Half a Heart

Coffee Incident

Beep beep. BEEP BEEP. Ugh. I hate mornings. I reach over and slam my hand down on my alarm clock that is making the most irritating sound. Satisfied that it turned off, I rolled back over pulling the sheets around me closer and snuggling in my bed.
It felt like I had been laying there for about a minute before Tori came crashing into my room and jumping onto my bed on top of me. I let out a loud groan, trying to push her off of me.
"Noraaaaaaa! Get up! You're going to be late!" She said keeping her balance on top of me.
"No, I'm not. It's only 6:30." I sighed giving up on trying to push her off and just burried my face in my pillows.
"Hun. It's fucking 7:30 right now..."
"Shit!" and with that I practically flew across the room to my bathroom, thanking God that I took showers at night, I put on a little concealer, some eyeliner, golden eye shadown, and mascara. I ran to my closet, searching for something to wear. I pulled out a pair of grey, knee high, heeled boots, a black shirt that hung loosely on my body, and a pair of skinny jeans. I grabbed the ponytail off of my wrist tying my hair up in a messy bun, grabbed my purse and raced down the stairs, Tori following closely behind.
"What was my record?" I asked smiling and a little more giddy and awake from running around my room.
"It took you about five minutes." She said shoving me into the kitchen with a matching smile on her face.
Sweet. That was my almost my all time best.
You see this happens a lot. I stay up too late, turn off my alarm in the morning because I'm still exhausted, thinking I lay there for only a few minutes when in reality I oversleep and have to get ready quickly. My best was about four and half minutes. I almost ran into Jaycee walking quickly through the kitchen to grab my house keys.
Tori and Jaycee were my roomates and also my best friends since we were in dipers. We were pretty much inseperable, so when we graduated we decided what the hay we should just live together since we were all going to the same university. This coming year was our second year at Uni, but right now it was summer, and today I had to work at my internship for Fabulous magazine. Pretty much I ran around got people coffee and food, took calls from my little cramped office, and if I was lucky join in on some important meetings. I was hoping one day soon they would let me write an article about someone or something I had tons of ideas. Just not the time I guess. And I had to be there by 8:30 am, and I was expected to bring coffee to everyone in the office this morning. I looked at my phone and it said it was now 7:40. Good. I think I have just enough time.
"Bye guys!" I yelled running out of the house. I barely heard them yell back as I slammed the front door shut and started walking down the busy London street. Thank the lord I lived about half a mile away from my job and that the coffee shop was on the way there. I pushed the strap of my purse around my shoulder as I tossed my keys inside. I walked a little bit faster as the morning air was a little nippy. I finally got to the coffee shop, I walked in the warmth of the indoors welcoming me.
And of course, surprise, surprise. They were swamped with costumers. All the workers new me by now and greeted me as they saw me walk in beckoning me to come to the counter and budge all these people. I shook my head and they waved their busy hands at me to come forward. Blushing slightly I walked to the register.
"The usual today Nora?" Paul asked. I couldn't help but notice how cute he was with his sandy blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes. I blushed again noticing I was kind of staring at him.
"Yes. When aren't I getting the usual Paul?" I said back, welcoming a little bit of sass into my attitude.
He chuckled slightly, winking at me and starting on my order. Three lattes, four mochas, and 1 chocolate chip muffin with a cookie crumble coffee chiller for me. Mouth full right? I pulled out money to give to him as he rang me up and handed me a carrying case for the drinks and my chocolate muffin so I could eat it on my three block walk. I looked at my phone 8:05. I could do this.
"Keep the change," I said to Paul spinning around on my heels and walking out the crowded door. I took a sip of my coffee and a bite of my muffin as I turned the corner from the shop, and running right into someone. I dropped my muffin and coffee on the ground. Awesome there goes my breakfast. Thankfully it didn't spill on me, and the rest were safe in the bag. But I still drew in a heavy sigh looking down at my spilled breakfast. I looked up angrily at the person who caused this incident. But I was slightly shocked to meet the eyes of a curly haired, green eyed boy, who looked genuinly shocked and sorry. Noticing the look on my face a little bit of fear flickered on his face.
"I am so sorry! Oh my gosh let me get you another one. I should have looked where I was going. I am so sorry!" He rambled as he picked up the remains of my breakfast and threw it in the trash. I stopped him from going inside.
"It's fine really. You don't have to get me a new one. I have to get going anyway." I said a little too bitterly.
"But...I just spilled your breakfast. It's the most important meal of the day you know and I wouldn't want you to go without it." I could see a flicker of embarassment across his face as he realized what he just said. My anger subsiding from the fact that he was sorry for what he had done, and was trying to make up for it.
"No seriously, it is totally fine. I will hopefully survive my deprivation of my most important meal." I teased him as a small smile rested on his face.
"Alright, alright. I will let it slide this time. But there has to be some way I can make it up to you." He said staring straight into my eyes. My breath hitched in my throat looking up into his.
Stumbling for words I finally go out, "Fine. I will give you my number, but then I really have to go." His smile turned huge at my response as I took his phone and entered my number in it. I handed it back to him, and gave him a smile and walked around him. Praying I wouldn't be late for work.
I walked into work at about 8:20 and handed everyone their coffees getting thankyous as I went. I delivered the last to my boss who told me that I had some messages I had to take for her and files I had to put into the computer while she was in an all day meeting.
Sighing I took a seat at my small desk and started up the computer when my phone buzzed inside my pocket.

Unkown number:
Nora? Dinner @ 8? Meet at coffee shop. xx Harry

Me:
Sure, sounds great.

With a smile I set down my phone and looked at the stack of papers in front of me. This was going to be a long day.

*Present*

My alarm was going off. I opened my eyes and sat up trying to wake myself fully from another dream about my ex Harry Styles.
