Chapter 17

Breakfast went by excruciatingly slow and sitting next to Zayn was complete torture. After an almost end to this damn dry spell I had to sit and pretend like I wanted to be out with everyone, when all I wanted, was to be locked in a room with Zayn for a couple of hours. I did my best to keep my eagerness in check but a girl couldn't help herself, teasing him was hilarious. I'd rub my hand against his thigh and hold back laughs when he would squirm. Louis would ask him if he was alright and Zayn would just blame it on his lack of sleep. Then I would receive a glare from him which only made it funnier to me. Teasing is so much fun.

Liam started up a conversation with the guys, something about the meetings that they had to attend when they got back to London. That led to them going from casual to business in a second. I had to admit Niall completely dominated the conversation, sounding like a damn dictionary with million dollar words. Not implying that he wasn't intelligent by any means but I thought Liam was for sure the 'head' of the boys. I knew for sure Bridgette would lose her damn mind along with her panties if he was that dominating in the bedroom. Someone could actually be just as sexual as her. My phone along with Graces phone began ringing simultaneously. We exchanged curious looks before answering our phones. I checked the caller ID, it was the office.

"Excuse me, I need to take this." I whispered to whoever was listening.

Zayn glanced over at me and nodded. I stood and grabbed my jacket but before I could pull it off the chair Zayns hand covered mine. I looked at him curiously and he motioned for me to come closer.

"What's up?" I asked leaning against the chair.

"Don't think you are getting away with your naughty little stunts." His voice low and fucking inviting as ever. "You're going to get it when we get back to the room Sweets." He smirked.

This man is unbelievable. He couldn't even begin to understand how turned on I was. His voice alone sent my lower region into a damn frenzy.

"Zayn, don't threaten me with a good time." I purred in his ear.

His eyes widened for a moment, probably from realizing that I was definitely willing to accept my 'punishment'. Hell I was willing to ditch breakfast and leave right now but I didn't want the others to know what was going on between Zayn and I. Not to be rude but it's no one else's business. I held up my ringing phone and he let go. When I stepped outside Grace was frantically speaking into her phone, for Grace to act like that it had to have been something serious. When I finally answered the phone a voice was speaking a million miles per second.

"Hello?"

"Ms. Slate I know you're out of the country and I know Sarah is on the phone with Grace but there's an emergency!" My receptionist Katrina rambled.

"Trina?" I calmly said.

"Yes Ms. Slate?" Her voice strained.

"Take a breath." I heard her take a deep breath in. "Now slowly back out."

"Ok, I'm ok" much better.

"Alright now what's going on?"

"Apparently the model that you had words with yesterday went to the press and made you out to be a, and I quote 'Bitch on a high horse who picks on defenseless aspiring models' end quote."

"Well...she's allowed to have her own opinion." I shrugged.

"That's not the part that worries me." Her voice lowered.

"Ok then, hit me with it." Ready for whatever else this model had I say.

"She also said..."

"She said what Katrina?" I raised my voice a bit. Grace got off the phone and stood directly in front of me. Her eyes were wide and she was biting her lip.

"Alana" her voice was quiet in almost a whisper.

"Hold on" I held up a finger to Grace. "Katrina what else did she say?"

"She uh...she said 'She's just jealous that Dean left her for me so she's trying to ruin my career'."

I was silent. I had no words. No words that had any good intentions. The girl that Dean had been cheating on me with. The stupid whore who's panties were in my house. The bitch who took away my happiness.

"Ms. Slate?" Katrina hesitantly spoke.

I gave the phone to Grace and walked away. I needed to be away from people. I needed space, my anger would surely get me into trouble. I need to be alone.

"Alana! Where are you going?" Grace yelled.

"For a walk. I'll see you at the hotel later." I waved her off.

I walked down a couple blocks and I still felt the need to punch someone. She was right in front of me, and I had no clue who she was. For all I knew she was a model with a bad attitude. When I told her who I was her face said it all now that I think about it. She probably thought I knew who she was and was just finding a way to talk shit to her. Trust me, had I known who she was I would have gladly shoved a hot curling iron down her throat. I wasn't worried that she told the press that I was a bitch, I was use to people saying that. If anything she set herself up for the ending of her brief career. You don't come after me and expect me to hide away and do nothing. As much as I wanted to beat the shit out of her I had a few things in mind I could do. She would have her five minutes of fame and I would put her in her place. I wasn't joking about having her ass out out of modeling. I found myself walking in a park and ended up sitting on a tree stump that had been carved into a chair. The cool breeze had picked up a bit, the leaves that fallen to the ground skid across the pavement. I let my mind clear from all the bullshit that was going on.

