“This…right now…it feels right though.” Harry slurred, staring up at the ceiling as if in deep thought.

Nora felt her cheeks flush and earnestly hoped that he wouldn’t be able to see her under the slight light that was coming through the window from the street lamp outside. She didn’t know how to react to something like that. What does she say? What does she do? And most importantly, how does she stop this stupid fluttering feeling in her stomach?

So, she decided to do the thing she’s best at: ignoring.

She ignored his words and steered the conversation in a completely different direction. “What are you thinking?”

He sighed in reply, knowing full well what she had done. He closed his eye and whispered, “I’m trying to pretend like this stupid ceiling is a beautiful pitch dark sky, studded and illuminated only by little, sparkly stars.”

Nora chuckled as she stared at the blank, white ceiling of Melody’s bathroom. This place had to be the least conventional room in the entire house. Yet this boy had enough imagination in that curly head of his to come up with something like that.

“Let’s do it, Nor.”

“Do what?” She asked in confusion.

“Pretend. Let’s pretend.” Nora could tell that he had turned to look at her from the fanning of his hot breath against her cheek. “Let’s pretend to be someone else. To be somewhere else. Just for tonight.”

Nora found herself turning to look at his eyes but it was impossible in this darkness. She was lost for words again. What did she say? It sounded dangerous and exciting at the same time. Pretending to be someone else; that meant she could do whatever she wanted to, just for tonight. She could pretend to be a completely different person if she wanted to.

All she had to do was say yes....
