Beneath Your Perfect

The Questionable Book

“I need your help?” Aria’s desperate voice sounded through the phone.

“Really Aria. Now?” I groaned out in annoyance.

“Please Jade! You do this the best. You can even bring Liam since I’m assuming you’re with him.”

“What makes you say that?” I asked quickly, eyeing Liam sitting in the drivers seat next to me.

“Because you always are lately. Now please can you just come and save me.”

“Fine. We’re on our way.” I grumbled out to her before hanging up my phone. Liam glanced towards me expectantly.

“Would we be able to go to Aria’s before getting breakfast?” I asked him sweetly. He nodded and took the nearest side street to turn back the way we came.

“Is something wrong?”

“She has a boy in her apartment that she needs me to get rid of.” I admitted to him. He looked at me surprised before remembering to look back at the road.

“By the tone of your voice I’m assuming she does this often?” He enquired.

“Yeah I guess so. She believes she has a healthy sexual life. She thinks she’s too busy for a proper relationship with work and everything so she just has one night stands when she has to scratch the itch.” I laughed as Liam screwed his face up at what I said.

“Too much information. What does she do for work anyway?”

“She’s in marketing. Very high up as well. She’s very serious with her work.”

“Aria? Your friend Aria is in marketing?” Liam asked me surprised as we turned into my street, Liam immediately turning into the complex that was across the road from mine.

“You would be surprised how hard she works.” I told him as I led him towards the elevator.

“I’ll take your word for it. So what do you do just burst in there and kick this guy out?”

“Well actually, the one we use the most is me being her lesbian lover. But since you’re here today, feel like taking the reins? You know be her boyfriend or something?” I smiled at him sweetly as he stopped in his tracks after stepping out of the elevator.

“Jade.” He said slowly, shaking his head. I pouted at him instantly.

“Please.” I batted my eyelashes as he continued to frown at me before sighing and glancing towards the doors.

“Which one is it?” I smiled largely and pointed to Aria’s door, instructing him that it would be unlocked.

I stood to the side of the door as Liam took a deep breath and shot me a glare before pulling the door open loudly and storming into the flat. Shouting started suddenly and I only had to wait a couple of seconds before a topless guy came flying out the door and down the hallway, clutching his shirt and shoes to his chest. A giggle fell from my mouth as I entered the flat.

“He was brilliant! Award winning performance! Can I borrow him more often? Maybe you could turn up about this time every Saturday and Sunday morning?” Aria beamed at Liam. He looked at her incredulous before looking to me for help. Laughing I grabbed his hand and tugged him towards the door.

“Sorry Aria, but he’s mine during those times. Maybe if you got yourself a boyfriend you wouldn’t need to scare people out.” I suggested to her. She waved her hand at me vaguely.

“That requires so much effort though.” She frowned at me. “Now you two go have fun on your cute little date.”

Laughing, I blew her a kiss before dragging Liam back out the door and towards the elevator.

“Thank you for doing that.” I said before pressing a kiss to his cheek. He smiled down at me before tucking a piece of my straight black hair behind my ears.

“It was kind of fun.” He admitted to me. “You should have seen his face when I came barging in.”

I laughed at Liam’s recount of events. I couldn’t help but admire the light in his eyes as he talked. It was very cute.

I leant up and pressed my lips to Liam’s effectively cutting of his words. He kissed back eagerly, his hands instantly finding their spot on my waist.

“What was that for?” Liam asked, mumbling his words against my lips. I pulled back so I could see his eyes.

“Because I can.” I said simply before pulling out of his arms completely and going to stand by the car. Liam shook his head before unlocking it and opening the door for me.

-

“How many of these have you read?” I asked Liam, bending down to touch my journals sitting in their box in the corner of Liam’s room. He glanced over after pulling his sweater over his head.

“I just finished the 20th I’m pretty sure.” He said thoughtfully, glancing at one of my books sitting on his bedside table. I bit my lip and nodded at him. He smiled and walked over, grabbing my hands and pulling my body against his.

“You’re amazing you know that?” He told me seriously, his face placed close to mine ensuring he clouded all my senses. “The way you see things, the way you interpret them. You find beauty in everything although I think that hurts you more sometimes.”

His lips pressed to mine softly as they lingered there for a moment.

“Come on lets go before we’re late.” I smiled up at him before tugging on his hand and heading towards the door.

“Are you sure it’s okay that I come?” Liam asked me for the hundredth time.

“Of course. Jared is bringing Sarah so of course I can bring you.” I said to him as we headed towards his car.

“Yes but Sarah and Aria are classed as your family already.” Liam whined before opening the door for me.

“Lilly honestly won’t mind you being at her birthday dinner. She is bringing two friends though remember? Two young girls.” I pressed to him. He sighed and nodded before starting the car and heading to the restaurant we were meeting my family at.

“I told Lilly to tell her friends to try to act normal but their only young so you know they’re going to react when they see you.” I told him honestly. He nodded as he pulled out onto the road.

“It’s okay Jade. I’ll be fine.” Liam told me seriously as I bit my lip, nervous. He hadn’t been good around his fans for a while and I was worried these girls might be too much for him. Especially sitting at a table with them for so long, it could get difficult.

We walked into the small restaurant hand in hand as I glanced around for my family. I smiled when I saw my mother waving us both over. Tugging on Liam’s hand I lead him towards the large and loud table of people. My mother greeted Liam and I with a kiss on the cheek as my father shook Liam’s hand in greeting. Liam turned to shake both my brothers hand while I turned to Lilly.

