Never Alone (Harry Styles Fiction)

Chapter 21

~*Jake P.O.V*~

"What the fuck Niall?" I retorted at my drunken state friend.

"Ehh.... Sorry man," he nervously rubbed the back of his neck.

"Whatever," I muttered and went passed him. I bumped his shoulder while passing by; he stumbled backwards but caught himself with the wall. My intention right now was to continue down through the hall, and catch up with Lynn. I ran down the stairs and pushed past sweaty bodies until I felt a hand tugging on my arm.

"Jakey, I haven't seen you all week, have you been hiding from me baby?" The intoxicated voice slurred in my ear.

"Don't you have a boyfriend to be messing around with?" I muttered.

"Jealous?" She smirked while tracing delicate figures on my chest.

"Yes, so much," I said and rolled my eyes. "Listen, nice talking to you but I have to go," I grabbed her hand and moved it away from me.

"C'mon baby, let's get out of here and up my room," she says in attempt to be seductive. She starts sliding her hand down my chest

"No" I said getting annoyed.

"I know you want to," she whispers getting her hand lower every passing second. "I'll give you my all, you can do whatever you want to me," she whispers and kisses my cheek. "Just say the words and I'm all yours," her hand goes even lower and stops at the top of my belt. She continues to kiss down my neck, and it sends shivers through out my entire body. Fuck, I need to control myself. I never slept with a whore, and I am not going to tonight. Before she grabs my already harden member, I grab her hand.

"I said no," I growl and yank her hand off of me.

"Oh c'mon Jake! She doesn't want you! She's a little whore!" She flew her hands all over the place trying to make a point. My hand start to raise ready to smack the living hell out of her but I need remind myself that she's a girl.

"I said no! Go fuck your boyfriend," I barked.

"I don't understand you! One minute you give me signs that you want me and then next you leave me like a lost dog! I can't do this anymore Jake!" I'm taken back by her sudden outburst on me.

"Katie..."

"No Jake just stop!"

"I was just going to say that I've never given you signs of me liking you, it was all in your head. The only time that I actually lead you on were that night Lynn caught us. But that was it-" My head then roughly turned in an uncomfortable angle. My cheek sting and then realization hit me, I was just slapped what the fuck?

"Fuck you! Fuck you Jake Woods! You’re an asshole!" Katie stormed off leaving me dumbfounded. I turned around forgetting what just happened and tried to look for her again. I hope Lynn didn't just witnessed that, but once I saw the familiar wings disappear out the front door, something told me that she did.

*~Lynn's P.O.V~*

I ran out of the no good damn party. I kept running for at least fifteen more minutes.

Going to the party was one of the worst decisions I ever made! Who does Niall think he is? This isn't fucking elementary school where he tells on me! Better yet, Jake is not my fucking father! I can do whatever I want! My life is so complicated.

I continue walking down the street. Great here I am, walking alone at midnight. "Great, fucking great!" I muttered under my breath. Christ, these heels are cute but they are killing me!

I stop at an empty park that is surrounded by trees. I look around to see if I was alone, and I am. I bend down to unclasp the heels. I step out of them, once my skin touched the cold concrete, calmness wash over me. I picked up the heels, and walked through the cold grass.

I looked around the place for a good 20 minutes at least. Nature always relaxes me. After a few more minutes, a strange feeling came to me. I felt that I am being watched. I turned around and I spotted a shadow leaning against a big tree. I saw a glint of light coming from a cigarette.

"What are you doing here all alone?" that voice, it sounds so familiar.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, I'm a little startled. I wasn't expecting someone to be here with me.

"Fresh air," the person said. Once I heard that voice again, anger filled my veins.

"Kay," I said trying to control my voice.

"What are you doing here?"

"That’s none of your business!" I snapped. He walked towards me. I still couldn't see his face clearly, the lights were too far away, but I could see a bit of his features. He stopped once he was about five steps away from me. I took the advantage and took in his features; he was wearing a leather jacket, black jeans and black shoes, his hair was up in a quaff and his dark brown eyes bore down at me with a glint of amusement.

