All eyes turned to Harry and I as we finally made our way into the hall. He followed me in a few seconds later, and judging by the curious look on Callie’s face as she stared at the two of us.. I can only imagine what Harry’s looks like.. probably something from a cocky smirk to an annoyed scowl at my stubborness.

Everyone was there, sitting at one of the big tables that had teenagers dancing on only an hour ago. Now it had a group of people sitting around it, who couldn’t stand to be near each other for a few minutes without going death match on each other. Speaking of death match, I didn’t miss the glare I got from Alyssa when I walked in with Harry. I can’t believe her. Here we are, trapped in a school with god knows who cutting people’s throats up, and she’s jealous.

The teachers and principal Miles were all standing around it, Callie, Niall, and Liam were all sitting on it, Alyssa and Perrie were sitting in the chairs a few feet away from everyone, and I saw little Wes deciding which seat would be the safest to sit on. Mr. Clark turned to us as we got closer to the group.

“Where’s Dax?” Harry asked immediately, once he scanned the room of people.

“I’m here.” Dax’s voice came from behind us. He was sitting in a corner with a cloth pressed against his forehead.

I saw Harry relax once he spotted his brother, and as much as I hated myself for it, I found myself warming up to him. Whenever I see the human side of Harry, the side that isn’t all jokes and sex, and actual caring.. it throws me back. Almost like an elephant charging at a wall. This elephant was trying to break down my ‘Harry is a vile cretin’ wall. The only time I actually saw the elephant though, was when it came to his brother.

I walked over and took a seat next to Callie, ignoring her questioning stare as to why I ran off with Harry.

“We have a big problem.” Principal Miles spoke up.

“No shit sherlock.” Niall scoffed and shook his head. Apparently the whole ‘respect’ rule was out of the window due to the situation we were in. Miles gave Niall an amused look, to which Niall just smiled back to.

“What the hell is going on? Who killed those people?” Perrie asked, her voice was shaky but I could tell she was trying to stay calm.. which is more than what could be said about her master.

“We’re going to die!” Alyssa cried, “We are trapped in this godforsaken school, and we are going to die!” I locked my jaw shut as I listened to her high pitched whines. Perrie started rubbing her back to calm her down, and then she turned back to the teachers standing in front of us.

“The person that put the locks on the doors.. is that the same person who killed those people?” Her voice was quiet, and I mustered up some respect for her. She was trying to act rationally.

“We’re caged! Just like animals!” Alyssa cried again, I grit my teeth and faced her.

“So help me god if you do not shut up, I will gut you like an animal.”

Callie snickered and just as Alyssa was about to say something, Perrie stepped in front of her, and told her it wasn’t worth it. I was actually impressed, normally she wouldn’t dare speak unless spoken to around her leader, let alone tell Alyssa what’s best for her. I might actually like this girl.

“Well it’s obvious whoever put those chains on the doors is the one killing people.” Harry commented, Liam stood up and started pacing across the room.

“I don’t get it though, how could someone manage to chain up three doors in such a short amount of time? It had to be after everyone left when the person did it, and just before we left the main hall. That was like what.. ten minutes? If that?” Liam wondered out loud.

I shook my head coming up with the best and most reasonable answer, “He probably had two of the doors already locked up, then once everyone was out the front door, he chained that one up too.”

“Those kids upstairs-” Harry commented, “Probably were pre-occupied and didn’t know these loons showed up-” He gestured towards the adults and they all had an offended look on their face, “Or they tried to get out from the other exit, but were too late.”

“Why though? Why do this?” Dax questioned, looking around the room to see if anyone had the answer.

“Someone who’s obviously watched too many Saw films.” Niall replied, “I mean seriously, this is like the second one where they got locked in the house and shit. Check the back of my neck to see if there’s a number on it.” He said to Callie, in return she rolled her eyes and slapped him on the back of the head.

“It’s just some psycho, and we were in the wrong place at the wrong time, thanks to you two and your stupid flirting.” Alyssa whined, pointing at me and Harry. My mouth dropped open at her comment, and Harry threw his head back in laughter.

“Excuse me? When is violence ever a type of flirting?” I questioned, not quite believing she was accusing me of flirting with him. We were attempting to beat the hell out of each other. Sure she has the right to say we were the last one’s left because of it, but I will not have her make such revolting assumptions.

I can handle being the reason we were trapped in the school where we will meet our possible end, what I will not take however is being accused of flirting with Harry Styles.

“Oh please, you two are one more slap away from getting pregnant.” She scoffed.

“Coming from you?! You had his penis in your mouth twenty minutes ago!” I almost screamed back.

“How can I get pregnant?” Harry asked, baffled.

“Enough! This isn’t about who’s getting pregnant and what was in someone’s mouth!” Mr. Clark interrupted our bizarre argument. Alyssa crossed her arms over her chest and sank back into the chair, pouting. At least she stopped crying.

