Little Lady// LT

Chapter 1

Chapter 1
I pulled on my boots and looked at my outfit once more. I guess this is presentable enough for being out in public. I don't have work today but I'll probably end up outside anyways. I like to draw outside. I made sure that I had my iPod in my back pocket before heading downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and Charlotte was eating her fruit-loops one at a time, apologizing to each of them before eating them. Mike was sat with a cup of coffee and a newspaper.
"Char! Just eat them properly!" Mike snapped. She looked up, offended.
This girl is 14 for Christ's sake!
"Dad! These are Fruit Loops! You can't just eat them like Cheerios!" she argued. I rolled my eyes and went straight to the fruit bowl. I got an apple and began to nibble on that. Then Fiona walked in.
"Oh my gosh! You're ready before me!" she joked, directly to me. I gave her a weak smile so she continued talking. "Stop eating! Or you won't be hungry later!" she warned me.
Bitch.
"Today, we are going shopping!" she sang. Oh no. Don't get me wrong! I love shopping! Just not with her. I know that sounds harsh but she makes me try on anything and everything, makes me buy stuff that I wouldn't wear if I was paid to, we have completely different styles and then she wonders why I don't like shopping with her.
"Ohh! Even me?!" Charlotte squealed. "Yes! We're having a fancy dinner tonight! We're going to buy nice, posh dresses and then there's a big surprise!" she claimed, getting over excited. "Ohh! What's the surprise?!" Charlotte demanded.
"Char, if we told you then it wouldn't be a surprise" Mike interrupted.
"Your Father's right! Anywho!! We're leaving in about an hour so that we'll have plenty of time to get ready!" Fiona clapped happily and Charlotte continued asking questions as I struggled to finish my apple.
"Is it just us?" she asked instantly. "No! An old friend of mine, Johanna, and her family are going to be there! And her son's friends!" she sighed dreamily. I gave up and threw my almost finished apple in the bin.
"Does she have daughters?" Char asked shyly.
"Yes! Ironically, she has a daughter who is about your age called Charlotte! But they call her Lottie!" she claimed. Char began squealing like an insane retard so I tried to escape the room. "Not so fast Kathy! I think you might like her son! He's very handsome and charming! You need to get out and meet new people more often honey! We're going to find you the perfect dress!"she exclaimed over Charlotte's constant screams.
"You make it sound like it'll make a difference" I muttered.
"Oh it will! First impressions are really important!" With that said, she glanced over her shoulder at Mike, who was smirking down at his newspaper. I frowned for a moment and turned to leave again.
"Be back in here at one!" she called out to me as I walked off. I waved over my shoulder and stalked up the stairs. ~~~~~~~~Skipping the shopping and preparing. Going straight to the dinner cuz I can't be arsed to explain how boring the trip was. ~~~~~~~~
I quickly fixed my hair and then looked at myself in the long mirror. It was OK. Not perfect but the dress didn't show my fat and the outfit covered my scars so it was OK. I sighed and then realized something. Where was I gonna put my iPod? I grabbed a clutch and then decided that I would hold it unless I was told to put it away. Which I found kinda unlikely. I looked at the clock and saw that I had five minutes until we had to leave. We were gonna leave the house at quarter to seven to we had lots of time to get there. I doubled checked everything, then triple checked my laces were done up because it would be just my luck for them to be untied so I fell over. I turned on my iPod and put on Little Lady by Ed Sheeran, with only one head-phone in as I crept down the stairs. I don't like wearing heels, let alone ones like these, but Fiona insisted that I needed to look a bit taller than I am. I don't see why I should, it's not like I need to impress anyone. I made sure my clothes were straight before entering the kitchen and then sat down immediately. Mike looked over Fiona's shoulder causing her to turn around. They both gasped at the sight of me but I didn't care.
"Oh baby!" Fiona's hand flew over her mouth and she looked genuinely shocked. "You look gorgeous!" she claimed. I just shrugged and glanced over her. "You look really nice" And for once I'm not having to lie.
