The Lucky One

3.

Julia's Point of View

After I finished waiting the Brit's table I realized that I needed to be real. Curly guy was obviously a playboy. I wasn't surprised when I saw him waiting outside the cafe at the end of my shift.

I couldn't help but laugh when he asked me to meet him after work.

"Do you want to see a real party?" I asked him, he looked a bit sheepish.

"I guess."

"Well go to the end of the pier and keep walking to the broken barriers. There should be some type of party there."

I hopped on my longboard as Jacqueline grabbed her beach strand cruiser bike.
"Bring your friends!" She called.

I decided to let him know I was on to him and added on to her statement. "Love." I winked and laughed.

My uncle was British and in the short time I lived with him between houses I knew that barely any British guys actually said love. just because they had an accent didn't make them more romantic.
Julia and I got to the Bariers and boy it was a scene tonight. The bariers were on the edge of the beach strand and just looked like average broken graffiti that used to keep the hillside from crumbling over. Below was an old pool that twenty year ago might have been the most expensive hot spot at the old hotel up the street. Now it served at as a sort of skate park for the surfers, loadies and beach bums of the town. Practically all of the kids I went to school that were somewhat cool and decent were here.

Jacqueline and I caught up with Greg and Julian who were old friends from High School. Jacqueline and Julian were on and off in High School and I didn't understand their relationship it was complicated but it wasnt dramatic. It just happened.

Greg and I had been friends since we were neighbors he was three years older ad he was practically my older brother. Last year on one drunken night we hooked up and somehow our friendship survived. He was good and he was a gentlemen but it was awkward. It was actually like hooking up with a brother.

I laid down on my back. Greg handed me some type of cheap beer in a brown bag. I heard Jacqueline yell.

"Who has theeeee weeeeeeeeeeeed!" I smiled and handed Julia one of my joints.

"Hey Greg can you help me out." Greg shuffled through his pockets and couldn't find a lighter.

"But can you help me out?" He smiled his goofy huge smile that would make every girls hear skip a beat.

"No you have to light me up before I give you a smoke!" I smiled back.

"Goddamn your hard to please! " He started poking me and then that turned into tickling. I was deathly ticklish on my stomach. I tried to run away but then he flung me over his shoulder.

I started laughing as he had me up there. He flung me around and ran around a bit.

"I have a lighter." I heard a British voice say.

Greg put me down. "Who the fuck are these guys?" There were five guys in total. Two in addition to the guys at the cafe earlier.

"Finally someone who can help me out." I punched Greg in the arm in a friendly way to show I knew the other guys and they were cool. Sometimes guys, especially Greg would develop a sort of male superiority complex.

I walked over to Curly. "So the lighter?"

He grabbed one from his pocket and flicked it one. The joint was in my mouth and I leaned forward as he lit it. I looked at him upwards through batting eyelids trying to look as seductive as I could.

I smiled. "Thanks."

I was about to speak when I heard Jacqueline. "No fucking way."
I looks back at her and followed her gaze to a sulky looking boy in the group. He had dark hair and eyes. He looked stunned to see her.

She walked over. "Well its nice to see you again Zayn." She smiled. A little two sweetly it was alarming.

Everyone in the makeshift skate park was watching. Even I couldn't predict what was about to happen next.

"Hey Jacq, How are you, I was…" Before he could finish Jacqueline punched him. HARD.

"Get the FUCK out of my turf you fucking scumbag." And with that she walked away. As graceful as a ballerina.

I laughed.

Looking forward

Jacqueline and Zayn had a long tumultous past? Maybe.

How would the rest of the night unfold?

Will Julia be able to choose between danger and the guy she was set up to be with since childhood?