“Whoever is doing this, clearly wanted us trapped here.” He continued, “I don’t think this is some random psycho. He planned this, and the chains on the doors and the phone signal crashing prove that.”

My mouth was slightly open while I processed everything he just said. He was right though, whoever was doing this planned for us to be trapped. I mean, what are the chances of some psycho wandering about with a knife in hand and just so happens to stumble into a school where a bunch of misfits are throwing a party.

“Why though? Why would someone want to kill us?” Callie asked, “What have we done to anybody to make them want us dead?”

Niall snorted, “Well if we’re going to go there, then we could be here awhile. We aren’t exactly the friendliest of people.” Harry and Liam looked at Niall with raised eyebrows and a slightly entertained look on their faces, “I mean I can name ninety percent of the school that wants your head on a silver platter for turning our school into a military camp.” He directed to principal Miles.

“He has a point man, you have pissed off a lot of people.” Harry backed Niall up. Miles looked like he was a deer caught in headlights at the two’s comments.

“I am the head of the school! People expect me to be strict.” He defended.

“Yeah, but you don’t have to be such an asshole about it.” Liam cut in.

Ms. Roberts shook her head, seeming lost in her own thoughts, “If that were true though, how would they know that he’d be here tonight?” There was silence as people took her question into consideration. She raised a good point though, the Pinegrove Party has been going on un-crashed for years now, how could someone know that the principal would show up tonight?

“She’s right,” Dax said, “If this was really all about you, why not kill you at your house or something?” Again there was silence because everyone knew he was right. This wasn’t just about principal Miles, I don’t know why someone trapped us in this school.. but it was not just for him. It doesn’t make sense.. then again, nothing about this shitty Friday the 13th remake made sense.

“You realize, this may not be down to just you, but you probably will be the first one to get killed off.” Niall said to Miles, almost everyone’s eyes in the room widened at his words.

“Niall Horan!” Mr. Clark scolded.

Niall threw his hands up in defense, “I’m just saying, it’s a pattern. It happens in every horror movie.”

“Will you shut the hell up about horror movies? Seriously, for such a manwhore, I would have expected you spending more time playing outside than watching TV.” Callie snapped. He turned to her and shrugged, probably not the reaction she was going for.

Casually, Niall reached out and took Callie’s snapback off of her lap and put it backwards on his head. I narrowed my eyes at the small action, not really knowing why I spotted it. I think it was because of Callie’s reaction.. she didn’t have one. She acted like it was completely normal.

“The amount of ‘films’ I’ve invited girls to watch. Depending on the quality of the girl, you actually find yourself watching the movie.” Niall smirked.

“You must have high standards for girls then, judging by your movie knowledge.” Callie scowled.

Niall was full on smiling now as the two had some playful banter going on, “Actually, I’m a quantity type of man, not really the quality type.” Callie stared back at him, she looked like she was getting ready to slap the smile off of his face at any given second. “As I was saying, if this plays out like it does in the movies, the teachers are the first to go.”

“Yeah, the teachers or the whores.” Liam added.

“Tough luck Alyssa.” I said before I could stop myself. She turned to me with her mouth hanging wide open.

“I am not a whore!”

“Would you lay your hand on the bible on that?” I tested.

“So what does that make you then, the lesbian?” She snickered.

I turned to Niall, “Are there a lot of lesbians in horror movies?”

“That depends on what section of the shop you buy them from.” Harry cut in, the three of us began laughing.

“Well if she’s not the lesbian, she’s probably the Virgin Mary who plays innocent all the way through. You’ll probably be the one to survive, just like your hymen has for so many years.”

Harry’s hyena laugh belted through the hall, it was so loud and unexpected that even Mr. Clark jumped. He walked over to Alyssa with his hand raised in the air.

“High five me, that was brilliant! Especially for you.” Alyssa looked a little offended at the statement, but she did what King Harry said, and high fived him.

Surprisingly I didn’t take offence to that comment like I should have. Though, I did just now figure something out. Over the past few weeks Harry has been calling me ‘little Mary.’ I had no idea where that came from, because he never told me when I asked. I thought there wasn’t much meaning behind it, which is why I started calling him Archie.. which commonly has the nickname dick. I guess that he was referring me to the ‘Virgin Mary.’

Harry honestly thought I was a virgin? I’m kind of surprised, I thought he knew I wasn’t. Apparently though, I found this hilarious because I couldn’t help myself from laughing. Harry and Alyssa noticed my reaction and turned their heads towards me. I plastered a genuine smile on my face and began clapping my hands together.

“Well done, I’ll give you that one. You actually out-bitched me.” I said, and she looked furious at my statement.