'Don't give in to it'

My grandpas voice rung in my head. Why didn't I bring my phone with me, I could call him and everything would be ok. He would reassure me that I'm ok, that I don't need to fall back into my old ways. It was like this year was testing me, every turn I took there was an obstacle that stood in my way. I don't know how many times I've told myself that the dark place I was in wasn't good for me. As much as it made me feel good, made me feel like that was my purpose in life, made me feel...anything. I was good at it. I was better at doing that than anything else, and that's the hard part. When you figure out what you're good at you want to do that for the rest of your life. Right?

Zayns POV

Grace came back in and I could tell something was wrong. She kept looking at her phone texting someone. Wait. That's Alana's phone. I looked outside and didn't see her anywhere.

"Grace, where's Alana?" I asked looking around the restaurant.

"Uhm...she went for a walk." She never looked at me, only focused on her phone.

"A walk? What happened?" She wouldn't just walk off without saying a word. She sighed and dropped the phone on the table and put her face in her hands.

"Well there was an incident with a model at the show yesterday. Alana kind of went off on her and she went to the press talking bad about her." She looked out the window the whole time she spoke.

"That's unfortunate, but it doesn't sound that bad." Louis said placing an arm around Grace trying to comfort her.

"Yeah that's not the bad part." She leaned in to Louis. "Niall could you get ahold of Bridgette for me please?"

"Yeah sure." He pulled out his phone. We all gave her questioning looks when she asked for Bridgette. She took notice and began explaining.

"So that model...turns out that she was the girl Dean cheated on Alana with." A frown covered her face. "She went on to say that Alana was just jealous that Dean chose her over Alana."

We didn't even know how to respond to that. It was completely out of left field.

"Bridgette knows her the best and I need to know what to do." She glanced at Niall to see if he got ahold of her.

"She's not answering but I left her a message." He said while sending Bridgette a text.

"It's ok Niall, thanks." She sighed.

"Which way did she go?" I asked. Maybe I could go after her and see if she was alright.

"I'm not sure. I think she just needs some time alone. She said she'd see us back at the hotel." She shrugged.

"Grace is right, once she clears her head she'll come back." Liam assured me.

I just nodded and looked back out the window. I worried about her, walking around aimlessly just to clear her head. The rest of us finished up but the somber mood definitely made it's mark seeing how we all kept quiet or had short conversations. Grace and Louis decided to go off and explore a little while the rest of us went back to the hotel. Niall kept trying to get ahold of Bridgette, Liam was on the phone with his P.A. about the upcoming meetings and Harry and I just sat in silence. We each went to our own rooms to relax a little bit, but I found myself unable to just sit in my room. I was pacing back and forth, looking out on the balcony and checking my phone. Not a word from her. A couple of hours had passed and she still wasn't back. We would all text each other to see if any of us heard from her, still nothing. I hope she's ok, why didn't she take her phone? Just as I put my phone down it rang. I quickly picked it back up but before I answered I noticed the caller I.D.. Not the person I was expecting. Do I answer? Why am I even considering it?! I declined the call and threw the phone on the bed. Not even a few seconds later it rang again. I checked the caller I.D. and again...decline. At this point it was pissing me off, why all of a sudden this person was calling. The phone began ringing again, I was about to decline but maybe it was an emergency.

"What do you want Stella."

HARRYS POV

I really needed a drink, Alana missing has had me stressed out since Grace told us. I knew that was a big blow to her, to find out that the girl her fiancé cheated on her with was right in front of her face...and not even know it. From what Grant had told me I knew Alana had a temper, a bad one at that. Very few people could calm her down and since none of them were here, walking it off seemed like a good idea. I wanted to find her, run all up and down the streets to look for her but...that's what Zayn should be doing. He shouldn't have just let her go off by herself. He could have caught up to her and be there to comfort her. I only grew more irritated by the fact that he should have done more. I grabbed my things and decided to find a pub. As I reached the elevator I saw Niall walking down the hall.

