The Love Countdown

one;

WOOOOOOOO New stories are always my fav, comment, vote and subscribe too ! xxx

------------------------ Chapter One.

I drummed my fingers against the cold marble table to the beat of a familiar tune that was playing out of the speakers around the coffee shop. I watched a boy about 5 years older than me walk through the door, and my mood quickly improved. He had short blonde hair with brown roots at the bottom, perfectly styled into a quiff. He looked flawless. He had gorgeously straight teeth; he probably had braces once before in his life, and striking blue eyes. Judge me for being into older guys, I don't even care.

“Can I help you?” I asked. He looked up at the blackboard above my head pondering on what to order.
“Can I please get 2 Lattes, one Ice chocolate with extra cream, and 2 Cappuccinos?” his voice had the hint of an Irish accent, which intrigued me even more.

“Loving the view?” I cut my eye rape a little short, and slowly peered up underneath my eyelashes. My cheeks turned tomato red, as he chuckled. I tried to cover my little intense breakdown up by asking him what milk he wanted.

“Skim or full cream milk?” I asked the young boy at the counter, “Full cream in all of them please” he smiled while I lazily typed something into the cash register. I tried to get a quick glance at the arm band on his left wrist, but missed it. I sighed to myself and said goodbye to the young boy who probably already had a girlfriend, considering I have to wait a slow and painful journey to find my… ‘Soul mate’. I couldn’t help but hear the calling of his name from a different person. “Hurry up Niall! The boys are already at the studio!”
I ran my hand over my face and tapped a beat with my fingers again.

I looked at the clock upon the wall and felt a wave of relief wash over me; I walked over to my boss and knocked on his office door.

“I’m going Val, have fun without me” I giggled and he shook his head. “See you on Monday Lib” I gave him one final wave and walked out of the little coffee shop. I began to walk down the pathway that lead towards my apartment, I wrapped my jacket around my body a little tighter as the cold winter air nipped at my skin. It was mid-winter, and freezing its face off.

Once I was at the apartment block, I raced into the elevator, and was immediately filled with warmth. I smiled and thanked the lord I had paid the heating bill this month, not that I don’t anyway. As I walked down the corridor to my apartment, I stared down the little green bracelet lined with blue, watching the numbers countlessly tick down, down, down, until it would start all over again. I felt a tear roll down my cheek and hit my hand.

I was lonely. I wanted someone to hurry up and fall in love with me, so I wouldn’t have to stare at the annoying little bracelet on my arm. 1 Month : 2 Days : 1 Hour : 45 Minutes : 29 Seconds the little timer read. I closed my eyes and let out a depressing sigh. I immediately opened them again when I realised I was at my doorstep. I pushed the golden key into the hole and twisted it. I walked down the hallway of my home and sat my belongings onto the kitchen bench.

I slid my converse off and put them next the counter, walking over to the various cupboards searching for something to eat. Choosing a simple stir fry, I got all the ingredients that I needed and started to prepare my meal.

I heard the ringtone of my iPhone go off and paced over to the island bench and picked up the phone.

“Hullo?”

“Liberty! It’s Maddy! 8:00, the comedy channel! The Alan Carr show is going to be in and my favourite boys are going to be on!” she screamed down the phone and I had to pull the phone away from my ear a little bit.

Okay Maddy, I have to go, I’m eating food.” I smiled and laughed before hanging up the phone.

Once I had finished cooking, I sat on the couch in front of the TV, the tough, white, leather of the couch sticking to my legs. I flicked it over to the comedy channel to be greeted by the faces of five young boys around 19 and 20. I turned the sound up a little more, and eagerly ate my dinner while watching The Alan Carr Show. I looked curiously at the the blonde one, feeling like I knew his face from somewhere, but brushed it off.

“So Harry” Alan gestured to the young boy who looked about 18 with brown curly hair and green eyes, “I heard you’re eager to settle down, is that true? What was the countdown again?” I watched on, not really interested in the story, just watching it for the sake of it. “Uhm, I’ll check” I watched who I presumed was Harry, lift the arm of his blazer up and look at the fine bracelet on his right arm.

“1 Month : 2 Days : 1 Hour : 23 Minutes : 11 Seconds”

I perked my head up once he had finished speaking, staring down at the arm band on my own arm, I felt something deep in my stomach start to form.

My breath hitched, and the hold on my fork tightened.

Harry and I had the exact same countdown.

This wasn’t happening. It couldn’t be, Harry Styles? I suddenly remember where I’ve heard that name from, him and his four best mates in a boy band; what were they called again? Mirror Reflection? One Dissection? I couldn’t remember. I was hyperventilating, I didn’t know what to do, know that I knew I was actually going to be in love with someone and know that they fully well love me back was too much to handle.

If I was supposedly going to fall in love with this boy, I had to do something about it. But something made me stop; it was as if a memory flashed back into my brain.

Flashback.

“Liberty, I have something very important to tell you” my mother said as she sat next to me at the breakfast table.

“One day, you’re going to fall in love. Forever.” She stopped before continuing. “This little bracelet on your arm will tell you when, so don’t try and cut it off with scissors or anything” she laughed and drank some of her tea.

“The bracelet on your arm will lead you to wherever you need to be to find your soul mate, don’t go searching for him, he’ll be brought to you. I promise”

End of Flashback.

My Mum was right. I didn’t need to go searching for this so-called Harry boy. I would be brought to him. But it suddenly hit me like a tonne of bricks that the boy band lived in London. I would have to move to there? It didn’t really faze me, I lived in Doncaster, and so it was okay.

I felt my eyelids start to get droopy, my head rolling back against the couch and almost falling asleep. I decided it was best to go to bed and get some rest. I put my dishes in the sink and cleaned them up.

I walked over to my bedroom and stripped off into my pjs, a black singlet with skimpy Pyjama shorts. I curled up into a ball underneath the blanket of my double bed, the thought of Harry still whirling around in my head.

A month and a few days is all it’s going to take for someone to fall in love with me.

And I was petrified.