“Is there any way we can have a conversation without anyone taking cheap shots at each other every other minute?” Mr. Clark asked. I gave him an apologetic smile and Alyssa began to pout again for being told off.

“How could he mess with the phones?” Perrie spoke up, getting us back on topic, “I mean, how did he get the signal to go? We all have different networks and it’s not like he messed with our phones individually.”

I was surprised with her. She was actually asking valid questions.. she was actually a decent human being. I suddenly had the urge to run over to her, pull her from Alyssa and scream ‘YOU CAN BE SAVED’ in her face, before I attempt to reverse all the brainwashing Alyssa has done on her.

“They might be using a scrambler.” Wes spoke up. Everyone turned their heads in the direction to the ginger kid who has been quiet up until this point.

“A what?” Harry asked him, walking closer to where he was.

Wes’s eyes nearly popped out of his head when Harry spoke to him. I saw him swallow hard, and one of his hands began to fumble with the hem of his shirt.

“A scrambler. It’s a cell phone jammer. It’s something you can buy that messes with the service of all mobile phones within an vicinity.”

“That must cost a lot.” Harry commented.

“Not really, you can buy them for like thirty dollars from a pawn shop.. Oh and they can also be downloaded as an app.

“How do you know this stuff?” Dax asked, clearly impressed with Wes’s knowledge.

He was about to reply when Alyssa spoke up for him, “Look at him, do you really need to know the answer to that?” His eyes darted to the ground, not daring to reply to Queen Chlamydia’s comment.

I looked at her, and pure rage filled my body. I was about to shoot some more insults at her until someone beat me to it..

“So because the kid is smart, something is wrong with him?” Dax questioned, his eyes were icy and glued to Alyssa. Her face falls as Dax addresses her. Everyone knew how messed up Dax was and I don’t think Alyssa has ever said one word to him.. well, I don’t think Dax has said one word to her. If it was up to her, she would gladly be on her knees for him so fast, that if you blinked you would miss it.

“No.. I- I didn’t mean- he,” She was literally stuttering and it was hilarious. I have been trying to offend her and get this type of reaction from her for years, yet Dax did it with one sentence.

“That’s what I thought.. just because you would have to smash him in the head with a hammer to beat him at scrabble doesn’t give you the right to be so rude.” Dax was so composed, but so cold and furious at the same time. I was laughing in disbelief with what he just said to her. Harry’s laughter was loud.. it was so loud that I’m sure the psycho could hear it. Wherever he was in the school, I’m sure he knew exactly where we were now.

I saw the corner of Wes’s mouth twitch up into a smile. He was probably more surprised than I was that Dax had stuck up for him, especially because he never talked to him once before this.

Dax finally turned back to him, “Anyway, how do you know all of this again?”

Wes’s face still had a shadow of a smile on it, and now with more confidence he spoke, “My dad works in electronics, he’s taught me some things.” He clears his throat and speaks up again, “Plus, I kind of play a lot of xbox.”

Dax gave him a faint smile and nodded his head, the respect he now had for him was clear on his face. In a weird way, I think Dax found him to be like himself. Wes was an outcast, an outsider if you must. Other people judged him before they knew him. Wes was probably picked on and used as a punching bag everyday, whereas Dax was completely avoided in the hallways and nobody made eye contact with him because of the chance of setting him off. It was two different kinds of outcasts, but overall the same thing.

“So basically the phones are screwed then?” Harry asked, and Wes simply nodded.

“Unless the scrambler he is using gets turned off or destroyed, they will be no good.” He added.

“What a bunch of balls then.” Harry said, shaking his head.

“Well then there’s no use in calling the cops.” Callie told Miles.

Principal Miles rolled his eyes at her and walked up to Wes, “What about landlines? Does the scrambler affect those too?”

“No, only cell phone signal, landlines as well as computers should be fine.” Like a three year old, principal Miles turned back towards Callie and stuck his tongue out.

“Well I have a landline and a computer in my office. If I can get back there I’ll send an email or something.”

Wes didn’t look too confident at the principal’s plan, “If he’s gone through the effort of messing with the cell phones, wouldn’t he have thought about the landlines and computers too?”

Principal Miles debated this for a while, and judging by his sigh, he doesn’t seem too confident with his plan either, “It’s worth a try.. maybe he didn’t think of it.”

Mr. Clark nodded his head, “It is worth a try. I mean, what other option do we have?”

Harry scoffed, “We could cut the bullshit and smash a window then run for our lives.” I agreed with him.. it is very unlikely whoever’s doing this didn’t tamper with the landlines and computers. He went through all that trouble messing with the phones and chaining up the doors to make sure we stay put, I’m sure he wouldn’t make such a careless mistake.

All the teachers looked nervous in a way, exchanging weary glances. I knew then something had to be up.

“What?” Harry pressed.