"Sassy, aren't we?" he smirked as he wrapped his lips around the cigarette once more.

"You should know," I snap.

"Damn Lynn, what's gotten in you? Caught Jake cheating or something?" He walked closer and reached out his hand to caress my cheek. I flinched backwards, shocked by his sudden affection. He chuckled a bit. "Your skin is so soft," he whispered and reached out once again. I slapped his hand away from my face, and he frowned.

"Leave me alone Shane! I'm not going to be your little fuck toy so stop wasting your time!" I snapped. I turned on my heel and walked away. I strong hand wrapped around my elbow and yanked me towards his chest. "Let me go!" I struggled to get out but his grip tightens.

"Would you calm down? I'm not going to kill you," he signed.

"Let go of me!"

"All right..." he let go of me; once I was free I slapped him hard.

"Don't ever touch me again!"

"W-what?"

"Just because I was struggling to get away from your grip doesn't mean I was distracted enough to not notice you touching my ass you pervert!" I screamed. Instead of Shane looking guilty, that fucker smirked.

"Your pretty smart Lynn, I never met a girl as smart as you," he nodded his head and I caught a glance of lust when our eyes connected. I felt nauseas and turned from his intense stare.

"That's because you only look for easy idiot girls to mess around with," I muttered.

"True."

I sighed and turned on my heel once again.

"Goddammit, wait!"

"What the hell do you want now?"

"Why did you leave the party?"

"Would you stop fucking stalking me!?"

"I'm not stalking you," he mumbled.

"Then keep your nose away from my business!" I snapped.

"What are you talking about?"

"Oh, C'mon! Don't try and act innocent. I know you’re always on my back listening to my conversations! I already seen you more than twice outside my window while I'm changing," I crunched up my nose in disgusted.

"Then you should start closing your curtains," he smirked. That bastard! He doesn't even try to deny it.

"You know," he takes a step closer to me and I freeze. "Jake is one lucky bastard," he whispers and walks closer to me. I can't move, and I am afraid of what is going to happen next. "You have a really nice body, nice tan," he starts to slowly caress my arm in a seductively manner. My body shivers in disgust but I am frozen in place. He starts to lean onto me. "Just looking at your full lips gets me hard," he whispers in my ear and starts to nibble on it. My body stiffens, I can't move. "What's wrong Lynn? You want me too don't you?" he kissed my cheek and left a trail of wet kisses on my neck. Wake up! Don't just stand there like and idiot! Move! The little voice in my head yelled at me.

My brain finally connected to my body, and I yanked Shane's disgusting hands away from me. I slapped the smug expression on his face so hard that I swear I heard it echo.

"You pervert!" I yelled and stormed off.

"This isn't over! And you know it!" I rolled my eyes ignoring him and continued on my way.

I guess I should be a bit thankful that the flee and the argument with Jake sober me up a bit, enough to stop myself from doing something I'll regret later.

~*Harry's POV*~

"Harry? Baby you need to wake up," I groaned in protest.

"Few more minutes," I mumbled.

"No! You're going to be late! Hurry now your breakfast is downstairs," I groaned again and sat up on my bed.

"What time is it?" My voice husky, from being just woken up. I raise my hand up to my face, trying to rub off some of my slumber.

"7:20"

"What!?" I quickly stood up and started grabbing random clothes out of my drawers.

"I told you so many times to sleep early but you never listen!" my mum scowled.

"I know, I know, I'm sorry," I mumbled as I pull on a clean white tee and black jeans. I looked around for my shoes but couldn't find them. "Ehh.... Mum?"

"Their downstairs under the couch," she pointed out the door. "You never listen to me Harry! I always tell you, be more organize, put away your things, go to sleep early..." I muted my mum as she kept going on and on about her rant. It's always like this each morning. I put on my socks, grab my bag and phone and follow my mums voice downstairs.

"Ok thanks mum, I gotta go," I put on my white converse and bend to kiss her cheek goodbye.

"You're not going to eat your breakfast?" she frowns.

"I'm running late mum, I don't have time," I put on my jacket and grab my car keys.