"Hey mate, where you off to?" He asked.

"Have a drink, want to come?" I offered, Niall was the best to drink with. He could hold his alcohol and have a good time.

"A drink sounds good. Let me grab my wallet." He turned to his room and came back within a minute.

We walked out of the hotel and started in the direction the concierge had told us to go. Niall had told me that Bridgette said to let Alana cool off, she'd come back when she's ready.

"How is Bridgette?" I asked.

"Great. She's a feisty one, but a complete lover." His smile was one of a person who was happy. Completely happy.

"I'm happy for you mate. The girls will be absolutely heartbroken to see their little Irish boy finally found him a girlfriend." I nudged his arm.

"It was inevitable." He laughed. "So, you and Alana?"

"Just friends." I quickly said.

"Really? I get the feeling that..."

"Nope. It's her and Zayn." I shook my head and pursed my lips.

"Hmm. Well I suppose. Is that what you want?" He looked at me raising his brow. "Ya know her with someone else?"

"I want her to be happy Niall. I screwed up my chances and...well that's the end of that." I deeply sighed reliving the night Alana saw me and Charlie, and Liam and I almost fought.

"Zayn will make her happy." I felt like I said it to remind myself. Niall just nodded and changed the subject.

The streets were filled with more locals than tourists. We didn't have to walk much further to find the pub we were looking for. It was pretty crowded, laughter and conversations were heard as soon as we walked in. There was a group of people towards the back where karaoke was taking place. Niall and I sat down and ordered our beers along with a couple shots to start our night.

"Cheers mate." Niall held up his bottle.

"Cheers!" Our bottles clanked against each other.

By our third round we had made some new friends and moved to a table. These guys were locals and were telling us about their night, there was a fight at the pub next door and it was crazy. It was a girl on girl fight.

"I've seen a lot of fights in my day, but this girl...she could fight like a man. She was running circles around the other girl!" He stared off while recapping the fight. "And you would never expect it coming from her, I mean she's not tiny but she's not a big girl."

"I know someone like that!" Niall instantly smiled and so did I. "My friend Alana! She knocked a guy twice her size down. Had I not been there I don't know if I would've believed it to be honest." I don't know if I would've believed it either. My Alana was definitely a fighter, but only when necessary.

"That would be a good match then. I think True is still here actually." The local named Marco looked around the room.

"True?" Niall asked.

"Oh that's the her name. Ah! She's singing karaoke!" he whistled and cheered for her.

Niall and I turned to see her but the crowd was so big that we couldn't. We only heard her voice. The music started and I knew it instantly. Journey.

"Just a small town girl Livin' in a lonely world She took the midnight train Goin' anywhere Just a city boy Born and raised in South Detroit He took the midnight train Goin' anywhere"

Her voice was actually really good. You could tell she's had a couple of drinks but she could definitely hold a note. The crowd built up even more and now she was impossible to see. Marco and his friends were clapping and taking swigs of their beers while Niall and I followed their lead.

"Strangers waiting Up and down the boulevard Their shadows searching In the night Streetlight people Livin' just to find emotion Hidin' somewhere in the night"

There was a break in the crowd and for a split second I thought I saw Alana, but before I could get a closer look the gap closed. It couldn't be Alana, she wouldn't just walk into a pub get in a fight and then sing some karaoke.

"Don't stop believin'"

The crowd broke again and I saw her. It was Alana. Belting out notes and hi fiving people in the front row.

"Hold on to that feelin"

She was piss drunk singing her heart out. I looked at Niall and he looked back at me. Smiles on both of our faces.

"Streetlight people Ohhhhhhhhhh!"

The song ended and the crowd cheered for her.

"I fucking love you guys!" She yelled and threw her hands in the air.

"Haz she's wasted." Niall laughed and whistled for her.

"Well, at least we found her and she's having a good time." I shrugged. "She seemed to have won the crowds hearts." I smiled.

"Along with yours?" Niall smirked and nudged my ribs.

"Oi! And what about yours?" I shot back playfully poking his nose.

Marco ran towards the back and called her over. "True come meet our new friends! This is..."

