The Hitchhiker

Harry’s POV

I’m stood at the door watching her. She still hasn’t notice me here, so I take the moment to appreciate what I see.
Tyra is in short denim, the ends fried. She has on a baggie vest and her new red bikini can be seen tied behind her neck. Her hair is left to hang down her back and she has changed from her riding boots to flip flops, looking like a true stereotyped Californian girl. However, she is beautiful. She looks young, fresh and innocent, which makes every cell in my body want to stop her from going out in the minutes to come.
“Oh- I didn’t see you there- how long are you standing there?” She turns to me, her cheeks slightly flushed, not used to show off so much skin.
“Enough to be counted as a creep, come here,” I smile holding my arms open for her. She strides over, and fits right between them, perfectly.
“Are you sure about this Ty?” I whisper to the top of her head.
“Are you going to ask me that every two minutes?” She tilts her head up to me.
“Yes- until you convince me you are,” I smirk.
We’ve been through this for a few days, me checking she is still up for this plan, checking to see if she has maybe- hopefully changed her mind.
Mike has contacted her last night, and she has given him her number.
“Come on- we need to go,” She pulls me after her. Her fingers are laced with mine and holding tight, letting me know that she’s sure.
We are all in summer clothing, bathing shorts and vests, sunglasses or hats, and to anyone watching us from the outside we would look to them as a happy group on our way to the beach party.
“You are a lucky man,” Liam taps my shoulder, smiling at Tyra, while Luke lets out a whistle.
“Thanks mate,” I mutter as we pile into the car.
The beach isn’t that far and we arrive the party is in full swing, full of colourful clothing, music and drinks.
“This looks like so much fun!” Tyra exclaims, a wide smile on her lips. She is fast to jump out of the parked car eager to get down and join the party.
“Let’s party!” Calum throws hands up into the air and the boys follow happily.
“Come on Harry don’t be like that- we have time to have some fun,” Tyra squeezes my hand as she leans against me.
I don’t answer, instead I throw her over my shoulder and run with her down to the Californian sand with her shrieking and giggling.
The music is loud and happy and when I let Tyra down she is immediately starts to move to the music pulling me in with her.
Luke then pushes drinks into our hands, yelling that Tyra’s is only lemonade since she is working and should not be drinking. I smile with gratitude, happy that at least he has some good sense about some things.
The lads join us in dancing and for a moment I forget why we are really here. That’s until Tyra stops dancing and fishes out her phone from her pocket.
She checks her text and after reading it, she shows it to me.

Meet me at fourth, the big white house right on the beach. You’ll know which one.

“Is that?”
“Yes, it’s Mike, Luke- do you know where this is?” She shows her phone to him.
“Yeah, he wants you there like now?” He questions. Tayra nods.
“But we are having loads of fun- can it wait some?” Liam yells over the music.
“Don’t forget the real reason we are here man,” Luke reminds him.
“IS it close?” I ask.
“Yeah, let’s go,” Luke beckons us to follow him. We do, with our drinks in are hands.
“How would you know which house it is?” Tyra inquires.
“Look ahead, tell me yourself which house it is,” Luke smirks.
We look up and really you can’t miss it. The front is full of people in bathing suites and plastic red cups, however the front door is closed, which is quite strange for a party house.
We get to the front of the house and make our way to front door.
“You need to be invited in,” A girl stops me, her hand resting on my arm. There is a glint in her eyes, and I pull away.
“What makes you think we weren’t?” I reply. Tyra leads the way, and I am right after her, reaching out for her hand.
“NO Harry- let her go,” Luke pulls at me. “She has no boyfriend- remember?”
Tyra is about to knock, but before she has a chance, the door swings open.