"At least take an apple or banana or a yogurt," she scowls. "You can't go without eating," she nods her head and goes inside the kitchen. After a few seconds she's back with brown bag in one hand and a yogurt bottle with the other. "Here take this and drink it on your way, and here's your lunch," she hands me the bag and we exchange goodbyes once again.

"Bye mum! Love ya!" I hop into my car and I'm off to school.

************

I park my car and jump out. I look around and a lot of teens are rushing inside the building. I walk slowly and let the cold familiar air I grew up with caress my skin. I finally reach the front and pull open the door; I walk inside and see the same lockers and marble floor from the past two years. I sigh and make my way to my locker.

"Locker 125,126... Here it is Locker 129." I glare at the number for a good five seconds. How lovely, I have the same locker number Lynn had. Two years ago.... Two fucking years since I have last seen her. Last time I talked her, she was crying for my forgiveness, I'm such an arse.

"Harry please don't go we can work this out," she pleaded, crying into my already soaked shirt from her tears. "Harry please we can work things out, you're going back to London, I don't want you to remember me this way, please?" I couldn’t take it anymore, if I don’t leave now, I will never get over her.

"Lynn please, you're making this harder on myself than on you, please let me go," I whispered as I untangled myself from her arms, I turned to walk away.

"Is this how its going to be then? You're just leaving me like that, not even letting me apologize for what happened? You're just going to forget about me know?" I tensed, but quickly recovered, I tried my hardest not to turn and yell at her for betraying me.

"Good bye Lynn," I whispered and left out the door without another glance. I heard her sobbing but didn’t dare to turn back; she played me one too many times.

I sigh at the memory; she wasn’t even mine to begin with… I shouldn’t have been too hard on her; she must be so pissed, better yet. She probably forgot all about me.

"Harry!" Fuck. I turned around and look at the overly excited blonde running towards me. "Are you coming to tonight’s home game?" she beamed.

"Probably not..." I sigh.

"Aww come on! We're having an after party," she walked closer to me. "I know you'll like it Harry, and maybe we can have a little party of our own," she whispered as she traced small circles on my arm.

"I don't know Wendy..." I said simply, ignoring her comments.

"C'mon! Harry you changed," she whined. "Your not the same anymore, America changed you!" she frowned. If only you knew that it wasn't America, but a particular American girl.

I tuned off Wendy, as my mind trail off thinking about those beautiful big brown eyes, and wavy red-brown hair. How her head falls backwards when she laughs and claps her hands. Her voice... I miss her voice so much, how I miss her telling me her childhood stories. How much she trusts me and I left her. I small smile appears on my lips when I start remembering all of these little things about her, but fades as I hear Wendy's voice.

"Harry? Were you even listening to me!?" Wendy scowled. "You jerk!" she huffed and stalked away.

I sigh and turned to open my locker. I put in my lunch, my bag and take out my gym clothes. I shut it closed and make my way towards the boys changing locker room.

"Styles!" Now what. I turned to look who was calling after me. My eyes land on a girl who looks a lot like... Wait... No it can't be. I ignore the voice calling after me and walk towards the girl who looks so much like Lynn. Memories of Lynn start to replay in my head and my hope rises. She's here? I didn't expect her here. A smile grows on my lips, as I am getting closer.

"L-Lynn?" I reach to touch the girl’s shoulder. She turns around, my smile and all of Lynn's memories fade away. The girl’s hair that I thought was the beautiful mixed of velvet red brown hair turns to dark black hair. She turns around and frowns in confusion. "Sorry I thought you were someone else," I mumble and hung my head low, disappointment washes all over me as I walk away... Of course it wasn't her, she's in America miles away from me. Why would she be here? She's Jake's not mine; I need to forget about her. But she could have been yours, if you only let her explain herself instead of running away from your problems again... "Geez night pep talk," I mumble quietly, my head hung low as I make my way to gym class.

*********

The entire day was hell. I couldn’t concentrate in class at all. My teachers called me out repeatedly until they were finally fed up and just ignored me. I ended up going to the game, and as I predicted we won. Now it was time for the after party in one of the cheerleader’s house. The house is up on a mountain and huge. I walked around the house full of drunken teens.

