Everything About You

Stole My Heart

“Only a 5 more star jumps to go girls then we are done.” I yelled, exhausted. “1… 2… 3… 4… 5… Okay! Good job girls. Pity more of the soccer team couldn’t be here for our last training session before the finals.” There was only 5 of us at training, but it was nice because we were the close friends in the team. These girls had become my close friends since I had transferred to a school in England.

We sat down in the grass talking about the school formal that was on the next night. None of us had formal dates so we all sort of agreed to go as a group.

“I can’t wait until tomorrow night! It’s going to be so fun. Our first formal ever. Wow. This is going to be strange. So glad they are doing it with the year 11's and 12's this year.” The girls agreed. Our heads all turned as we heard loud chuckling coming from the oval next the one we sat on.

The girls all gasped as they spotted the boys that were now kicking a soccer ball between them. The girls were all giggling and talking about which one they liked better. There was a short blonde one, who looked like he might only be a bit taller than me, he had a cute smile and by the looks of it you couldn’t get rid of it off of his face. He was the cheerful kind I guessed. A boy with light brown, straight hair than popped up behind the blonde one and wrapped his arm around his shoulder and gave him a noogie. It took me a while to look away as that boy was shirtless and extremely fit. I then saw two boys behind them one with similar hair to the shirtless boy, but he wore glasses and the other was more tan than the rest and had black hair. He was shirtless as well.

Then, I spotted the last one who looked as if he was about to pounce on the one with glasses. There was something about him that mesmerized me. I didn’t know what it was. Maybe it was the ways his curls framed his face. No, that wasn’t it. He grinned. Ah, that was it. His smile. I felt my heart skip a beat. He was absolutely gorgeous.

“Mia. MIA!” I shook my head.

“Yes?” My friends all burst out laughing at my dazed expression. I grabbed my friend Cassie’s hand as she helped me up. We had to walk past the boys to get home and I tried to avoid eye contact. My friends were still laughing at me, when all of a sudden a force pushed me to the ground.

“OUCH!” I hissed. I opened my eyes to see what had hit me and as I saw I almost lost my breath. It was the boy with the curly hair. I couldn’t speak. He smiled, but then it quickly faded. I laughed.

“Look, as nice as this is,” I gestured to him on top of me, “I need to get up.” He laughed nervously before standing up.

“Here,” he held out his hand to me. I grabbed it and he almost yanked me up.

“OH!” He had pulled me up so fast that I smashed into his chest.

I laughed. “What?” He asked, smiling.

“This keeps getting more awkward by the minute.” I looked down.

“You can let go of my hand now.” He blushed. “Sorry.”

“I’m Mia,” I held out my hand. My friends were standing behind my giggling as the other boys appeared behind him.

“I’m Harry.” He shook my hand. He then gestured to the boys as he introduced them each, “this is Niall,” the blonde one. “Liam,” the shirtless, brunette. “Louis,” the brunette with the glasses, “and Zayn,” the shirtless tan one. Nice to meet you all.

I gestured at my friends. “This is Cassie, Renee, Laura and Jess.” They all took turns shaking each other’s hands while Harry kept his eyes on me the whole time.

Louis spoke, “So, we saw you girls practicing over there and judging from your shirts you play football. Am I correct?”

“You sure are!” Cassie said. She was always so enthusiastic. It’s why we all love her. I laughed.

“We saw you boys kicking a soccer ball around,” I said.

“You boys up for a challenge? Actually, you know what? Let’s make this interesting. We’ll make a bet.” I looked at the girls and by the way they looked at the boys, I could tell they would try their best to win.

“If we win, you have to take us to our formal tomorrow night.” The boys smiled.

“Alright, but if WE win, you have to let us take you all out on a date.” Harry grinned.

“Deal.” We shook hands.

“By the way,” he stopped walking. “Where is your adorable accent from?” “I’m from Australia.” He smiled.

“I’ve never met an Australian girl before. They’re cute.” He winked and ran off to the other boys. I turned around to face my friends. “Okay girls. Let’s do this!”

The game was filled with a lot of the typical ‘boy showing off for girls thing.’ Pathetic, I thought jokingly. The boys had all taken their shirts off at half time and I had to admit, they were all in good shape. The girls and I hatched a plan to tease them back, so when a short break came around all of us took our soccer shirts of to reveal our sports bras. Us girls were all in shape, a couple of us had belly button rings, I even had a tattoo across my hip. The boy’s faces were priceless. It was fair to say that we had won ourselves a date to the formal by the end of it.

“So boys, how does it feel getting your asses whooped by a group of girls?” Niall scoffed, “we let you win. You haven’t seen anything yet.”

I laughed, smug. “We might need a rematch sometime then, hey?” Niall stepped closer to me so we were in each other’s faces, “oh it’s on.” I flicked his nose and we both laughed.

“Alright boys, well. It looks like YOU are taking US to our formal then. Here’s my details,” I wrote down my number and address on a piece of paper and handed it to Harry, “a limo is picking us up at my place so be there by 6:00. Okay?” I smiled, biting my lip staring directly at Harry.

“WAIT!” I was startled, “who is going with who?” Cassie asked.

Jess spoke up, “I think Mia should go with Harry.” Everyone giggled.

I agreed, “Alright.” I walked over to his side and made the typical ‘prom photo’ pose, “what do you think? Do we make a cute couple?”

I laughed and so did Harry. The boys then spoke up, “I want to take Renee,” said Niall.

Liam spoke next, “I would like to take Jess, if that’s okay?” “Of course,” she said blushing.

Jess was like me in a way; she was quite shy but was loud and out there when needed. Louis agreed to take Laura and Zayn agreed on Cassie. From the looks of it, they were all pretty happy with their picks.

“Well boys, as much as we’d like to stick around, we have to get home.” We all said our goodbyes and we all headed over to where my mum sat in her 7 seater, typical soccer mum car.

I remember going home that night the happiest I had been in ages. We told our mums who always gathered at my place what had happened and they were all so excited to hear that we all had dates, even if we didn’t know them very well. I slept well that night.
