Live While We're Young

Chapter One

When the doorbell rang and I opened the door I was greeted by a tall, attractive boy holding a few notebooks. His light brown hair fell in waves around his face, his lips were a pale pink and his hazel brown eyes glowed with kindness. He looked as though he were a very pleasant person.

"I suppose your Harry." I said awkwardly.

Josie had told me her new study buddy, Harry, would be stopping by for a visit. She had met him in her ancient history class that she was majoring in. Her end goal was to become an archaeologist that traveled the world, uncovering some of the world's most wanted secrets. As for Harry I didn't know what he wanted to do in life.

"No," he admitted. "I'm Liam, Harry's friend. He came down with a cold and wanted by to take over for today. It's nice to meet you, Josie. Harry's told me a little bit about you." He said with a sly smile.

I laughed, wondering what Harry could have possibly told Liam about Josie. "My name's Marina. I'm her friend. Josie's sorting something out with her literature professor. She'll be back in a few minutes or so." I told him apologetically.

Liam shrugged. "Would you like anything to drink?" I asked him.

"Nah."

I sat down at my desk and continued to study out of my math textbook. "What subject is that?" Liam asked, watching my every move.

"Calculus level three." I answered.

Liam continued to watch me. "Do you want any help?"

"No thank you. I understand the material well enough."

"Are you sure?" He raised an eyebrow. "Because the first problem is incorrect. You didn't use the correct formula."

I quickly skimmed over my work and was shocked to discover that he was right. I had never been proven wrong before and I wasn't too fond of the feeling. "In that case, could you help me?"

"Of course!" Liam told me enthusiastically.

"Thanks," I smiled. "Wednesdays are good for me."

"I guess I'll see you then," he said shyly.