"Harry, are you having fun?" Wendy slurred as she swayed her hips and nearly tripping over her heels.

I stop myself from laughing. "Yeah, now I am," I chuckled. She gave me a weird glare; I assume she couldn't do it properly since she's already wasted.

"Let's go upstairs, yeah?" she whispered, her hot intoxicated breath hitting my face.

"Uhm.... I'm going to get fresh air actually," She rolls her eyes and walks away from me.

I walked out into the backyard, not many were here. Just a few smoking some pot, and others sucking each other’s faces off. I ran a hand in my hair, and continued to walk. I was about 15 minutes away from the party, the music was so loud.

I spotted a deserted tree house from afar. How coincidentally, at a party with intoxicated teens, and a tree house. Memories of that night I encountered with Lynn came rushing. The night she told me about her father.

I was driving her back home; the entire drive was completely silent. I kept hearing her silent sobs as she looked out the window. Her eyes were locked on the sky, and then tears started swelling her eyes again. Once I parked outside her house I tuned to her.

"Lynn..." I began, but couldn't find the right words to say. I want to know why she was upset, was her dad dead? I was urgent to find out. When I finally open my mouth to ask, she spoke up. Like she knew what I wanted to ask.

"M-my dad and I used to lie on the grass and watch the stars." she whispered and turns to me. "He would always work outside of the state, so I really didn't see him as much as I would like" I was silent, listening to her, looking into her sad dark eyes. "Whenever he came back home, I would always set up the place to watch the stairs, and I would always wear the clothes or accessories he send me”

“I-Is he dead?” I blurted, fuck what the hell did I just said!? “Shit, Lynn I didn’t mean to say that… I-I I’m sorry, just ignor-“

“Harry it’s ok,” she a sad smile. “He’s not dead.”

“Wait what?! What do you mean he’s not dead? If he isn’t dead… then why are you so upset?” I asked completely bewildered by her reply.

“Because I miss being in a family with both my parents, I miss spending time with my dad,” she was quiet for a while.

I furrowed my eyebrows as I was in deep thought. I don’t understand, if he’s not dead, then where is he? Why isn’t he here with Lynn? She then continued, breaking my thoughts. “He started drinking when I was six, I didn’t know why he started drinking, my six year old mentality didn’t had a clue why. I was scared because he and my mother started fighting, I was so confused.” She sniffled and looked ahead, while I kept my gaze locked on her features. “I was confuse because, we were so happy, we were a happy family, they rarely fought, and when they did, it was just arguments on either what to eat, or who is going to pay the bill.”

“I don’t understand Lynn”
She ignored me and began her story. “But now I know why, I know why he turned to alcohol, I know why he fought with my mother that day, That fucking bastard was cheating on my mother for more than six fucking years. His stupid lover left him.”

“W-what!?” I was so shocked, he cheated? That sounds so surreal, she described him as a lovable, caring father, everything that my father wasn’t.

“Its actually quite funny how I am crying over him, when he clearly doesn’t gives two shits about me” she laughed humorously. “ He left and is never coming back, he never called me, and he stop sending me clothes and accessories. Once he left through that door, I knew he wasn’t coming back, I screamed his name, I ran after him. I tugged on his pants begging him to stay. “ Daddy, daddy please don’t go, please I promise to behave, I promise to do my homework, I promise to pick up dollies when I finish playing. Daddy please” I kept begging but he didn’t even stop, he kept going. He didn’t even glance at me. I still remember what he told me after ten years, “I’m sorry, I’ll see you one day” and he left inside his car and drove of. I kept running after him, falling over my feet, my legs were scrapped, but I didn’t care, I wanted my dad, I kept running. Ignoring my mothers screams to come back.” She was shacking from crying, but I couldn’t do anything, I was frozen, shocked. “ I guess I just really want my childhood back..,” she sobbed.

I walked up the ladder inside the house. The moon peeped inside the house, giving it a small light. I looked towards the night sky; I remember the night so clearly. I told her I would always be there for her, and catch her when she falls. The shooting star replays in my mind.

