The Wedding Planner

Chapter Twenty-Two

Harry’s POV
We were currently in the bakery where Kennedy used to work and I swear I’ve never seen her so excited and happy. She was currently talking to Cara about her adventures in America and how much she missed home. I was watching smiling from a distance when Joel, the owner’s son, came out and stood next to me.

“You really care about her don’t you?” he asked and I looked over at him and smiled.

“You have no idea mate,” I said, “I can’t believe I was such an arse in secondary school to her.”

“That’s because you hung out with Hailey and her friend mate,” Joel said, “They talked you into changing and you did. I can tell you something though that Kennedy won’t ever tell you.”

“And what’s that?” I asked.

“She’s always loved you,” he said, “Even when you were being rude.”

I smiled at Joel’s words and looked over at Kennedy who looked up and smiled cheekily at me. I smiled back her and she went back to her conversation to and I heard someone come out from the backroom.

“I thought I heard Kennedy’s giggle,” Mr. William’s the owner said and smiled at me.

“Hello Mr. William,” I said.

“So you finally decided to apologize,” he said, “It’s a good thing you did too lad. I’ve never seen Kennedy smile or laugh this much in a long time and I haven’t seen her in three years.”

Kennedy looked up and quickly stood up and walked around the counter to hug Mr. William.

“It’s good to see you again Ken,” he said and she smiled at him.

“I’m sorry I was away for so long,” she replied quietly and Mr. William chuckled.

“Well when you’re a famous wedding planner it kind of makes it hard doesn’t it?” he asked and she just giggled.

“Thank you for the free cake,” she laughed, “It was delicious.”

“Well make sure you share with Harry,” he said laughing, “you know how he gets when you don’t share.”

She then looked over at me and I felt myself blush as she giggled and walked over to me and I pulled her closer to me.

“Of course,” she said and kissed my cheek.

Mr. William then headed in the back and she pulled me over to the table that she was sitting at with Cara.

“You two actually talked to each other?” she asked as we sat down.

“Well he tried but I ignored his number so he had Andrea call me,” Cara said, “I was still pissed at him for causing you to leave Holmes.”

She smiled lightly at her friend and I squirmed uncomfortably in my seat. I hated being reminded that I was the main reason why Kennedy left. I knew that and I felt really bad when someone ever mentioned it. We quietly talked for a little bit longer before the door opened to reveal a group of people we went to school went. I instantly moved closer to Kennedy who was still animatedly talking to Cara about opening up her new business in London and wanted her to come work for her. However her talking stopped when we all heard the familiar shrill voice of Hayley Glaser.

“Harry is that you!?” she gushed as she came up to the table and glared at Cara and then at Kennedy.

“Hi Hayley,” I said still sitting in my seat not making any movement to hug her or shake her hands, “How have you been?”

I then absentmindedly put my arm around Kennedy’s shoulder.

“I’ve been doing good,” she said and then she looked at Kennedy and decided she needed to be civil.

“Hi I’m Hayley,” she said, “I’m really good friends with Harry.”

I rolled my eyes and Kennedy smirked.

“I remember you,” she smiled lightly, “It’s Kennedy Hayley.”

When she said that everyone that was watching us came over and said hi to Kennedy.

“Kennedy!” a voice boomed out and I saw a huge smile grace her face as she saw Jared in the group.

“Jared!” she exclaimed and stood up and they did a weird handshake and hugged him tightly, “You’re huge now!”

“Are you calling me fat?” he asked and they both just laughed apparently at an inside joke they had in secondary school.

“Are you taking roids?” she asked then slapped her hand over her mouth and everyone laughed.

“Well America as sure made you blunt hasn’t it?” Jared asked laughing.

I saw Kennedy blush a dark shade of red and I slipped in next to her.

“Hey Haz,” he said smiling at me.

“Hey Jared,” I said shaking his hand.

I then felt Kennedy lean into me and Jared smiled at us.

“Well if Harry lets you have time to hang out with some of your old friends let me know,” he said, “I’d love to catch up.”

“It was good seeing you Jared,” she said and hugged him.

I don’t know why but I felt a jealous pang go through my body when I saw her interact with Jared. It was effortless between the two of them and I felt like that if Kennedy wasn’t with me then she would be with Jared.

“You too shortie,” he grinned, “I have a ton of questions to ask you about helping me plan a wedding.”

I then saw her jaw drop.

“You’re engaged!?” she squealed.

“Almost,” he said and she hugged him again.

“We’re definitely doing lunch sometime this week,” she said and kissed his cheek.

“Good seeing you two,” he told us, “And way to step up Harry.”

Kennedy grinned widely and kissed my cheek.

“Thank you,” she whispered in my ear, “For everything.”

I smiled lightly at her and kissed her cheek.

“I’d do anything for you Kennedy don’t ever forget that,” I whispered and kissed her temple.
