Beneath Your Perfect

The Broken Popstar

The unknown song playing in the club vibrated through the bar as I leant against it trying to catch the attention of the barman. I sighed in annoyance as he served someone else again that was not me.

“Flash and that will grab his attention,” My wild friend Aria said from next to me. I threw her an annoyed look before finally grabbing the bartenders attention and ordering a water. Aria scoffed from next to me. “Could you be any safer, Jade?”

“Leave her alone Ari! You know how grumpy Jade is when she’s hungover, I say let’s encourage the water drinking.” My other friend Sarah came up beside us. I laughed at her as she flipped her long blonde hair over her shoulder. We moved away from the bar after Aria got her drink.

“Tall, handsome and probably drunk is making his way over to us.” Aria said with some interest glancing behind me. I groaned not caring who it was. “He actually looks really familiar.”

“Can you not taking anyone home tonight?” I whined at her while running a hand through my long straight black hair. “I don’t want to pretend to be your lesbian lover to kick him out in the morning.”

Aria smirked at me before her attention turned to the person behind me. I heard his voice but I refused to turn around and acknowledge him.

“Doesn’t he look familiar?” Sarah whispered into my ear glancing over my shoulder. I shrugged, not knowing what he looked like. I finished my water and placed it on the closest table before turning around. My eyes widened slightly as my green eyes met chocolate coloured eyes. They were absolutely adorable. Too bad the red surrounding them showed how drunk the owner of the eyes actually was.

I stepped back slightly not at all okay with the closeness of mine and the stranger’s body. I tipped my head to the side and studied him slightly. There was something familiar about him. His buzzed head put me off slightly but he was still very familiar. My eyes travelled down his body noticing his fairly tanned skin and toned body, back up to his smirking mouth.

“See something you like?” He slurred at me. I rolled my eyes at him.

“I’m going home.” I told Sarah before holding my clutch securely under my arm and manoeuvred my way around people until I reached the door. The moment I stepped out into the cold London air my lungs eagerly took in the outside smell, it wasn’t exactly clean, but it was better than the smell’s from inside. I glanced around before turning to the left to start walking home.

“Wait,” someone said from behind me and grabbed my arm. I whirled around in surprise before coming face to face with the chocolate eyed stranger. My own eyes widened in surprise as I stared at this man, not knowing what he was doing out here or what exactly he wanted from me.

I watched as he stood there trying to catch his breath. He toppled to the side slightly before standing properly. I pursed my lips. His drunken state was less than impressing.

“You left before we could get to know each other.” He winked at me. Well at least he tried but he pretty much just closed both eyes for longer than a blink. I sighed and glanced around hoping that maybe one of his friends had noticed that he was missing and would come rescue me from him. But no one was around.

“Look, mate, I’m not interested. So just go back to the bar and find another lass to shag.” I told him before turning away. He grabbed my arm again. I grumbled under my breath as he leant heavily against me before standing properly again.

“I would rather shag you.” He smirked at me. I eyed him incredulously. Seriously? This boy thought he was that good? Sure he was handsome but his cockiness and how drunk he was certainly made him a major turn off, for me anyway.

“Who on earth do you think you are?” I asked him extremely annoyed by now. He looked at me strangely.

“You don’t know who I am?” He slurred at me surprised. I sighed. He must have been really drunk to think that I was a friend of his who knew him.

“Go back inside.” I grumbled at him before pulling away and moving further down the street. I tried to ignore the stumbling and slurred words coming from behind me as I got closer to my apartment building. There was a louder noise and a groan.

Sighing I stopped in my tracks and closed my eyes. I stood there for a minute before turning around to see my stalker laying half into the gutter. Knowing I couldn’t just leave him there I walked back towards him.

“Are you okay?” I asked tentatively. I only got a groan in response. I bent down and tried to help him sit up, but god this boy was heavy! Eventually with struggling grunts from both of us I had him sitting up.

“Do you remember where you live so I can call you a cab?” I asked him, looking into his red eyes. He merely looked back at me dazed and confused. Sighing I glanced around looking for anything or anyone, knowing that I couldn’t just leave him out here.

“Come on,” I grumbled as I helped him to his feet. I then proceeded to lead a strange man that I did not know into my building and towards the stairs. Luckily I only lived on the second floor so there weren’t too many stairs. It still took us longer than necessary to work our way up them though.

We arrived at my door and I let the strange boy slump against the wall as I pushed in the key. I eyed him for a moment as he rested his head back and closed his eyes, swaying slightly on the spot. I knew my parents would go mental at me if they knew what I was about to do.

I pushed open my door anyway and guided him into the apartment. Hoping to god that this wasn’t an act and he wouldn’t suddenly attack me, completely sober. My worries were answered however as his body automatically slumped forward onto the couch, face buried into a pillow. I turned it to the side slightly and bent down so I could look into his half closed eyes. Even in this drunken and pathetic state, he was still extremely familiar.

“What’s your name?” I asked him softly. He blinked at me slowly, a couple of times, he may have been trying to wink again for all I knew. He finally opened his mouth.

“Liam Payne,” He breathed out, I wrinkled my nose slightly as his alcohol scented breath filled my nostrils signalling that he pretty much drunk the whole bar tonight.

Before I could say anything more, he had already fallen asleep. His light snores filling my living room. I rolled my eyes before grabbing a spare blanket from a nearby chair and throwing it over him carelessly. I then made my way towards my room, turning off all the lights in the process.

I locked the door to my bedroom, still not completely trusting the strange man that was now in my apartment. I knew my friends would probably chew my ear off tomorrow about this but it’s not like I could leave him lying in the street all night.

I changed quickly and climbed into bed. The name Liam Payne kept swimming around in my head as I tried to think of why he and his name was so familiar. Sighing I finally grabbed my laptop and searched the name.

My eyes widened as I realised who he was. Liam Payne, a member of the international boy band One Direction who had come to fame four years ago. I remembered fawning over him when they first started. He was the responsible one with the steady girlfriend. He was the one who kept the other boys out of trouble everyone said.

My eyes strayed to the door where outside a famous boy band member lay passed out on my couch.
I wonder what makes a man go from the responsible one to a drunken boy who could barely stand. My mind worked slowly as I started to wonder what on earth happened to Liam Payne?

@ohhboybands
Thanks for commenting on these stories love! I hate getting distracted by a good story when you're meant to be studying but then again I do love procrastinating :P
Glad you enjoyed it and just a little hint I can never write a story that doesn't have a happy ending - it just never seems finished to me then :P

AHHHHH! Happy Ending! Didn't expect it, but I totally love it!

I really should not start reading one of your old stories when I'm at University, because I seriously don't do any homework and stay up until some ungodly hour to read them.... I'm only on Chapter 15 of this one and I know I'm going to be staying up all night to finish it...

Oh wow! So so so good! I could not stop reading this! You are very talented and I cannot wait to read more of your work!
