him, confused, just as the rest of us were.

“Oh, he told me that he knew you since you were born and that he’s your godfather,” Justin replied.

“What?” Destiny repeats herself with a blanket face, not knowing what to say next.

“Ahh! Destiny, my baby.” Justin’s boss exclaims in glee, with arms spread apart as he walked over to our booth.

Destiny stood up to give him a quick hug, with confusion written all over her face.

“I am your godfather, Destiny. My name is Mr William.” The boss pointed out.

“So I’ve heard…” Destiny nervously trailed off.

“You’re frightened aren’t you?” Mr William asked.

“Sort of. Yeah.” Destiny nervously chuckled.

“Well, then I’ll just have to tell you the whole story. Then, you’ll understand.” Mr William declared.

“Do tell us the story.” Liam insisted.

“Oh, I will indeed. This story includes many of your parents as well.” Mr William, mentioned, talking to the rest of us. “More especially your parents, Harry.” Hearing that, I sat up straight, more eager to listen.

Destiny sat back down in front of me, on the opposite side of the booth. Mr William grabbed a chair and placed it in front our booth, and sat down, getting comfortable. Everyone seemed to stop what they were doing and turned their attention to Mr William.

“Alright. This story begins on a typical, summer day. Destiny’s mother and father had come into my ice cream shop, along with their group of friends…” William started.

*No One’s POV*
*Flashback to August 14, 1999*

It was bright, beautiful summer afternoon. The sun was shining brightly, the birds were chirping in a calm delightful manner. The neighbourhood was alive and blooming with all the people walking about, communicating with each other.

Faith Johnson was sitting on her bed chatting away to her best friend, Anne Cox. The two high school friends were talking away about their lives, and everything was so much more different when they first became friends.

Anne had two children, Gemma Styles, who was three years old and Harry Styles, who was a mere 3 months old, with her loving boyfriend Desmond Styles. Gemma was downstairs with her grandparents, and Harry was taking his afternoon nap. Faith was pregnant with her boyfriend, David Baker’s child. David and Desmond were also very close mates.

To the couples’ fortunate luck, their parents had soon come to an understanding mentally towards their daughters and sons situation. They were very supportive and helped make everything as comfortable as possible for them.

As the girls continued on with their conversation, Anne’s father appeared at the door.

“Girls, your boys are at the front door, waiting for you.” Mrs Cox informed them.

“They are? Why now?” Anne whined, too exhausted to get up and go to the door.

“They want to take you girls out, with the rest of your friends.” Mrs Cox explained.

“But I’m not really in the mood. I’m so tired.” Faith sighed, flopping onto her back of her best friend’s bed, rubbing her bloated belly.

“Me, as well. Plus, I have to go pick up Gemma soon, and Harry might wake up.” Anne pointed out.

“Don’t you worry about that. Your mother and I will take care of those two. Also, your other friends’ parents got their children as well, so don’t worry about them as well. They are all going to come here later for a play date for the kids.” Mr Cox insisted.

“Fine. I actually need a day off.” Anne sighed as she got off her bed and stretched her arms. “It could help you too, Faith. Come on, you can’t be the only one who doesn’t go.”

“Alright, then. This best be worth my time, Anne.” Faith warned her, as she struggled to get up.

“Don’t blame me if it isn’t fun. I’m not the one planning, your boyfriend and mine are.” Anne chuckled, immediately, coming to Faith’s aid and helped her to her feet and down the staircase.

“Hello, Love. How are you feeling?” David greeted his girlfriend, as he took her from Anne and planted a sweet kiss on Faith’s cheek.

“I got to be better. But I’m alright.” Faith says returning a loving smile back to her boyfriend.

“You girls ready? The others are waiting outside.” Desmond says, holding Anne.

“You’re going to spend the day with your grandparents. We’ll be home soon, alright Gemma?” Anne says her little girl, as they leave her and the sleeping Harry with her parents.

“Bye-bye, Gemma.” Desmond waved his daughter, planting a kiss on her forehead.