Mike was in the average black suit with, white shirt and black tie. Nothing special. Then Charlotte pranced in looking like a mini princess. I gave her a proper smile and then Fiona started crying.
"My girls are growing up so fast!" she wailed. "Oh! My make-up!" Mike immediately picked up a box of tissues and got a few out for her. I guess he had presumed she would cry at some point. She quickly clean herself up and looked at us both.
"You both look amazing" Mike commented, holding his wife close as she calmed down. "Thank you. You all look great" I replied, loud enough to be heard over Fiona's sobs. She was just sobbing now, no tears just sound.
"Thank you! I picked this dress as well!" Char gave out no compliments but we weren't expecting her to. She's never been one for giving out compliments. Little Lady ended so All Night Long by Demi Lovato started. I love Demi, she's the best singer I have ever heard. No question. I inwardly smiled, it's such a funny song. I love it.
"Let's go!" Fiona finally lifted her head and sighed loudly. She looked pretty good seeing as she'd just been crying. Only red eyes, no red nose, rosy cheeks or smeared make-up. Lucky. We were rushed out of the door and then into the car. A Rolls-Royce. This family is rich, seriously. Char almost got a pony for her birthday once, but I talked them out of it because she wouldn't look after it. They all talked cheerfully as the drive progressed but I just put in my other ear-piece and listened to music, ignoring them - as usual. I sighed when we reached the place. It was as fancy as I'd expected. Even as we clambered out of the car, I felt out of place. This dress, this building, this situation. Worry was trickling down my spine and settling casually in my stomach as we entered the restaurant. I pulled on the hem of my dress subconsciously as we walked and the worried feeling seemed to be getting worse, but I had no explanation as to why. The others all linked arms and chattered happily whilst I lagged behind on my iPod with my head down. I wasn't planning on changing that but, of course, they had other plans.
"Jay! It's been too long!" Fiona claimed, loud enough for me to hear over my music. I raised my head slowly to see her approaching a pretty woman. They embraced for a moment and began talking low enough for The Fray to drown out their voices. I took my fringe out from behind my ear and let it fall in front of my face. I was constantly changed the song for something to do but when I changed it to Look After You, someone began tugging on my arm. I lifted my head slightly again to see it was Char. I pulled out one ear-piece so she could speak.
"We're going to meet Jay's kids and her son's friends. They're closer to the back for some reason so c'mon!" she insisted, pulling gently still. I put the ear-bud back in and followed her slowly. She was moving quickly so I easily got quite far behind. If I wasn't sure where to go then I'd turn down my music and follow the noise. But I could still hear it over The Fray's melodies. I eventually gave up and turned it off, there was no point having it on if I couldn't hear it. I didn't put my iPod in my clutch because I was sure that I might need it soon. The worried feeling seemed to be expanding and taking up more space than I had in my stomach, creepy. I lifted my head properly when I knew that they were only a few steps away.
"Kathy!" Fiona greeted me loudly. I glanced at her innocently so she grabbed my arm and pulled me towards a group of people.
"Jay! This is Kathy!" she introduced us. It was the pretty woman again. I waved awkwardly but she pulled me into a hug. I didn't know what to do so I just stood there.
"Sorry! I like hugs!" she apologized as she pulled away. I gave her a genuine smile and almost stepped away, but I didn't because that was be too rude.
"These are my daughters! Daisy, Phoebe, Felicity and Lottie!" she gestured to each of them as she said their names. I waved again and none of them came to hug me, they just waved back which I was happy about.
"Say hi" Fiona whispered in my ear. I shook my head making her pinch my arm lightly. I still didn't say anything.
"And this is my son Louis and his friends Liam, Niall, Zayn and Harry" she moved slightly so I could see the five teenage lads that were behind her. They looked so familiar. They all turned to face me with curiosity, almost making me drop my gaze.
"Hi, we're One Direction" They stated in sync, really cheesily. That's why I recognized them!