Tyra’s POV

“You brought friends?” Mike stands before me, tall with fading blue hair. He has an eyebrow ring and a condescending smirk on his face.
“Well, you didn’t tell me not to..” I answer, offering him a wicked smile.
“Any of these boys a boyfriend?” HE cocks an eye brow. I roll my eyes and glance back at the guys for a moment- “These guys? Pleaseee,” I say flicking my hair.
Mike nods and his smile widens.
“Come in guys, and remember, my party- my rules.”
I glance back at Harry for a slight fraction, our eyes lock and then I follow Mike in.
The house is full of people and a strong smell of cigarettes and weed.
“Here, take,” Mike hands over shot glasses full of something I cannot make out.
“I told you- my party, my rules,” Mike narrows his eyes at me. Catching my hesitation.
I smile, toasting him and knock back the drink, wincing as it burns down my throat.
“By the end of the day it won’t burn so much,” Mike wraps an arm around my shoulders.
“Boys, have fun, make friends, and you girly- you come with me,” Mike winks pulling me after him. I look at Harry as I am pulled away from him.
“Find NI,” I mouth to them, and see how they spread.
“I like you- you’re feisty,” Mike says, leading me into another room. This room only has a handful of people and it’s quiet. They are sat around talking, drinking and smoking.
As Mike sits, someone passes him a cigarette and he lights it, taking a puff, and then handing it to me.
“Take it,” He orders me.
I do as I’m told, holding it between my fingers.
“Smoke it Tyra,” He demands.
I bring it to my lips and inhale. I blow it out, knowing I am not doing it right, not letting it down to my lungs.
“Good enough I guess.. So Tyra, tell me about yourself, you’re obviously not from here,” He notes, picking up on my southern accent knowing I’m not from here.
“What is there to know?” I shrug
“You’re a long way from home for one.”
“Heard it’s more fun down here, and I can tell you I was right,” I smile.
“Where are you staying?”
“At a friend’s,” I reply nonchalant.
“One of the boys you came in- you want to tell me none of them our your boyfriend?”
“Why are you so surprised?” I challenge.
“Drink up,” He changes the subject, handing over another shot.
“What is it?” I ask.
“Just drink,” He orders again.
I drink it, and the burn isn’t as strong as before.
“What about you? Tell me more about yourself,” I try, maybe he will tell me what he’s been up to and say something about Niall.
“Na.. I wanna know more about you babe,” He shifts closer to me, his finger runs up my thigh.
“I ah… umm..” I try my best not to move, not to pull away from him.
“Am I scaring you?” He whispers.
“Err- Are you trying to?” I stutter, failing to keep a cool front.
“Na.. But I think you need to drink a little more, loosen up a little,” He reaches out and gets me another drink. By now I know how this works. I need to do as he pleases or else he won’t talk, or worse- kick me out of the house.
My head feels slightly light, not being used to drink, and only having some lemonade in my system.
“So Tyra, you’re from Texas aren’t you?”
“Yes, what gave it away?” I giggle. He is sat so close to me, I can smell the cigarette and alcohol on his breath.
“So what brings a pretty girl like you so far away from home?” He questions again.
“I already told you- California is so much more fun,” I chuckle.
He hands me another drink, and I have this feeling he isn’t buying it.
“Drink up,” He sings, and I do.
“Why won’t you give me the real reason for you being here ha?” He tries again.
“The parties are supposed to be better,” I say again.
“Are you not having fun?” He inquires.
“I’m drinking alone,” I feel brave.
He hands me another drink, and this time he drinks with me.
“How did you get to me? Who told you about me?” He questions.
“This girl Tessa, said you are the best party man- and if I want to have a good time, I should find you,” I grin at him, feeling braver by the minute.
“Tessa ha… Yes.. I spoke to Tessa…” He sighs. His eyes cold, and I freeze.
“She told me she met this blonde girl and her boyfriend… But you don’t have a boyfriend..” He says, and I shake my head.
“SO that wasn’t you?”
“No..” I say again.
“Tyra.. Tyra.. My party my rules.. SO I think it’s time for you to start telling me the truth or I won’t tell you where your brother is!”