“Bye-bye, mommy and daddy,” Gemma replied as the four friends exited the house.

“Ey! They finally came out!” Max Maxwell cheered upon his friends’ arrival.

“You two, take a very long time.” Julie Green declared as she sat in the car with the door wide open.

“Well, I’m sorry for carrying this baby in my stomach. Did you forget the pain of being pregnant already?” Faith shot back, tired and annoyed.

“Woah! Woah! Calm yourself, honey.” Hazel Dean intruded, rushing to Faith’s side.

“I'm all right.” Faith sighed. “Can we go now?”

“Yes! Let’s go!” Desmon declared.

David helped Faith get into the front seat of his car, as he, then, slipped into the driver’s seat. April Harper and Jack Miles took place in the back seat of his five-seated vehicle.

Desmond started the engine of the car, as his friends piled into his father’s eight-seated automobile. Anne, Julie, Max, Emily Oliver, Adam Bush, Hazel, and Mark Thomas were riding with Desmond.

The two boys drove their friends to their favourite little ice cream shop.

On their way to the shop, the friends chatted away, laughing and discussing different topics.

In this friend group, there were 5 relationships ongoing. Two couples in the group were David & Faith, as well as, Desmond & Anne. Another couple was Julie and Max, they had one daughter, and her name was Elizabeth Maxwell. April and Jack were together as well April was also pregnant. Emily and Adam conceived a baby girl and named her June Bush. Finally, Hazel and Mark even had a little girl named Ally Thomas

Once they got to the shop, they climbed out the vehicles and went into the parlour. The friends settled into their regular booth.

“Hey, Austin. Regulars please.” Hazel asked the waiter, Austin Walker.

“Sure thing. Haven’t you ten around here in some time.” Austin acknowledged.

“We know. This not childless life isn’t that comfortable.” Adam sighed said.

“Your fault you know.” Austin chuckled.

“Yes, entirely their fault.” Faith glared at David.

“How many times do I have to say ‘I am sorry’? You never stopped me, so it’s your fault too.” David declared.

“You guys heard that too, right?” Faith asked the rest of her friends, raising an eyebrow. “I didn’t try to stop him!”

“Alright. Alright. It’s all my fault. Just calm down, it may affect the baby.” David said calmly. Julie placed a hand on Faith's shoulder.

“Calm down.” Julie laughed, and slowly Faith calmed herself down.

“Okay, I am going to get your ice creams.” Austin grinned.

“Uh, I have to go with you,” Desmond said, quickly retreating with him into the kitchen.

“Where is he going?” Anne questioned her friends.

“Got no clue.” Jack shrugged, leaning back, as he threw his arm around April. Anne shrugged it off, and the friends resumed to their conversations. Soon after, Desmon came back to the group, who were laughing and chatting away.

The air in the ice cream parlour was filled with positive vibes. Everyone bore lighted faces. Their smiles are bright and large. The sweet and loving connections between friends and family grew stronger. Everyone was happy. Everything was perfect.

The weather outside continued to reflect the emotions of the friends. This day seemed to feel of joy. Happiness was like a cloudless spring day; the kind of day when one didn’t notice the weather at all, which was exactly the conditions were today. The sky was blue, it wasn’t too warm or too cold. One would’ve stopped to notice the delicate flowers that lined the sidewalks.

Everything was perfect. Today was like ‘happily ever after’ to the ten friends.

Ten minutes later, Austin returned with the group’s orders. Although, instead of giving Anne her own cup, Austin gave Desmond his own ice cream cone and Anne’s cup of ice cream which was sealed with a lid.

“Uhm. Where’s mine?” Anne questioned.

“I have it. I wanted to give it to you.” Desmond says.

“Why?” Anne chuckled.

“Because I needed to tell you something crucial. And I need you to pay attention to me.” Desmond started.

“Desmond, what’s wrong?” Anne worriedly asked. She grabbed on his hands, as he knelt down in front of her.

“I love you, alright. Whatever I do. I do for you. You have you understand. I make so many mistakes. So many stupid things. I need you to forgive me, okay?” Desmond continued, with a solemn look.