"Harry! Niall!" She looked back and forth between us. Her smile was enormous, bigger than I had ever seen on her before.

"You know them?" Marco pointed at myself and Niall. "You are one popular young lady you know that?"

"No silly. Marco, these are my friends! I came here on their airplane!" She held her arms out like the wings of a plane.

"Ahh! The ones you were talking about earlier. Well this deserves a round of shots!" Marco headed towards the bar.

Alana jumped into Nialls arms and nearly knocked the wind out of him. She was in a complete giggle fit. "Niall! I'm so glad you and Harry are here! Did you guys hear me sing? Ugh! I love Journey." There was a slight slur in her speech but not too bad.

"I'm glad we came too love. But what is this I hear about you fighting?" Niall did his best to put on a stern face but he's already had a couple so it was an utter fail.

"Ooohhhh. You heard about that huh?" Here eyes widened and her mouth formed and 'O'. "Well...I don't know...it just kinda happened." I raised my brow and she caught notice of it.

"She was being a fucking cunt to Marco!" She harshly yelled.

My jaw dropped and Niall lost it and was laughing . It's not too often that I hear a woman use such...words. I'm use to Niall speaking that way even Louis from time to time but Alana?

"Look at you! Get some liquor in this girl and she swears like a sailor!" Niall laughed.

"What?! It wasn't nice! Marco was nice to me all night and I wasn't going to let her act like that towards him." Her hands were moving along with her words, as if they had a language of their own.

"Well no more fighting. Understand?" Niall poked her stomach.

"Ok pinky promise!" She held out her pinky to Niall and he laughed and held out his to complete this pinky promise.

"Why are they calling you True?" I asked.

"That's my middle name, you can't just go around a strange town and tell people you're first name." She quickly grabbed Nialls beer and downed it.

"Oi! That was mine!" Niall playfully yelled.

"Don't worry silly goose." She raised her hand and started waving it around. "Dino! Another round please!" She showed off that beautiful smile. The bartender nodded and gave her a more than friendly smile.

"You sure did make a lot of friends didn't you?" I asked looking at this new bartender friend.

"Oh my gosh Harry! I'm sorry!" She practically jumped from Nialls lap to mine. "I didn't give you a hug!" She squeezed me tightly and I laughed at her enthusiasm.

"I forgot how much of a hugger you are." And wrapped my arms around her.

"Are you saying I don't give you enough hugs Styles? I am the number one hugger! The queen of hugs!" She ranted.

"That is exactly what I'm saying Alana True. You've been depriving me." I was staring directly into her eyes.

She raised her brow and bit her lip. She bit her fucking lip. I knew all too well what that meant. Her hips shifted on my lap and my hands automatically moved down her waist. No. She's drunk. She wants Zayn, not me.

"Alana." I warned.

She just looked away, I couldn't see the expression on her face. Before I could say a word Marco came with a tray full of shots. "Shots for everyone!" He cheered.

Alana stood up and grabbed a glass. She raised it in the air and yelled out, "This is to all of my news friends!"

Then put the glass to her mouth and threw her head back. No grimace from the taste of liquor. No chaser. Only the request for another. Niall suggested they take a break and have her tell us where she went during brunch. She agreed but only after sneaking another shot. There was no eye contact between us, it was like she was ignoring me. She went on about how she walked around and ended up at a park and then managed to find the pub next door. Even though she was sitting right next to me, it felt as if she were miles away. Why was she acting like this? Like I wasn't right here having drinks with everyone.

"Next round of shots!" The bartender announced.

At this point I was surprised Alana was still standing. I had slowed down and only drank my beer while the rest continued on with shot after shot. When I looked at the tray, there were enough shots to go around our group four times. Alana immediately grabbed two glass of the clear liquid and threw them back one after the other. She became a little wobbly after the second one but steadied herself by leaning against the table.

"Alana, I think you've had enough." I stood and spoke in her ear.

"Don't be such a Debbie downer Styles." Her voice full of sarcasm.

"Please love? Enough for tonight."

Hopefully hearing me slightly beg would make her stop. She finally looked at me, but her eyes...they looked the darkest I've ever seen. Without breaking eye contact she reached for a shot glass and took it right in front of me. Some of the liquid ran down the side of her mouth so she took her thumb and wiped it off only to put it in her mouth...slowly licking off the liquid.