“Happy Birthday,” I said to my little sister pulling her into a tight hug. “I can’t believe you’re 13. I remember when mum brought you home and…” Lilly clamped her hand over my mouth.

“Don’t you start, mum’s being going on about that all day.” She whined at me. I laughed and placed a kiss on hear head.

“Don’t worry I’ll hold her back from telling embarrassing stories.” Liam said kindly to Lilly as he stood by my side. She beamed up at him. “Happy Birthday by the way.”

I watched as Liam’s face turned to shock as Lilly launched herself onto him for a hug. He hesitated a moment as his eyes met mine before he happily wrapped his arms around her and squeezed her softly back.

“Thanks!” She said happily, pulling away. I glanced behind her to see two young girls smiling widely at us, kind of creepily.

“These are my best friends, Terra and Charlie.” She said pointing behind her, both girls waved as Liam flashed them a smile.

“They asked if they would be able to get a photograph with you?” Lilly whispered, stepping closer to us. I glanced up at Liam as his eyes wondered towards the girls before meeting my eyes. He smiled softly.

“Sure but how about after dinner?” He whispered back to her. She smiled and nodded at him before bounding back to her seat. I smiled up at him and squeezed his hand trying to show him how proud I was before we moved towards the two empty seats between Aria and Tyler.

“So what did you two get up to today?” My mother asked Liam and I as we looked over the menus.

“If you know it’s appropriate conversation for the table.” Aria said absently as she scanned the drink list. I smacked her arm as three sets of eyes narrowed in on Liam.

“Nothing happened. Down boys.” I hissed at my father and two brothers. Aria smiled at me apologetically. “Honestly you guys. It’s not like I haven’t done it before.”

“Jared and I went to the movies.” Sarah stated loudly distracting everyone from my statement. I smiled at her in thank as my mother gladly began to question her on the movie.

“Please don’t provoke them.” Liam suddenly whispered into my ear. I turned to look at him amused. “I want them to like me.”

“Relax Li. It’s not like you’ve defiled me or anything.” I whispered back as a small blush crept across my cheeks at the thought.

“Unless you’re talking can be shared with the table, no talking.” Tyler said pushing himself into our conversation. I rolled my eyes at him in return.

“So Liam.” My father suddenly said from across the table, grabbing our attention. “How is your uh music going?”

I could tell by the way my father asked the question that he wasn’t entirely sure how to ask about Liam’s job. I hid the laugh that threatened to fall from my mouth, I was just happy that he was trying. I turned to Liam as he stared blankly at my father, obviously not expecting the question.

“Uh it’s going good sir. We start the writing for our third album in two weeks.” Liam said politely in response to my father.

“Uh okay, well that’s good.” My father responded, still unaware on how to continue the conversation about Liam’s career. Liam smiled and asked him about his job to continue the conversation. Relief washed through my fathers’ eyes as he fell into an exchange with Liam.

My eyes found my mothers as she smiled at he fondly. I smiled back at her before Aria pulled my attention to her.

“Everything seems to be going well in that area then.” Aria whispered to me softly and nodding her head in Liam’s direction.

“It is. It’s going really well actually.” I responded to her.

“Does he know about the book though?” She asked me as I froze. Sarah leant over from Aria’s other side to join our conversation.

“No he doesn’t.”

“Jade you should really tell him. Soon.” Sarah stated.

“You can’t just keep hiding the book from him completely. He’s going to get suspicious or hurt on why you won’t let him read it.” Aria added in. “And you can’t just you know hide it until it comes out.”

“My publishers might not even like the story anyway, so then it won’t matter.” I tried to defend.

“Have they ever turned down any of your books?” Sarah asked me rolling her eyes. I bit my lip and sighed before sitting back in my seat properly. Liam shot me a curious look as I stared down at the table. I could feel my mothers’ eyes on me as well and knew I was going to get a call later on.

I didn’t want to ruin how Liam was right now. He had been doing great, he was even freely conversing with my father and Tyler right now. Everything was beginning to go right and I didn’t want to ruin it.

I didn’t know how Liam was going to take my book but there was a good chance that he would act badly. There was a really good chance that he would hate it.

I didn’t want to hurt him that was the last thing I wanted. But it was my writing and my book. I had never deleted or stopped writing a book for anyone before. Was I going to start now because of Liam?

Notes

I'm so sorry guys! Studying was kicking my BUTT these last couple of weeks and I haven't been able to write! Studying normally make me get serious writer's block as well as I'm focused completely on Uni so I get pretty hopeless. So again so sorry for the long as wait. I'm on a two week break now and then I go back for another month until the 5th of November before I have my four month summer holiday so if I disappear again don't fret and I'll be back real soon. During my long break I promise to write so much and I have heaps more plans for stories so look forward to those (I certainly am). To make up for being away for so long I'll update again tomorrow and more frequently these holidays before going back! Sorry guys and thanks for hanging around for the next chapter!

Enjoy and tell me how you think the story is going so far?!
xx

@ohhboybands
Thanks for commenting on these stories love! I hate getting distracted by a good story when you're meant to be studying but then again I do love procrastinating :P
Glad you enjoyed it and just a little hint I can never write a story that doesn't have a happy ending - it just never seems finished to me then :P

AHHHHH! Happy Ending! Didn't expect it, but I totally love it!

I really should not start reading one of your old stories when I'm at University, because I seriously don't do any homework and stay up until some ungodly hour to read them.... I'm only on Chapter 15 of this one and I know I'm going to be staying up all night to finish it...

Oh wow! So so so good! I could not stop reading this! You are very talented and I cannot wait to read more of your work!
