THE DEATH OF ME

Harry's POV

I didn't bring Cassie with me to the show, knowing if I will, they would ask of her to come up on stage, and she can't handle that kind of publicity, and I don't think she even wants to.

In a few moments I'll be called up, and I already know what I'll be asked about.
"Don't worry Harry, just dodge the questions about her and you'll be fine," Ed assures me. He is the closing act of the night, which is quiet calming to know I have him here with me.
"Mr. Styles, you're up," Someone calls my name. I nod, thanking him, and Ed taps my shoulder for good luck.

When I walk down the stairs there is this loud music playing and Alan is waiting below with his arms spread for a hug. He is a funny looking man, and once I reach him we embrace like long lost friends.

"Harry it has been too long my friend," He says taking a seat on his couch.
"I know right? When was it we met last?" I grin at him.
"I think it was last year at some party wasn't it?" He questions.
"Might have been yeah," I reply.
"What do you mean might have been? How wasted were you?" He exclaims.
"Pretty wasted if I can't remember," I chuckle.
"You had to have been there, even when he is slurring he's a sight to be seen, but I was a good boy, didn't take advantage," he tells the crowd getting a laugh out of them.

"What would you drink love?" He turns back to me, "I have all kinds of specials,"
"Water is great thanks," I answer, remembering what happened last time I drank.
"Scared of me? I won't try anything in front of all these people dear, very well, water it is you pussy," He says, getting the crowd laughing again.

"So you just won a huge race this week haven't you?" He inquires.
"You knew that since it has been all over the papers, hasn't it?" I smirk.
"You cheeky bastered, how could anyone miss such a photo- your lips all over this blonde chick," Alan throws his hands up in the air, the photo he is speaking of appears on the screen, making the crowd giggle, and I can't help but join in.
"Well, spill! I want to hear all about it love," Alan pleads.
"There is nothing to tell really," I smile.
"Keeping her all to yourself then? Sharing is caring you know!"
"What about you Alan? Anyone new in your life?" I try to change the subject.
"Changing the subject are we? alright, I can play along," Alan lies on his sofa, as if he is in therapy, getting another giggle from the crowd.
"No seriously though, she's mighty pretty that one, I couldn't see much since you were grabbing all of her- and she is a tinny one ain't she? But from what I could tell she is a sight to be seen," Alan says.
"She is, she's beautiful, and lovely and smart," I can't help but compliment Cassie, just thinking of her makes me smile.
"Look at the dreamy face god, that is an upgrade ain't it? Before her you were with that what's her face? Lola? yeah.. didn't like her," Alan waves his hand while pulling a face making the crowd burst in laughter.
"She's all right," I try, not wanting to sound as if I'm badmouthing her.
"She was a drama queen that one, but your new girl- what is her name?" Alan inches closer, and I grin.
"What are you smiling at? Her name- what is it? Cassie right? How did you meet her?" Alan asks.
"Well it was quite a funny story actually," I decide it won't hurt to tell them, since they already know about her.
"Do tell then- what are you waiting for?" Alan pushes me along.
"So this one day I’m strolling down the street yeah?" I tell the crowd.
"What do you mean strolling?" Alan questions.
"I was taking a walk, and there were two officers eating a Danish and I took it out of one's hand, as he noticed who I was and ran with it," I say, making the crowd laugh.
"Harry! I thought you were telling us how you met your Cassie, not about your felonies," Alan looks appalled.
"I am, I'm getting there, so as I run I knock into someone-"
"Gosh you knocked her over? Shame on you Harry- Shame on you," Alan is shocked, and the crowd is laughing again.
"Well you see, she is so small, it was hard to see here there," I explain, making Alan and the crowd laugh again.
"Did you help her up at least?"
"Sure! She took quite a fall though, her belongings were all over the pavement, and she ripped her jeans and her knee was bleeding," I go into details.
"What do you mean she did? You did that! You’re the one who bumped into her," Alan exclaims.
"Well yeah.."
"Are you sure she didn't hit her head?! What is she still doing with you?" Alan continues his dramatic rant.
"Yeah, she wasn't so into me at first," I chuckle.
"What changed her mind?"
"I charmed my way to her heart," I give him my cheeky smile.
"Told her you're famous did you?" Alan gives me a knowing look.
"No actually, that came much later," I laugh.
"Oh, so she didn't know who you were at first?" Alan is surprised.
"No, she liked me for me, without knowing who I was."
The crowd gives me a long Aww, to match their dreamy faces. I am Happy, managing to fix some of the damage made by the rubbish in the paper.
"Lovely, well hopefully next time you'll bring her over," Alan offers, "And you and Ben are still head to head, he still hasn't been able to break your record."
"I'm afraid not, cheers Ben," I raise my water glass to the camera, making Alan and the crowd laugh.
"Why do you hate each other so much though? Can't it be like just a friendly race and then go out for drinks?" Alan goes on.
"Well, we're alright, not drinking buddies but we're alright," I lie.
"Well this doesn't look like you're all right," Alan plays a film of me pushing Ben at our last race.
"That was uncalled for Harry, really, you should be ashamed," Alan tells me off playfully.
"I should, shouldn't I? Sorry Ben," I pout at the crowd.
"What a face, He won't be able to say no to that right lads?" Alan tells the crowd.

