It was April 1, 2020 and I was sitting in History, listening to the most tiresome class you could imagine sitting through. The teacher's voice was monotonous making everyone around me fall asleep. I was texting my brother who was sitting on the other side of class, when it happen.
Out of nowhere there is gasp, and Wendy who is sitting at the first table in the front shoots to her feet. I look up. Where did the teacher go to?
Wendy starts screaming. I stand with the other perplexed trying to push my way to the front of the class to see what she is pointing and screaming about. My little frame allows me to push through the little gaps between my classmates and get to the front of the class.
"Come on- its April fool's day- where did she go?" One boy called out.
"She evaporated I saw it" Wendy sobbed.
On the floor where my teacher stood just a moment ago was a pile of clothes. Max was pushing them aside with his foot going through them.
"Her bra and knickers are here- and so are her stockings and shoes" He yells.
I look around. We were all confused. No way in hell the teacher would pull such a prank on us. I feel a tug on my arm and turn to find my brother standing next to me, his face is pale.
"Come on" He pulls me. I follow him out of the class. When we step into the hallway we come to a sudden stop. It is packed with kids running and screaming. My brother looks at me and takes my hand in his. We start running to the entrance of the school. We push through the heavy doors and continue running. We get to the main street and once again we are forced to stop.
It was as if a bomb went off. Cars were tipped over, crashed into buildings and poles all around us. A few feet from us was another pile of clothes. I look at my brother's face. I felt the fear take over my features and knew he was feeling the same.
We run the two blocks to our home, knowing our mum was home today, it being her day off.
The house was full of smoke. My brother runs into the kitchen and he turns off the burning stove. I come in after him coughing.
Even though my eyes were tearing from the smoke I saw it. The pile of clothes my mum wore this morning on the floor.
I went weak at the knees, crashing to the floor by the pile of my mum's clothes. What is going on?

Like almost every truly horrible thing that has ever happened in the history of our world, the end also began with a kiss
There is no greater hell than to be a prisoner of fear.
“We can’t know what’s going to happen. We can just try to figure it out as we go along."
“The night is the hardest time to be alive and 4am knows all my secrets.”
“Nothing is more frightening than a fear you cannot name.”
"Forgiveness is me giving up my right to hurt you for hurting me."
"The world is a fine place and worth fighting for."
“As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.”
“The heart was made to be broken.”
“I know this is war, but the rest of us are trying to pretend it's a party.”
