“C’monnnn Liberty pleeeasssee” Maddy whined down the phone.

“For the last time Maddy. No, I’m not going camping with you” I angrily sighed and sat on the couch.

“C’mon, Harry’s not there for three days. You need to get out, take your mind off of things and relax”

I thought for a second. What she was saying was right. I needed to take my mind off Harry, off of the hate I was getting. Clear my head. I hated that fact that she was right. She was always right and it annoyed me.

“Fine, I’ll go with you. But only because I want to”

She laughed, “Sure, sure. We’ll be over tomorrow at 8 in the morning okay? So pack your bags now”

“Alright. I have to go Maddy, Harry’s leaving”

“Bye girlie”

I hung up the phone and turned to Harry, who was standing in the doorway, his lips were pouted and it looked as if he didn’t want to leave. I actually think he didn’t want to leave more that I didn’t want him to.

“You’ll be fine without me?” He asked.

“I’ll be with Maddy and the girls. I’ll be fine” I replied.

“Just ring me whenever you need me, okay? I’ll be on the plane and here in ten minutes if you call. I promise.”

I nodded my head reassuringly. I could do this. I could survive three days without the boys. I believed in myself.

“I’ll text you when we land” he said, wrapping his arms around my waist in a tight hug. His face was buried into my neck and I could smell the scent that was Harry. A mixture of cologne, mint toothpaste and the smell of his washing powder he used. I hugged him back with just as much intensity as he did. I didn’t want to let go, but his phone was vibrating and I knew who it was, it was the boys, telling Harry they were here and they needed to leave.

“I’ll see you soon, cupcake” He smirked.

“Bye bye, munchkin” I laughed, hitting him playfully in the chest before he leant down to press my lips against his.

We pulled apart shortly after, breaking apart from our embraces as he walked out of the doorway, waving goodbye and blowing me a kiss. I extended my hand to catch it, slapping my hand against my cheek and giggling. “See ya soon, darlin’” and he walked into the elevator. I watched until the elevator doors slid closed before moving back into my apartment. Walking over to the mysterious cupboard and yanking out a suitcase.

Camping trip. You better be worth it.

“The favourite friend is here!” Someone yelled from the front door. I groaned and slid out of bed. I wasn’t up for camping right now, let alone answering the door in my underwear at 7:30 in the morning. I unlocked the latch Harry insisted on me using, whipping open the door to reveal a hype looking Maddy with Josh standing beside her.

“Ahhh! My eyes!” Josh squealed and covered his eyes. I stood there and glared at the two. “What are you doing here!? Its seven thirty and you weren’t meant to be here until eight! What’s wrong with you?” I yawned and gestured for them to come in. I shut the door behind me and turned around.

“Well, we knew you wouldn’t be ready by like twelve o’clock if we came at eight because you take forever to get ready, so we decided to get you up earlier so we can get our spot at the camping grounds” Maddy grinned like it was the best idea she’d ever had. While Josh was touching the ornaments on my bookshelf.

“And why is he here? I thought it was a girl’s trip?”

“Josh is a girl” Maddy replied bluntly. Josh scoffed and gave her the finger. “We needed someone to drive us because we don’t have our licenses so Josh, Elliot and Brodie are coming with us. Because Josh wouldn’t go on his own” Maddy rolled her eyes.

“Hey! I saw that! I didn’t want to go with a bunch of little twelve year olds and my sister by myself. I could die.”

“My friends are like in love with you so don’t be surprised if one of them tries to feel you up on the car ride there”

Josh made a look of disgust, pretending to shiver. “Good thing I’m sixteen and they’re fourteen”
She laughed, “That won’t stop them.” She paused. “Anyway, are you ready?”

“Does it look like I’m ready?” I gestured down to my clothes. I was still in my Pyjamas but luckily I had found some shorts in the hallway and quickly put them on.

“Well, hurry up then” Maddy made a flick move with her hand to tell me to go and ready. I pursed my lips and glared at her again, turning on the balls of my feet and into my bedroom.

I grabbed a pair of white short shorts and a white tank top with a girl wearing sunglasses on it. The cuts were almost healed up so I would cover them with some bright pink and purple bracelets. I was given the pleasure of being able to cut off the timer bracelet last night. It was sitting on my bedside table as a reminder.

