Twisted Wish

Chapter Four

---

Louis

---

Nobody knows how much he or she has accomplished, until the end of the day, before falling asleep. In their minds, they run through all the agendas they have completed. Check them off their mental list. For us, our band, we literally have a checklist. Each day, new arrangements were in order and must be made out. With this in mind, I couldn’t believe I attended Eleanor’s party. It doesn’t feel like it’s been a day ago, since she has asked me to come. My body was aching for sleep and relaxation.

I rubbed my eyelids trying to push the sleepiness away. I gazed around the place. Eleanor must have rented this space for one night because this building didn’t look familiar to me. There was a dance floor, in the middle of the building with people grinding and dancing, and there were multiple tables around the edges of the building where people were sitting down having a nice chat or drinking. I glanced down at my hand, which held an alcohol beverage. I can’t seem to remember what the bartender said it was called, but it had a sweet flavor to it. Delicious.

I took a sip from my drink as I scanned the room for Eleanor. Nope, there was no sign of Eleanor. Frustrated, I set down my drink at an empty table and went on a “scavenger” hunt. After all, I had nothing better to do.

One thing I want to make clear was, I wasn’t furious with Eleanor. At the beginning of this party, she told me straight up. She might be occupied with her other guests. Which, it made sense; she was the hostess. Her job was to check up on her guests, and by guests, I mean all of them. She can’t focus all of her attention on one particular person. I understood the criteria; however, I wanted to find her.

Swiftly, I squeezed by bodies making my way towards the small kitchen area. I believed that was where the last time I saw Eleanor. A few people acknowledged me, giving me a small pat on the back, nodding their heads’, or simply smiling. I appreciated it, and in doing so, I acknowledged them back. Shortly after, I spotted Eleanor conversing with a man. I tilted my head to the side trying to get a better look at the man.

“Louis!” Arms were wrapped around my torso and hand pounding against my back.

“Hey, Harry,” I answered him, hugging him back.

“Where have you been? I’ve been lookin’ for you ever since the beginning of the party,” he replied, keeping his arm around my shoulder. His warm breath was hitting my cheek. I could smell the odor of the alcohol from it.

“We came together, remember? How could you have lost me when I stayed in the same spot all night?” I asked, raising my eyebrows up.

Harry had the look of ‘oh’. “Oh, right. I should have remembered that,” he stated, as he was leaning against me, having no balance.

“Harry, how many drinks did you take?”

He brought up his hand slowly counting his fingers. Then, he grinned his cheeky smile. “About four … or was it five?” He started counting his fingers, again, taking his time remembering each one.

He grinned when he finished. “Yeah, four.”

“All right now. Harry, I don’t think you should drink anymore-”

“Why?” he asked, blinking his eyes at me.

“We have a performance in the morning, remember?”

Harry’s eyes looked up, checking to see if he did remember. He nodded his head. “Yes, I do, now.”

“Okay, well,” I glanced down at my phone that came from my pant’s pocket, “It’s nearly midnight. I think we should go home and get some sleep-”

“Gosh, Louis,” Harry cut Louis off the second time, “You are being a party pooper.”

Frustrated, I pushed Harry’s arm off of my shoulder. “I’m not being a party pooper. I just think we should probably head home soon,” I explained. My focus wasn’t on Harry anymore. I was watching Eleanor with the man. Their conversation didn’t seize, not even a little. I saw he replied to her. She let out a giggle, which she hiding it from him. However, the man noticed and chuckled along with her.

Harry pouted. “Sorry, Lou, it’s just … you seem to be distancing from the band this whole week.”

I raised my eyebrow. “What?”

“I mean, you seem to be in thought and more quiet than usual. Liam, Niall, and Zayn have noticed as well.

Are you alright, Louis?” Harry asked, curiously, placing his hand upon my shoulder.

I bit my lip. Should I tell him what’s on my mind?

I suppressed my sadness as I plastered the best smile I could come up with. “Yes, of course, Harry.”

Uneasily, Harry grinned back. “Okay, just know that we are here for you, Louis.”

“Thanks, lad,” I replied, not looking him in the eye. I didn’t like lying to him. Well it wasn’t lying, it was leaving some truth out.

“Well, I guess I should go find Niall. I thought I saw him drinking some beers with a couple of girls. He probably forgot about the performance tomorrow,” Harry said.

“Okay,” I replied, Harry nodded his head, before he went off searching for Niall.

Niall was the only other one who attended with Harry and me. Liam had a date with Danielle, who had planned their date for a long time now, and Zayn didn’t feel too well to attend. Hopefully, he will be up and running tomorrow for the performance.