“Desmon. What did you do? What happened, baby?” Anne cried, tears forming in her eyes.

“I want you to listen to me okay?” Desmond asked.

“Alright.” Anne nodded, fear and worry running through her veins.

“I was always asked, ‘what type of girl are you going to settle with?’ That took me too long to decide. But when the decision was made, it was that I wanted to marry someone who lets me have a bite of their brownie, even when I said I wasn’t hungry. Someone who laughs at the same things I do.” Desmond started.

“Desmond …” Anne asked quietly.

“Let me finish. Anne, I want to marry someone who kisses my nose on a cold day. Someone who is proud of me whether I earn £5 a week or £5 000 a week. Someone I can tell everything to. Someone I’m not afraid or embarrassed to hold their hand in public. Someone – Someone like you. I want to marry you, Anne.” Desmond says, with a hopeful look on his face, as he took off the lid of Anne’s ice cream cup reliving a beautiful diamond ring.

“Oh my gosh!” Anne exclaimed, cupping her mouth with her hands, tears rushing down her face. The girls looked admiringly at the couple. The boys had a look of approval on their faces.

“Anne, will you marry me?” Desmond asked.

“Oh my gosh! Yes! Goodness, Desmond, a million times yes, I will marry you! I love you!” Anne cried, as Desmond slipped the ring on his new fianceé before they embraced each other in a tight hug.

Moments later, the group was startled with a loud groan.

“Ugh!” Faith cried, holding her stomach.

“Faith!” David exclaimed. Everyone turned their attention towards Faith. Everyone going to happy to worried in a mere 5 seconds.

“The baby is coming, now!” Faith moaned in pain. David began to panic, his pupils and eyebrows widened. Fiddling with his hands and clothes, his heart rate quicken and his breathing increased in speed. Not making proper eye contact, instead of darting his eyes around, he was having the trouble of finding out what to do or say next.

“Calm down, David. It won’t help!” Max snapped at David.

“There is no time to take her to the hospital!” Hazel exclaimed.

“Oh gosh! Clear the booth, let her lay down. This baby is going to born in this parlour.” Anne exclaimed.

“How pleasant,” Emily commented nervously.

“How are you doing?” David asked Faith when he finally found some words to come out of his mouth.

“Oh just wonderful. This baby is killing me, you idiot!” Faith screamed at David in pain.

“Oh gosh …” David nervously cried. “What do we do?!”

“The baby is coming, now!” Faith groaned. Mr William, the store boss, and manager raced out of the kitchen and brought out a blanket.

“I took remedial classes. I can do this, don’t worry. David hold Faith’s hand.” Mr William ordered David, he did have he has told, “Gladly you are wearing a skirt today.” Mr William says to Faith, who was groaning in pain.

“Faith, it’ll be okay. You got this. You got this baby girl, we got...” David whispered into Faith’s ear, clenching her hand.

“Have you ever done this before?” David whispered into Mr William’s ear, questioning him.

“Never.” Mr Willima merely answered, causing David’s face when pale in fear.

“David, mate, you look like you are in more pain than Faith, herself,” Adam chuckled. David glared at him, too nervous, to show his anger.

“Now, Faith, I need you to push.” Mr William directed Faith.

Faith did as she was told, crying and screeching in pain each time. After, several tries the baby finally came out. Immediately, Mr William wrapped the baby in a blanket. While the baby was crying uncontrollably, he carried on with all the necessary steps for a newborn child.

“Well …” David asked, still nervous and clenching on to Faith’s hand, who was now sitting upright.

“It is a baby girl.” Mr William’s announced a big eruption of applause spread out across the entire shop.

“Can I – Can I hold her?” David asked, tears forming in his eyes. All the pain and fear washed away from both the newly made parents as they looked at their newborn.

“Of course.” Mr William nodded, as the baby girl was given to David, who carefully held her close to his heart.

“Oh, my God. This is a baby. This is my baby. She’s beautiful. She’s beautiful, Faith. Look. Look at what I made – I mean, us, we. Look, Faith, look.” David happily cried, as he planted a kiss on his daughter’s forehead.