Once I was done, I let my hair fall loose around my head, getting my bangs and twisting them to the side and pinning them there. I took out my purple VANS and slid them onto my feet.
Once I was done, I grabbed my suitcase, pillow and sleeping bag. Walking out of my bedroom and into the living room where Maddy and Josh were. They were both sitting on the couch, Maddy examining her nails and Josh thinking about life.

“Okay, I’m ready” Maddy sighed and they both got up off the couch. “It’s about time” Josh groaned. I rolled my suitcase along the hallway while Josh held my pillow and sleeping bag. I followed behind them and out the door. I switched the lights off and locked the door.

“So how’s it going out with Harry Styles?” Bella turned around in her seat, leaning her arms against the seat and resting her head. Smiling at me.

“It’s pretty cool I guess” I shrugged. I didn’t want to go into too much detail about Harry and I’s relationship. It was secluded and I liked it like that.

“Have you guys had sex!?” Elliot yelled from the back seat. We were in a Land Cruiser, which meant it had like four rows of seats.

My face turned a strawberry colour, hiding my face in my hands. “I’m too young you idiot”
I turned to Ellie who was staring holes into the back of Josh’s head. I leaned over and whispered in her ear, “What’s the time on your bracelet?” She blinked and looked at me, her cheeks tainting pink and fumbling with the band on her wrist.

“Uh-“She stopped. Her eyes went into shock and a smile erupted on her face. What she said next was probably one of the best things that’s been said today.

“Twenty minutes”

I squealed quietly, not wanting anyone to know what we were talking about. “I’m so happy for you El” I hugged her from the side, because I was wearing a seat belt.

“And this is the all new song from Bonnie McKee, American Girl” The radio host said.

“Oh my gosh turn it up I love this song!” I hit Josh’s arm repetitively. “Ow...ow watch the arms Liberty!” He rubbed his arm and turned the sound up. Just in time for chorus.

“I was raised by a television. Every day is a competition” Both Ellie, Maddy, Bella and I screamed. We were all bad singers which made it even worse. Brodie, Josh and Elliot groaned. Elliot slumping back into his chair and whispering something along the lines of, “Please kill me now”

I laughed. Rolling down my window and sticking my head outside. Singing along to the song as the girls did the same as well.

“I am an American girl!” we cheered.

“No you’re not” Brodie yelled back in annoyed tone. Which only made us sing even louder.

Suddenly, the windows were flicked on and quickly closed up. Resulting in the girls screaming and rushing to miss the wrath of the glass window.

“That was not cool!” I shouted. The boys just laughed as Maddy, Bella, Ellie and I puffed, out of breath.

“Back to what we were discussing earlier” Bella said. “Have you kissed him yet?” I smiled lightly, nodded my head and looking down at my hands. “He likes having his hair played with. He kisses me in the morning and at night when he leaves, and he likes when I wear his clothes” A chorus of ‘Awws’ filled the car while the boys scoffed.

“He sounds like a pansy” Elliot laughed, high fiving Josh.

“He isn’t a ‘pansy’, I bet it you had a girlfriend you’d like it when she does that stuff to you” the car erupted in ‘oooos’

Elliot sighed in defeat. Crossing his arms. “Fine, you win this round” I smiled sarcastically at him and he looked away from me and out the window.

“Are we there yet?” Maddy asked.

“Five more minutes Maddy.” Josh exhaled irritably. She was really getting on her brothers nerves and I wouldn’t be surprised if he exploded any minute.

I looked around the car at everyone. Elliot and was sleeping and so was Ellie and Bella. Maddy, Josh, Brodie and I were the only ones awake.

We took a left down a dirt road, holding on for dear life as we drove over mounds of dirt and went through the mud. Everyone was alive and awake at this point. Yelling and screeching for Josh to slow down. But he wouldn’t.

I laughed, taking off my seatbelt and letting the car whip me around like a rag doll.
“Liberty what are you doing!?!” Maddy screamed.

“Have fun! Let go, this is what camping is about!” Maddy shut her mouth, and so did the others. I turned to Ellie who smirked, unclicking her seatbelt as Elliot and Bella did the same. Bumping up and down and laughing hysterically. Maddy sighed. A small smile playing at her lips as she undid her seatbelt and went face first into the seat in front. We laughed, Winding down our windows as Josh went through a pile of mud.