"Harry, what are you doing up here?" She asked as she sat next to me.
"I could ask you the same thing." I winked.
"I needed some air and found this tree house from afar... it's amazing." She looked up to admire its unique structure. "So why are you here, I thought you'd be back in there with the boys getting drunk." She looked back at me.
"No, I don't drink." I simply said straightening my beanie and looking at her.
"Smoke?"
"Nope." I smiled shrugging my shoulders. "Do you?"
"Well not really... I've done it a couple of times when I'm stressed out or something,” she said nervously.
"Well you shouldn't. You're to beautiful to be damaging yourself." I looked at her with concern.
"Thank you." She smiled and look down at her lap..
"No worries babe. I mean it." I said concerning not making eye contact with her what so ever. She got a little closer and wrapped her arms, burying her face into my arms.
"What's wrong?" I chuckled.
"Nothing's it's just... I-I… I’m scared of heights! Please don't laugh!" She stuttered in embarrassment. She peeked up at me only to see me laughing.
“Don’t be scared,” I said again, as my hands gently stroked the sides of her waist. “I’m with you. I won’t let you fall, Lynn.”
“We’re really high up, aren’t we?” she chuckled nervously.
“Sort of, but isn’t the view great?” I asked.
“Harry, I’m really scared,” She admitted softly, sneaking a peak down at the ground.
“Why?” I asked me. “I’ve got you, haven’t I?”
She nodded slowly, and returned her gaze back up to the stars. “I know.” she said.
“I’ve always got you, Lynn…” I told her and earned a smile back from her..
“I know,” She said again. “It’s beautiful up here.”
“It is,” I agreed. “But you know who’s more beautiful?”
“Who?” She smiled, leaning her head back against my shoulder.
“Me.” I joked. She laughed, and playfully punched my arm.
“You are.” She agreed, looking up at me.
“So are you.” I said. “You’re really beautiful.”
She blushed and looks away from me. I held her chin up with two of my fingers. “I like it when you blush.”
She giggled. “You like a lot of weird things.” she said, shaking her head.
“True,” I chuckled. “No wonder I like you.” I grinned as I see her cheeks flush. “There it is,” I said, poking her cheek.
“Stop making me blush like that.” She muttered, embarrassed.
“But I like seeing you blush.” I insisted.
“Ass.” she mumbled.
Suddenly, my eyes widened. “Lynn, look!” I said excitedly, and pointed at the sky she looked up to see a shooting star zipping across the sky. I closed my eyes and made a wish. A few seconds later, I opened them and smiled down at her.
“What did you wish for?” she asked curiously.
“Like hell I’m telling you.” I snorted, putting an arm around her as we sat on the edge of the tree house.
She frowned. “That’s not fair.” she insisted.
I simply shrugged. “Oops.” I grinned down at her.
“You really are an ass.” she accused which only made me laugh.
We stood in silence for a while, watching the sky. Being with her makes me feel full. I don’t ever want to be parted from her.
“If you fall, Lynn, I’m going to be there to catch you.” Whisper.
“Hey, Lynn?” I asked after a while.
“Hmmm?”
“I really do like you, you know?” I asked.
“I do know, Harry.” she assured me.
“Yeah,” I said. “I just thought I…I should tell you again. I like you. A lot. Probably a bit more than I should. But I’m not complaining.”
She laughed lightly at that. “I like you too, Harry.” she told me.
“You do?” I asked.
“Of course, you're a really sweet friend.” She said.
“I meant what I said,” I said, as I looked at her. “I’ve always got you.”
“Promise?” she asked me.
I smiled for a while and leaned into her ear and whispered. “Promise.”

My smile fades as the memory vanishes. I regret leaving her behind, I should have brought her here with me. I looked up at the sky,“ I will always be there to catch you Lynn, I love you,” I whisper. I close my eyes and make my way to my car.

This story is one of the most confusing stories ever. With the flashbacks just being italic and then all the dreams. And now it's over, and i don't even know what to think right now. I'm kinda stunned and didn't realize this story was over. I feel like so much more could happen, like its unsolved, all our questions are unanswered. It's really confusing, but still a great book :)