“Breaking a window won’t do any good.” Mr. Clark confessed.

“Why not?” He almost growled at him. I could tell none of us were going to like where this was heading.

Mr. Clark sighed and looked anywhere but Harry’s face, “At the beginning of last year, due to a high amount of vandalism, when the school was getting refurbished, the windows were reinforced.”

The sound of eight jaws hitting the floor echoed through the hall. We all stared between the teachers, while they kept their eyes locked on the ground.

“Reinforced?” Harry repeated, his voice was almost straining from anger.

Mr. Clark nodded, “The widows were getting smashed every other week, as well as the doors. The board decided that they would save a lot of money if they just made them stronger. There’s no way you will be getting through a window unless you drive a car through it.” Harry’s fists were clenched and his face was turning red, I don’t think he will be holding his anger in for much longer.

“I guess my military camp statement wasn’t so farfetched now, was it?” Niall said, fixing the snapback on his head with an ‘I told you so’ look on his face.

“Well that is just brilliant! We’re completely fucked.” Harry yelled at the teachers, and surprisingly none of them reacted to his tone of voice, “If they had been reinforced and unbreakable, why did you have us go from from room to room checking for smashed windows?”

Mr. Clark had no answer so principal Miles spoke up, “We didn’t want to panic you all. Plus, a window can be broken, it would just take a lot. So there was a possibility, it was just very unlikely.. and the reason we didn’t tell the students, is because some schools have tried it and the kids parents would complain about their children being treated like prisoners. Well I’ll tell you what, they wouldn’t get treated like prisoners if they didn’t act like criminals.”

I balled my fist at the idiot, “Well I guess it all worked out then.”

“Yes Mia, it looks like it did-” Harry replies to my comment sarcastically, “-as long as vandalism rates are down and they can save a few extra pennies then it’s all fine right?”

Principal Miles didn’t look at either of us. He stood there with his arms folded over his chest, and his bottom lip out. After a minute or two he regained his composure, “No, I am going to my office to try the landline or computer. I’m sure one of which will work and I will get us help.”

Nobody was excited, and nobody had faith in this plan. We were all stewing in our own anger because they failed to mention earlier that there was absolutely no way out, and we were trapped like dogs. They might as well should have just put metal bars on the windows to make it clear the school was being renovated into a jail.

“You can’t go on your own sir.” Ms. Roberts told him, and no matter how much of a prick this man was, she was right. If he walked out there alone, he was as good as dead. He wasn’t exactly the youngest specimen of a man, and I couldn’t picture him running down the hallway for his life without his heart packing in.

“She’s right, one of us needs to go with you.” Mr. Clark added. Before the decision who was going even started, Harry spoke up and made the decision for everyone.

“All three of you can go.” He said. “From the looks on everyone’s faces, it would be best before we line you up and take turns slapping each of you.”

The teachers didn’t reply right away, instead they turned to look at the rest of us. When they realized Harry was right, all of us were pissed that they sent us on a wild goose chase earlier, plus their stupid prison move is the reason we were so screwed that we could give a pornstar a run for her money.

“I think one of us should stay here-”

“We will be fine.” Harry replied, “There are more than enough males here if anything does happen. Actually, there are a few girls questionable to the actual girl part.” I rolled my eyes at his stupid comment, “So go on, I’m sure we will manage without an adult here.” The sarcasm was practically dripping out of his mouth, and nobody disagreed with him.

So again, there was a moment of silence and then Mr. Clark nodded his head.. “Stay here, and don’t leave. Stay together if anything happens.” Harry nodded and they all headed for the door. Even though I was pissed beyond belief at them, I couldn’t help but worry.

“Wait!” I called out. They all stopped and faced me. I jumped off the table, ignoring everyone’s curious stares and I grabbed one of the vodka bottles.

“We are not taking a round of shots Elliot.” Principal Miles scolded. I looked at him dumbfounded, I can’t believe he thinks I would actually want to take a shot with him.

I rolled my eyes and turned my head away. Lifting my arm up, and quickly bringing it back down, the bottle smashed on the edge of the table and the liquid spilled everywhere, including all over my shoes. There were sharp edges left and I smiled to myself for coming up with such a brilliant plan.

I walked over to Mr. Clark and gestured for him to take the bottle, “You should have something to shove up his ass while you’re out there.” I said and he mustered up a small smile, before taking the makeshift weapon from my hand.

“Thank you,” He said with a nod, “Stay here, all of you. I mean it.” He said and before we knew it, the three of them were out of the main hall.

“Well that was more awkward then the time my mother caught me masturbating to a Martha Stewart magazine.” Niall said.

And despite my nerves being at an all time high, I found myself laughing at Niall’s comment. That’s all I ever seem to do around him.

Notes

I am honestly cracking myself up with these jokes throughout the chapter :'D