“Faster!” Bella yelled and Josh sped up. Brodie slamming his hands against the dashboard and screaming “Go go go go!”

This was the most fun I’d had in ages. I hadn’t been bush bashing and years and I felt so alive. The adrenaline rushing through my mind and at that moment I really did forget about everything. About everything that was happening with the public, with my parents. I let go and enjoyed it while I could.

“Watch out for the tree!” Brodie yelled and the car swerved to the right, narrowly missing a tree.
We slowed down after that. Our heavy breathes and the loud thumbs of the song American Girl played through the speakers. It was at least the third time we’d heard that song and we still sung along to it every time.

Even the boys.

“That was so fun” Bella said, grinning and bopping her head to the song.

“Not this song again” Elliot banged his head against the window.

“C’mon Elliot you now you love it” I smirked and he stuck his tongue out at me.

I twisted in my seat to look at Ellie again who was shaking. “Are you okay?” I asked her.

“F-five minutes” She stuttered and I gasped. Even though I wasn’t the one finding their soul mate. I felt for her because I knew exactly how it felt.

“I’m gonna stop at the gas station, I need to pee” Josh turned the car onto a normal road, driving for a few meters before pulling over and into a car park.

“I need food” Maddy nodded to herself.

“And I need to pee as well” Ellie shaily whispered and my eyes widened. I knew exactly who it was.

It was Josh.

“You can come with me Ells” he said and she glanced to me, smiling excitedly and scrambling out of the car, following Josh.

ELLIES POV (Because we need to)

“It was nice of you to drive us here Josh” I breathed out. Shuffling my feet against the cement.
“It was my pleasure” He smiled.

I had known josh for years. Even before I met Maddy. He was best friends with my brother and on the same Football team as him. I would see him over at my house all the time, and I always talked to him.

I didn’t know what to do. So I tried to look seductive and lean against the ledge. But before I could do anything, the worn out ledge gave way and I came tumbling backwards. Hitting my head against the wood.

Josh rushed over and pulled me up. “Are you okay!?” He looked at my face for any damage.
I glanced down at my bracelet. Ten seconds.

His eyes caught mine and he followed them down to my wrist. The only sound that could be heard was the noise on my timer going off. Signalling it had finished. He looked up from my arm. Staring me in the eyes.

His went off exactly the same time as mine and he tensed. “So it’s you” He whispered. I nodded, not knowing what else to do.

“I-I can’t believe it’s you” He smiled. Pulling me over to the side of the building. “My best friends sister” He mumbled.

I gulped as he stared down at my lips. “I’ve always wanted to this”

I furrowed my eyebrows, never taking my eyes off his. “What?”

“This...” He whispered before crashing his lips onto mine. His lips fit perfectly between mine. I brought my hands up to his shoulders while his hands moved down to my waist. I pushed my lips harder against his, moving them slowly. He let go of my waist and pressed his hands against the wall either side of my head.

I never knew that Josh would be my soul mate. I had always thought he was cute and funny. But I never would have thought I’d fall in love with him.

We pulled apart. Our breathing rigid as we just looked at each other. Examining each other’s facial expressions.

“Y’know, I’ve always sort of liked you” He admitted. Pressing his forehead against mine. I laughed. “So have I” He smiled and moved back from me, extending an arm out for me as I kindly took it. Now I know what Liberty was talking about. How when you finally meet your soul mate, you get this warm fuzzy feeling in your tummy. Your heart warms and a surge of energy rushes through you.

We entwined our fingers. Walking side by side and over to the car.

Once we reached a sensible distance from the car. I could see the faint facial expressions of the girls, Brodie and Elliot.

“It’s Josh?” Maddy said in disbelief. I simply nodded, looking at her with pleading eyes to be okay about this. It wasn’t my choice after all.

But my judgement was wrong. A wide grinned curved onto her lips and she clapped her hands together. I could see Liberty in the back looking at her phone, grinning at me.

“I’m so happy for you Ells! And of course you too Joshy” Maddy squealed.

He huffed and let go of my fingers, “Okay okay, let’s hit the road”

He tried to act tough, but I could see the small, pink stains on his cheeks.

Oh my god my hands hurt from writing so much! this is six pages on word and like 2,650 words!