"We have Ed Sheeran in the back, who will come out and play in a little bit, you know of him?" Alan asks, even though he knows we are best mates.
"Sure, Ed and I go way back, he is crashing on my couch at the moment," I tell Alan.
"Really? Well let's have him join us- ladies and gentleman, please welcome the talented Ed Sheeran."
The crowd claps, and Ed comes down the stairs. He greets Alan, and then bumps my fist. I move down the sofa, to make him room closer to Alan.

"So Ed, Harry tells me you and him go way back, is that true?" Alan questions him.
"Well, yeah, you see, his mum used to pay me to keep him out of trouble," Ed smirks.
"You won't suppose to share that you twit," I tap his shoulder playfully.
"Yeah, yeah, we go way back, best mates, grew up together," Ed hurries to say getting the crowd giggling.
"So what is it? Are you best mates or was Ed your babysitter?" Alan questions confused.
"Both," Ed and I say together, making everyone laugh again.
"Blimey Harry, didn't remember you being this funny," Ed turns to me.
"Neither did I, what a nice surprise," I smile at the crowd.
"You aren't they have an ear piece telling them when to laugh out," Alan tells us, making them laugh.
"Does it tell them to laugh for you too then?" Ed questions.
"No cheeky, I am funny, god, you are an old friend of his, god help us," Alan sits up straighter.
"Truth is, I could not ask for a better friend then Ed here," I say, laying an arm over Ed's shoulders, getting an Aww from the crowd.
"Oh.. I wonder what Cassie might say about this," Alan points at our embrace.
"You've been talking haven't you?" Ed playfully whispers to me.
"She is absolutely fine with this bromance," I tell Alan, while snuggling up closer to Ed.
"She is? I like her even more now, Ed what do you think about Harry's Cassie? Is she nice?"
"Oh she is wonderful really, you know, she really doesn't care about all the racing and stuff, like she's not one of those girls who would throw a tantrum over him going away for it, or whatever, right Harry? She's really understanding," Ed says.
"Wait, who is dating her? Harry or you?" Alan asks, making the crowd laugh again.
"It wasn't funny! Why are you laughing?" I ask them, which sets them off once more.
"Shut up you cheeky bugger," Alan tells me off, "Now if you and Cassie ever break up- godforbid- Would you mind if Ed has a go at her?"
"Why would you say that?" I ask playfully shocked.
"I said godforbid! I'm only asking Harry, no need to get all cross with me cheez," Alan plays hurt.
"Would you mind though?" Ed turns to ask me.
"If I die tomorrow, and you promise to look after her and treat her like a princess then sure," I tell him, getting another Aww from the crowd.
"See, that wasn't too hard to answer was it?" Alan questions.

"So Ed you're going to sing for us now, what is the name of your song?"
"Give me love," He gets up, and we all clap.

The interview wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, even though I knew what Alan is going to ask. There were a few things he wasn't allowed to go near like Cassie's age, and about her still being in high school and the fact she is living with her Nan. And he stayed true to his word, keeping away from her personal life.
Maybe the odds aren’t against us after all. Cassie and I, we are different.
As Ed sings the only thing I think about is getting home and seeing her again.