"Waste not...want not." She slowly stated. She was doing this on purpose. Getting this drunk was dangerous, she could get alcohol poisoning.

"Alana" I sighed.

"I'm only having a good time, what's wrong with that?" She nonchalantly said pulling her hair up into a ponytail.

"You are completely wasted. I think we should go." I glanced at the clock, it was only 11pm. Only 11? It felt like 3am.

"Nahhhhh I'll pass." She scrunched her nose.

"Stop it!" I warned. Her eyes narrowed on mine.

"Or what?" She challenged. "Last time I checked I was free to do who and whatever I want."

The tension between the two of us was thick. Neither one of us was backing down. Niall stepped in between us and put his arms around our necks.

"Hey hey hey! Come on now, we're having a good time!" He cheerfully said. Which earned him a glare from me and a smile from Alana.

"Thank you! See? Bridgette picked herself a good one." She pinched Nialls cheek. "Guess she has better judgement than me." She looked directly at me when she spoke.

A song came on and Alana ran straight towards the bar. She started talking to some girls that were there and kept pointing up. What the hell was she up to?

"Haz just let her be. If she starts getting belligerent we'll take her back." Niall held up his beer.

"She's already at that point Niall." I sighed. "I don't want her to-" I was cut off by the massive amount of cheering and whistling. Niall and I both looked around the pub to see what all the fuss was. Niall nudged me and pointed at the bar. Girls were standing on the bar dancing to a song. Four girls swaying their hips to Def Leppard. Marco and his friends were cheering on the girls, yelling out a mix of 'Oh yeahs!' and "Wooooos!'.

"There ya go mate, enjoy the show!" Niall yelled. I shook my head and laughed a bit. I grabbed a shot glass and held it up to Niall. He grinned and got one as well.

"Cheers mate!" Niall announced. As soon as we slammed the glasses on the table the roar of the crowd stopped us. I took a quick look at the bar and if they could have, my eyes would have fallen out of the socket.

"Bloody fucking hell!" I groaned.

"What?!" Niall looked at me. I nodded towards the girls dancing on top of the bar. His eyes widened. "What is she doing?!"

Alana was standing in the middle of the girls and she had a bottle of vodka firmly gripped in her hand. She had taken off her shirt and was just wearing her bra, luckily her jeans were those high waisted ones so not that much of her stomach was showing. But still, too much for all these people to see. All these men had their eyes on her and for the first time since that night in Vegas, I felt something...rage. She groped every one of the girls as she made her way up and down the bar which made the men go crazy. Shaking her hips seductively for everyone to see like it was a damn strip tease.

'C'mon, take a bottle, shake it up Break the bubble, break it up'

Alana began to mimic the words of the song by shaking up the bottle in her hand. A girl got on her knees right in front of her, the girls eyes level with Alana's hips. Alana began thrusting her hips forward and that made men in the crowd go wild.

'Pour some sugar on me Ooh, in the name of love'

Alana tipped the bottle causing a stream of liquor to spill into the girls mouth.

'Pour some sugar on me C'mon, fire me up'

Alana then walked down the bar and poured the bottle in to the mouths of the men who were closest to her.

'Pour your sugar on me Oh, I can't get enough'

She then poured the liquor into her own mouth. It spilled down her chin and on to her chest causing her breasts to glisten in the light.

"I'm hot, sticky sweet From my head to my feet, yeah!"

She sang, dragging her fingers along the sides of her body. I can't watch this anymore. I don't know what's gotten in to her. I know the news from earlier would have been off putting but to go on a binge like this? Surely with the amount of alcohol she's consumed she'd be on her ass by now. Or even worse, she could have alcohol poisoning. Not to mention all of these dogs drooling at the sight of her are dying to touch her.

"Come on, we need to leave." I yelled to Niall. "You get her down, she won't fight you." If I tried to get her down she'd argue or fight or just ignore me. But she'll do anything for him. Niall nodded and I ordered another round for Marco and the other lads.

"Thanks for the fun Marco. You lads take care!" I waved. I turned for the door but stopped when I saw Niall carrying Alana over his shoulder. "What happened?!" Did she fall? Did she pass out?