Mr William’s gave the baby to David, who was sweating with nervousness, he was smiling with great joy. As if all the problems of the world was solved, everything was perfect. He looked at his baby girl to see the most adorable girl in his entire life. He swelled with amazement and excitement until his mouth could stretch no longer. Tears escaped his eyes, as he gave the baby to his girlfriend.

Taking the child in her hands, Faith stared at her admiringly, with a long grinned stretch from ear to ear and tears escaping her eyes like waterfalls. The overwhelming feelings of love ached her heart. The agonising pain she experiences just a mere minute or two ago escaped her so quickly and was replaced with instant happiness and joy.

Just as the two new parents thought they couldn’t love one person more than they did now, this moment proved them wrong beyond imaginable.

“What are you going to name her?” Emily asked, smiling.

“I think … I think I’ll name her … uh.” Faith thought, just then Faith saw a quote on the wall that read, ‘I am the master of my Faith and the captain of my Destiny.’ “Destiny! Can we name her Destiny, David?”

“I love it!” David laughed, kissing his girlfriend’s forehead.

“Today is absolutely a beautiful day,” Anne declared, resting her head on Desmond, hugging his arm. Desmond wrapped his arm around Anne. David held Faith who held Destiny. The rest of the couples cuddled next to one another, followed by a few moments of peaceful silence.

“It has been perfect.” Faith smiled, looking down at Destiny and then at all her friends, finishing with David.

*Harry’s POV*
*Back in present time*

“Wow, you attention stealer.” I laughed, teasing Destiny.

“That’s what you get out of this, you buttface. Plus, It’s not even my fault. Who eats ice cream when they’re pregnant?” Destiny shot back, smiling with her mouth, cheeks, and eyes.

“There is no rule against that. Don’t you listen during health class?” Ally asked, laughing.

“Does it look like I do?” Destiny questioned her back, raising an eyebrow.

“Okay, how about the part where Destiny is named after a quote?” Elizabeth pointed out, giggling.

“I know right!” Destiny added on.

“At least it was a good one.” Liam laughed.

“Oh, and your mother was pregnant before marriage, with you. Yet, here you are saying you don’t believe in sex before marriage.” Niall chuckled.

“Oh, no. Destiny’s mother didn’t believe in sex before marriage either. Destiny’s father had practically begged her, even though she said yes, she still tried to avoid it at all costs.” Mr William chuckled.

“Well, then.” Mabel laughed.

“Wow.” Destiny commenting with a light chuckle.

“Hah! I am the oldest, and Mable you are the youngest.” Elizabeth smiled cheerfully.

“Oh be quiet.” Mabel elbowed Elizabeth, giggling.

“Wow … we learned a lot today …” Zayn chuckled.

“Yeah … I need to have a serious damn talk with my Dad.” Destiny declares shaking her head in disappointment.

“Oh, Destiny, I have seen your father b. What happened to your mother, though?” Mr William asked.

“Oh she is in Spain, my grandma ain’t well,” Destiny said.

“Oh, that’s sad to hear.” Mr William said.

“RING! RING!” Destiny’s phone rang, with her ‘Once Upon A Time’ theme song blaring at full volume.

*Destiny’s POV*

I pulled out my phone to see that Dad was calling.

‘Why is he calling now? It’s not that late, is it?’ I thought.

“Hello?” I said into the phone receiver.

“Hey, Destiny. I just wanted to let you know that your mother’s home.” Dad said.

“Really? So soon?” I excitedly said. “Okay, I am coming.”

“Alright, honey, see you,” Dad says, and with that, I cut the line.

“I have to go, my mom came back from Spain. It has been a month since I have seen her, sort of excited.” I quickly told everyone as I got up and shoved my phone back into my pocket.

“Oh okay. We will see you soon then?” Harry asked.

“Yeah.” I nodded.

“I am coming with you,” Elizabeth said. I nodded. We ran outside and jumped onto our bikes and raced to my house.
