You say different, I say interesting

*Later at lunch*

Harry's P.O.V

I walk into the lunch room and look to the back table where Kaya usually sits and notice she isn't there. I shake my head, she really is avoiding me. Ugh, I so screwed up. I grab my lunch and walk to go sit at the table alone with my back turned to the rest of the student body present. As I'm finishing up my lunch I feel a shift in the environment, everyone seems to have quieted down and I feel as if I'm being stared at. I shake it off and I get up to go throw my lunch away. When I turn around I come face to face with some jock.

"Uh, can I help you mate?" I say raising my eyebrow. Out of the corner of my eye I see Maggie standing with her two puppets, she has a wicked smile on her face and her arms are crossed. So this guy is here for her? This should be fun then.

"Actually MATE you can. You can start by explaining to me who gave you the rite to be rude to my cousin." He spits, gesturing to Maggie. I chuckle and he doesn't seem to like that I find this funny. He tenses and balls his fists. I notice two other guys stand up and ball their fists as well.

"Well, I wasn't trying to be rude. I was simply stating the truth, your cousin over there has a crappy attitude which makes her a lot less attractive." I turn my head to face her "Sorry that the truth hurts love." I say winking. Her mouth drops open a little bit and I am shoved towards my table. My tray falls to the ground in the process and that seems to be the only sound in the cafeteria. I feel my anger begin to rise. Relax Harry it's only the second day you can't do this. I clench and unclench my fists and try and relax. I look to the jock who has a dark smirk on his face.

He takes a step to me "I suggest you apologize before things get ugly." He says pointing to his cousin who is glaring at me. I stand up and now realize I have a good two inches on this guy and even though he seems to be a football player he isn't as built as his friends, I can definitely take this guy. I shake the thought from my head. No Harry, you promised no more fighting.

I take a deep breath and turn to Maggie, "I apologize..." I pause for a minute, "That you can't take the truth." I finish. Really Harry, you couldn't just suck it up for one second to avoid confrontation. Her mouth drops open again. I'm pulled to face the jock again he looks furious but I can't seem to wipe the smile that has appeared on my face.

"Guess things have to get ugly huh MATE?" He says before landing a punch to my gut.

Kaya's P.O.V

I finally decide to go to lunch before the period is over, hopefully Harry met some people to sit with. When I walk in I notice a crowd has gathered in the back near my table. I raise my eyebrow and watch from the entrance while more people make their way to the crowd. I start making my way as well to see what all the fuss is about. When I get fairly close I ask one of the underclass men what's going on.

"Jett and the British guy are fighting!" They say enthusiastically. My eyes widen. Crap, this has Maggie written all over it.

"Go get one of the security guards!" I yell, they look surprised but surprisingly do what they're told.

I do my best to break through the crowd, luckily I'm smaller than most so it proves to be pretty easy. When I finally reach the front my mouth drops at the sight in front of me. Harry is being held by two of the biggest football players in the school while Maggie's cousin Jett throws punch after punch. Harry looks like he's about to pass out if he gets hit anymore. I look back to see if the security guard is here yet but I can't see over the crowd. I turn back to Harry to see that he's looking at me. He tries to smile at me and my heart drops when he receives a hard punch to the gut. I need to do something quick. I must be insane. I gather up enough courage and run over to where Jett was beating Harry to a pulp. I push Jett back a little and he stands there glaring at me.

"Stop!" I yell. "You're gunna kill him if you keep on, and I don't think a pretty boy like you will do well in jail." I say, guarding Harry.

Jett takes a few steps forward so that he's about a foot in front of me. He looks behind me at Harry and then tells his friends to let him go. Harry slumps to the floor and I kneel down next to him. He's on his knees, barely holding himself up. "It's a shame a girl has to protect you." He says and Harry snaps his head up glaring at him. He tries to stand but immediately slumps back down. Jett's laughter booms along with Maggie.

Maggie walks up next to Jett and looks down at Harry. "I told you you'd regret it." She says as she walks off with her friends. I notice one look over her shoulder and shows a look of sympathy. I turn to face the crowd when it starts to part and notice the kids I spoke to earlier appear with two security guards. About time!

"Crap." I hear Jett mutter.

"Well what do we have here. Come on you three, you come with me. Paul you help that kid to the nurse." One of the security officers say.

I watch as the three football players are ushered out of the lunch room. The other security guard, Paul, walks over and kneels down next to Harry and I. "Looks like you got a pretty crappy welcoming party." He says trying to lighten the mood. Harry chuckles but lets out a groan as he grabs his stomach. "Since you're here how about you help me get him to the Nurse's office." He says looking at me. I nod and he tells me to put his right arm around my shoulder. Once we have Harry hoisted up we slowly make our way out of the caf.

Harry stares at me most of the walk. Once we get to the nurse we sit him down on one of the beds and the security guard goes to talk to the nurse leaving me and Harry alone.

"Umm... Well I... I should go." I say slowly getting up to leave. I feel a hand grab my wrist and I look down to see Harry frowning at me.

"Don't leave, please." He says tugging my arm a bit to sit back down. I sigh heavily and sit back down.
Another moment of silence passes before the nurse comes in. "Hello there, my name is Nurse Lucy. Looks like you got pretty banged up there." She says inspecting his face. "I'm going to go get some things to clean you up. Your girlfriend can stay for now but when I come back she'll have to go." She says as she walks away. I freeze at her statement and I hear Harry chuckle.

I turn to him. His face turns serious and we just sit there staring for a moment. I decide to break the silence. "So what did you do to make Jett so mad?".

Raises his eyebrow "So thats his name." He says and pauses for a moment before smiling and continuing. "Well Maggie ran to him after I told her what most people are too scared to admit to her." He finishes. I look at him questioningly and he takes that as a signal to explain. He sits up a little, wincing as he does so. "I told her that even though she may be pretty, her attitude makes her quite unattractive. I tried to tell her nicely that I wasn't interested but I get the feeling she's not told no very often." He says smiling again. I widen my eyes and smile at him.

"You're insane." I say shaking my head. "This school revolves around social classes and you just picked a fight with some of the highest standing people." I explain.

He shrugs his shoulders and says "I'm not too fond of labels, popular or not they're people just like us and they need to realize they can't just do or say what they want." As true as his statement is I still shake my head. "Listen, wether you like it or not you're stuck with me. So either you just let me be your friend or I can bug you until you give in." He says smiling wide enough that his dimples show.

I can't help but smile back at him, his smile is definitely contagious. I sigh loudly and nod my head. He sticks his hand out still smiling. After a few seconds of hesitation I finally accept the gesture. When I shake his hand I feel those sparks I felt when he first introduced himself to me. He doesn't seem to notice so I just shake it off. We release and he is still smiling at me.

Nurse Lucy comes back in and I stand to leave. I wave to Harry and walk out of the doors. His persistence is pretty amusing. I shake my head and smile as I walk to class. He's insane, but I think I like that. I shake the thought from my head. No Kaya, he's your friend and thats it; even the word friend sounds weird, I've never really had any friends... Anyway there's no way he'd be interested in anything more with a freak like you. I shake all the thoughts from my head and walk into class. Just two more periods and you can go home. And you get to sit next to Harry on the bus. Stop! Ugh these thoughts are even more persistent than Harry.

So here's another chapter. Harry kind of got his butt kicked, but at least Kaya is going to give him a chance... Right?