"Easy mate, she just said she's tired." Relief flooded over me. "But can you grab her, I need to take a wee." I nodded and took her from him and said we'd meet him outside. As I walked towards the door random people were saying bye to Alana.

"Bye True!" One girl yelled.

"See you later doll!" Another girl slurred.

"Bye guys!!!" Alana yelled waving her hands dramatically.

When I stepped out the door the cold air hit us and I remembered Alana didn't have a shirt on. "Here love, put this on it's freezing outside." I pulled my jumper off and handed it to her.

"But I'm not cold." She pouted.

"I don't want you getting sick and I really don't feel like getting a scolding from Liam so please put it on." As mad as I was abut her show she just out on I had to keep my tone in check. She hesitantly took it from me and put it on. For a brief moment she smiled.

"I'll never forget this smell." she said in almost a whisper.

"What was that?" I knew what she said I just wanted to make sure.

"Your cologne. It's...uhm never mind." She shook her head. We waited outside for a few minutes but Niall was still nowhere in sight. What was taking him so long?

"Stay right here alright? I'm going to check on Niall." She nodded and sat on a chair next to the door.

I looked around the pub but didn't see his blonde hair anywhere. When I went in the toilet he wasn't there either. Where has he gone off to? I pulled out my phone to call him and luckily he answered.

"Don't worry Haz I'm on my way back to the hotel." He calmly said.

"What? Where'd you go?" I frantically asked.

"You two need some time alone to figure out what's going on." We what? "I snuck out the back. So enjoy your chat and get back safe." I could hear the smirk on his face.

He hung up before I could even say anything. He thinks Alana and I need to sort things out. But there's nothing to sort out, she's just drunk and upset...that's it. I walked back outside to find Alana smoking a cigarette. I hated that she smoked, it was terrible for her. But who am I to tell her otherwise.

"Come on love let's go." I said.

"Where my Ni-Ni at?" I laughed at her nickname for him. She looked past me searching for Niall.

"He's already gone back to the hotel. Do you want to walk or take a taxi?" I extended out my hand to her.

"Let's walk and have an adventure!" She tried to stand but all of those shots finally caught up to her. "Woah!"

"Easy love." I pulled her into me. The smell of her shampoo hit my senses instantly. Vanilla and coconut. "You alright?" I stared into her eyes waiting for an answer.

"Stop it Harry!" She shouted and let go of me. She started walking in the direction of the hotel.

"Wait a minute! What's wrong?" I yelled. She wouldn't stop walking. As I caught up to her I reached for her hand.

"No! You can't do this Harry. You have no right!" She turned around and looked at me with a face full of...anger? But what did I do?

"What's wrong Alana?" I pleaded for an answer. She only turned on her heels and stormed off. "Alana!"

"Leave me alone!" She yelled. What the hell happened!? One second she's giddy then the next she's pissed off. I reached for her hand and pulled her into an alleyway.

"Alana True, you're going to stop right now and tell me what's wrong. What did I do?!" I held her arms down and made sure she was looking at me. Her eyes began to fill with tears and her bottom lip started to quiver.

"You..." Her voice was shaky. "You can't just go and show me affection and then shrug me off like this." I was completely caught off guard.

"What?" My voice full of confusion.

"You! You fuck up, then ask to be friends again and you tell me that you would always be there for me no matter what and then completely drop that! Then you don't fight for me and just hand me to Zayn like I'm some kind of piece of property! I decide who I want to be with! You and Zayn don't get to choose for me!"

Her tears were falling freely as she yelled. All I wanted to do was hold her. Tell her I'm sorry. Explain why I did what I did.

"I'm pretty shit faced right now but I'm not stupid!" She took a deep breath.

"You make me out to be the fool Harry. And maybe I am, you throw the bait and I bite at it. But the second I take the bait you just cut it loose." She finally cut the eye contact and stared at the floor.

"Maybe what you said was right. Maybe Zayn is better for me." She sighed.

"Alana let me-"

"No Harry. It's fine. At least with Zayn the feeling is mutual. He wants to be with me. Zayn deserves my full attention. Actually he deserves so much more, but what else is there to expect from a girl who only knows heartbreak." She pushed my hands away and I didn't even fight her. As she walked away she turned back to say one last thing.

"All you're after is the chase...and I'm done trying to catch you."