I turned around to look at Eleanor, the reason why I walked over here in the first place. She looked elegant in her simply black dress: the dress came down to her knees, the backing was a v- shape showing off her back, and the dress fit her showing her curves. She wore dangly earrings that sparkle in the spotlights that were twirling around. She wore a pair of high heel shoes, which enhanced her lovely legs. I glanced up to see the man she was talking to; he seemed to be enjoying the view.

Making my way over, I wrapped my arms around Eleanor’s waist. “Hello, love,” I mumbled into her ear. I heard a giggle escape her lips.

“Why, hello, there handsome,” she replied, turning around wrapping her arms behind my head.

“How are you?”

“I’m fine,” she answered. I leaned in to kiss her warm pink lips, “But I believe we are being rude.” She turned her head, causing me to miss her lips.

“Louis, this is William. William, this is my boyfriend, Louis,” she introduced me to him.

“Hello,” I greeted, holding out my hand.

“Pleasure to meet you,” he said, shaking my hand.

Shortly afterwards, he took his hand back noticing the signal I was telling him. “I see you need some time catching up. I will get out of your hair, now.” Without hesitation, William left Eleanor and me alone. I snuggled up against Eleanor whispering into her ear, “Finally, I was hoping he would get the hint.”

I kissed, slowly, up and down her exposed neck.

She chuckled. I could feel it vibrate through her neck. “What am I going to do with you?” she teased, taking my head in her hands and looking into my eyes.

“Well,” I stopped kissing her neck, “I don’t know for starters. You could give me a real kiss, before you rudely interrupted me.”

Eleanor grinned. “Fine,” she said. She leaned in placing her lips on top of mine. It was not short, even though Eleanor thought it would be. In the beginning, it was soft, sweet, and warm, almost hot. As she was pulling away I placed my hand behind her neck. I heard her make ‘ooh’ noise. I used it to my advantage to explore her mouth. We haven’t had a make out session in forever. Eleanor played along kissing me back with the same passion.

All to soon, we separated. Eleanor had her hand upon my cheek as she was gazing into my eyes. She was breathing heavily and so was I. I rubbed the back of her neck while taking my last look into her eyes. It will be a few months later, until I see them again. I gently grazed my fingertip over Eleanor’s bottom lip, letting out a sigh.

“Is everything okay, Louis?” she asked, concern detected in her voice.

“Of course,” I declared, “Why wouldn’t I be?”

She was searching my eyes for the answer. True answer.

“You are lying,” she confronted me.

Concern was upon her face.

“Please, Louis, don’t lie to me.”

I bit my bottom lip. I should tell her the truth.

My grin disappeared and what replaced it, it was a frown.

“Okay,” I said, “I will tell you the truth.”

Eleanor waited patiently for my explanation. I relaxed my shoulders as I took a deep breath in. “Don’t you wonder what it would be like if I didn’t have to be billions of miles away from you or even my family? What it would be like to stay in England?”

Eleanor’s eyes blinked rapidly to his response. “I’m sorry, Louis. I’m not following. What do you mean?”

“I mean,” I restated, “I don’t want to be away from you, Eleanor, or my family. It’s not because I don’t love performing for the fans. It’s just I feel like I’m missing everything when I’m away.”

Eleanor took my hand. “Listen to me,” she declared, “You are not missing everything. You spend your time here with us a lot. Yes, sometimes, you travel around on tour to visit your fans. But, don’t think that you are missing everything. Okay?”

When I didn’t reply, she placed her hands on my face. “Alright?” she repeated, again.

“Yes,” I muttered, nodding my head.

“Good,” she claimed.

I let out a sigh, once more. “Sorry, Eleanor. I have to go. Tomorrow, we have a performance.”

“Of course,” she said, “I understand,” she wrapped her arms around my torso, giving me chills. “See you later.”

With that, she disappeared into the crowd of people who were enjoying themselves. I stood there in that spot wondering if I made the right decision of telling her … and not Harry. I ran my fingers through my hair. What Eleanor said was true, but there was something in me that wasn’t fulfilled.

What if, I am missing something important … and she isn’t telling me.

I placed my hands in my pockets.

What if, my mum gets sick … then I can’t be home with her.

I shook my head trying to get all the “what ifs” out of my head. But, they kept coming like a waterfall.

What if, Eleanor finds another person.

I groaned, frustrated with myself coming up with ridiculous ideas. I gazed down at the hard, cold floor.

… I wish I could relax and not as busy, so I can have time to be with my family, friends, and Eleanor. If only …

“Louis!” I looked up to see Harry with Niall standing next to him.

“Come on, it’s time to go!” he shrieked over the loud music and waved me over.

“Alright, coming!” I hollered back and ran over there heading home.

Along with another person, I wished … I wished for something that would never happen. I didn’t think anyone was listening to me. However, I thought I heard a faint whisper in my ear, as I was getting into the car, saying:

“You’re wish is my command.”
