Chapter 8- April 16th, 1991
Sarah’s POV
There was a pause and silence in the room once they left.
I couldn’t wait any longer, “Why would you do that?” I asked him as he sat up.
“I was trying to tell you that I heard her.”
I gave him a confused look.
“Then why did you shake your head?”
“The thoughts took me by surprise. I shook my head to make sure that they were real and not just my imagination. I tried to tell you but you had already taken off after Louis, so I thought that I could try to stop you. The first thing that came to my mind was to block you from hurting him.”
“So you are positive that Marissa is real?”
“Yes. I’m positive.”
“Well, maybe she could help us out if she would just show herself, but how do we make that happen.”
Louis’s POV
After Sarah took Harry back to the mansion I stood there paralyzed for a few minutes before finally regaining my train of thought. I turned around and walked over to where Marissa was standing.
“I’m sorry you had to see that. I thought you would be frightened of who I am and run away and never talk to me again.” I say while running my hand through my hair nervously.
She came over and put her hand on my shoulder.
“Don’t worry; I have a secret of my own.”
“What’s your secret?”
“I can’t explain it, I have to show you.”
“Ok then, I’m ready you can show me.” I braced myself in case something bad would happen.
“It doesn’t work like that. You have to be in danger for me to be able to show you and anyone who is there to witness it will also know about my secret.”Marissa said while looking around to see if there was any sign of anyone else around us.
“Something’s coming.” She said while getting behind me.
“Who’s there?”
No answer, so I tried again.
“Is there anyone out there?” I heard a twig snap and a low growl coming from the bunch of trees a few feet in front of us.
Out from the bunch of trees leaped a cougar with 5 more on either side of it. They were stalking towards both of us. I had no time to even think before one of them pounced at me. When it pinned me down, I noticed that the eyes were glowing red. That’s when I realized that I wasn’t just dealing with any regular cougars. They were possessed.
Sarah’s POV
Harry and I were talking about how we could figure out how to get Marissa to show herself when Harry all of a sudden stood up.
“Something is wrong.” He said while taking my hand.
“What do you mean?” I said while following him down the stairs.
“We don’t have to get Marissa to show herself. Louis needs our help.”
I followed Harry out of the house and we flitted to where Louis was and saw him pinned down by a cougar. I looked to my right and saw that Harry had already phased.
I phased and charged toward the cougar on top of Louis, sank my fangs into the back of its neck. I could taste the blood seeping through its skin. I then threw it off of him. Harry went on the other side of Louis and blocked the other cougar that was about to pounce and pinned it down and ripped its head off and threw it into the wilderness.
I looked around and saw that there were still 5 more to kill. I then noticed that Louis had phased and was ripping another one of the cougars apart with Harry doing the same. I then ripped the one that had jumped on to Harry off of his back and snapped its neck.
The one that I had thrown against the tree was back up and jumped onto Louis and pinned him down. The teeth of the cougar were about to sink into his neck. Harry and I were too far away and would never get to Louis in time.
Just when we thought that all hope was lost, a shining light threw the cougar off of Louis. It broke its back when it hit the tree. The bright light started to fade and the figure of a girl with wings was standing there in its place.
Harry and I just stood there dumbstruck. We had all phased back to our human forms. I looked at the girl then looked at Louis.
“Is that?”
“Yes, this is Marissa.” Louis said while still in a trance.
“I told you so she was real.” Harry and Louis said at the same time. I then looked back at the girl.
“Hi, I’m Marissa, Louis’ guardian angel.”
